February in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis a very eerie 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy with rain/tstorms/apocalypse on the way (we are in a lull right now) and that shall also be the high for the day. We are under TORNADO WATCH, WIND ADVISORY, AND FLASH FLOOD WATCH all day and into tonight as well. Definitely a good day to be in da cave. Neither of us are goin’ anywhere today. I shall bake a small spiral cut ham. That, N.O.T. sallit, and green beans shall comprise tonight’s sup. Ham shall also be ingested over the next couple of days. That works for us cause we likes us some ham.

Becks yeah it will suck havin’ to be in the horsepistol and then rehab for a while, but it will also be a good thing to have professional help nearby durin’ recovery.

Nellie as to your comment about “chickie”, I grew up hangin’ out at my aunt’s and uncle’s farm where I learned an important lesson. If you name the animals, it makes it tough to choke down the roast formerly known as Bessie.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Happy Thursday, mumpers! I’m a bit late again this week, I was away over the weekend in Budapest and then back at work from Tuesday. Since I’ve been away since the xmas break in December, I get a phased return so I’m on short hours this week before resuming my normal work pattern next week.

midget We have stress dogs on campus during summer exams as our students get very stressed about exams so they can book an appointment to spend a little bit of time with a hound. If they had stress cats, I’d move in!

Dealing with mum’s stuff rumbles on. The solicitor rang today to say he has to apply for a Grant of Probate because one of the insurance companies has demanded it. Legally, it’s pretty much up to individual companies to say whether they want it or not, and sadly this one’s decided to be awkward. Luckily he will complete the paperwork and send it to me for signing as I’m a co-executor of her Will. It shouldn’t delay the process too much but it’s something else to drag it out.

We’re still working on clearing her flat so I’ll be driving over there on Sunday. I’ve bullied my brother and his son into coming as well so we can hopefully move things on a bit. I need to get things ready so we can get one of the charities to come in and see how much furniture they can take, then we’ll just be left with the rest. I really just want it done now so the more he actually helps, the better.

Flood warnings in my county for the next coupla days! But we’re on one of the highest spots in our neighborhood, and the neighborhood is away from and above the rivers and most of the creeks. And the route from where we are to where we’re going tomorrow is also reasonably flood-free, so I’m not concerned.

**nellie **- Wiggle-Giggle was crowded yesterday - lots of kids, parents, and grandparents. Roxy is starting to figure out the routine so she’s participating more. And she don’t take no s#!t from nobody! A couple of kids were grabbing stuff from her, and she grabbed right back. No hitting or yelling, but she wasn’t going to let them get away with it, dammit!

I wanted to smack one little girl, tho. They hand out labels for the kids’ names and they get stuck on their shirts. BratGirl pulled Roxy’s off, crumbled it up, and threw it on the floor! But other than that, it was a nice morning. When we got home, she crashed for almost 3 anna half hours!

I’ve got to do a couple of loads of laundry today and I want to run to Aldi. Tomorrow, we’ll pack when we get up - no rush since we can’t check into the hotel till 3, plus we’re making a stop on the way.

**BooFae **- I dread the thought of clearing my mother’s place once she dies, and there are 5 of us sibs (plus inlaws) who can tackle the job. She’s lived there over 40 years, and tho she’s been giving some things away of late, there’s still a lot of miscellany we’ll have to deal with. She’s still doing well at 86, but that really doesn’t mean anything at that age. Both her parents were in their mid 80s when they died.

Well, this ain’t getting my laundry done. Happy Thursday!!

Happy Thorsday!

Another rainy morning, 37 degrees now, supposed to get up to 52.
I’m not going out today, although if the weather clears up I’ll probably sit outside for a bit.
I havent heard any nasty weather warnings for here, then again I don’t watch the news.

Ripple is getting a bit peeved at me, keeps dropping toys on my toes. Usually that means he wants a treat, but what he wants is to go to the park.

I need to do some laundry today. I made a spiral ham yesterday, so that will be lunch and dinner today. And tomorrow, and the next day, and then some.
Good thing I like ham.
I need to call my mother to tell her Happy Birthday.

I have been considering buying her (among other people) a copy the book Swedish Death Cleaning. It wouldn’t be meant in a negative way, but she’d probably take it that way.Friend1 needs a copy too, except that would be one more thing for her to get rid of.
Fortunately for me, the HFH are greedy and I can be sure that as soon as my mother passes they will be over her house grabbing up everything for themselves.
One of the things I ask myself when I declutter is, do I want my son to have to deal with this when I am gone?

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. There’s a Cat 3 Severe Weather Advisory today. Which is weird, because I only have 1 Cat. Irregardless, “Princess Pretty Paws” will not go out, and is currently snoozing on my foot(and dreaming).
Also,
Happy 14thish Birthday/Gotcha Day Gordie!!!

Moooommmmm!!!, sounds like Roxy had her identity stolen by the brat.

{{{{Boofae}}}}

I don’t have kids, so y’all are welcome to fight over my estate when I start pinnin’ for the fjords. Assuming there’s interest in 50 hockey jerseys, a half of a fifth of Tanqueray #10, and a weird decrepit dog.

Morning all. The guys are here to repair the last bit of (old) termite damage we found, they’ve gone to get a small piece of drywall but should be done soon. Rain is continuing until noontime but looks like the tunder-boomers are past, so we may start drying out–NO rk needed, swampy. Only other thing on the schedule is to visit the garage door folks, they put one in for me about 6-7 years ago and the remote control has become hard to use–have to press it 4-5 times to get it to open sometimes. Have changed the battery, but think it’s just wearing out.

**{{{{Butters and Hubby}}}} **. You watch all the TV programs and think Drs. have figured out everything about the human body, but they (we) haven’t. Hope they get a solution for him and some rest for you.

Boo fae. How was Budapest? May get to visit it with a group of friends next year, heard it’s a very beautiful city.

Sunny, does not sound pleasant; hope it works and you get feeling better–look at it this way, you have a lot more time to write on the MMP…

Becks, hope everything goes as planned for the next month and the procedure is nominal.

<Geez, better go get my annual physical, what with the issues here…>

nellie, tired just listening to your day.

Found the paint for the walls and moved a few (very few) things to the office, so all is well. All y’all take care.

ooooo - you so funneeeee! :p:p

Back from erranding. Roxy is napping and SIL is emptying the dishwasher. Supper will be burgers and chips and I’m thinking I’ll au gratin the broccoli. Second load in the washer, first in the dryer, and I refilled the ice bin - that countertop ice maker is a wonderful device!!

Now, for a short bit of chillage.

MOOOOOM, you would like the ice maker I gifted myself for hexmass–it makes SONIC ice. Not cheap, and it eats a diet of distilled water, but all the wonderful small ice I could ever want, on demand.

You can get an ice maker that makes the good ice?

I want an icemaker that makes Sonic ice.

Happy day, y’all. I can’t get enough to eat today. My appetite is so screwy!
I set off my CGM alarm eating a poptart. I got it under control again. I know better.
My insulin costs went up. Another almost $100. I pay the same co-pay, but still. Someone’s (insurance, I assume) paying that over-inflated increase. It’s criminal.
What is wrong with this country that we can’t get health care initiatives, that work.
If something happens to the Big Wrek (he’s old as dirt) and I lose my health insurance I’ll live about a month. I can’t take the cheap/free insulin. If I had to pay outright for all my diabetes supplies and Insulin it would be about $2000 a month. That’s not even considering the clinic visits and my special diet needs.
It ridiculous.
As Scarlet o’Hara says: " I worry about that tomorrow"
Today, I have what I need.

Okay. Rant over.
Carry on.
(:))

Storm #1 lasted 5minutes, but took out the power

I’m afraid I’m going to have to kill my daughter’s dog. He keeps pissing all over the house, including climbing on the couch and pissing on the back cushions! And or Roxy’s toy box, and on the love seat, and on the dining room furniture, and on the walls. Daughter claims he’s “marking” - no he’s emptying his bladder, even tho I throw him out in the yard at least hourly. I’ll be so glad when they can afford their own place. Damned dog…

Last load in the dryer - I really should have made it 2 loads, but it’ll be done eventually. Roxy is up from her nap, playing the piano. Burgers are thawing. I’ve been knitting. It’s pouring outside.

So glad our mini-vacay starts tomorrow…

Looking at the weather, different routes, and considering if we want to drive to Fort Wayne. Well, we want to and we have our tickets for the concert but ------- crossing Ohio in February can be an adventure.

Afternoon all. Wall work is done, the Pest control company is picking up the bill, so that’s a few hundred dollars saved…which I promptly spent on a new garage door opener, it would have cost nearly 70% of a new one just to make a call and see if the sensor in the old one is bad, so decided just to get a new one. They’re coming Moanday, so I really hope I get my last furniture on Tuesday, then I can start concentrating on putting stuff back.

FCM, dog is probably peeing everywhere your pup sits/lies down at, but I sympathize with you.

Beck, hope Big Weck lives a long, long time. Or at least until some sort of universal care (or you make it to Medicare age) or you immigrate to Canada.

OK, feel like nappage.

**MetalMouse **- no. My dog doesn’t lie in the hallway or next to the toy box or under the dining room table. Cozmo is just a little asshole!

OK, back to knitting…

Is Cosmo neutered?
I have a bag of doggie diapers if you need it.

I think Echo is out of heat already, which doesn’t seem right, but the swelling has gone down and she isn’t bleeding anymore. We’ll wait a few more days before going back to the park.

Still rainy outside.

I finally got a hold of my mother. She calls and then doesn’t answer when I call back because she turns off the ringer on her phone and forgets to turn it back on.
Between her and Friend1, both of them get mad when I don’t call them back.

It’s been long overdue but I finally cleaned the vacuum fliters today. Have some laundry in the washer. I need to figure out what is up with the lid, again today I didn’t get it down right and the washer fills up and then sits there. I also need to look at the toilet and figure out why it takes hours for the tank to fill.

Always something around here to pluck my nerves.

{{{Butters and Hubby}}}

Howdy Y’all! Been a dreary, rainy day in south Jawja. Also, the temp has dropped to <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin. Lots and lots of torrential rain. Again, good day to be in da cave and dry. Took the ham outta da oven a little bit ago. Made N.O.T. sallit this mornin’. In a little while I shall cook up the green beans and bake up some frozen rolls. Sup will be nummy! Oh, and there will be apple crisp with ice cream. YUM!

I’m sitting here, watching skiing and crying for Kaylasdad and Kayla, for their loss. I don’t know these people IRL. But, I feel close to him anyway. I see his Doper name everyday. I read his posts everyday.

If one person tells me that this community of Dopers don’t count because it’s only ‘online’, I swear I’m gonna punch them.

I’m so sad.:frowning:

**sari **- Cozmo was neutered almost 10 years ago. He’s just a little asshole! And on top of his peeing, Roxy dropped bits of blackberries on the carpet. We have light beige carpet (yeah, I know - dumb choice) so I pulled out the shampooer and spotcleaned the berry stains (looks like they came out) and the newest piss spot, because I knew where it was.

Daughter and SIL are late - stuck in traffic. But I’ll start the broccoli au gratin anyway. The burgers will be easy.

At least the laundry is done.

Sahirrnee, my guess would be either a kink in the fill pipe, or lots of gunk in that line. They have new fill pipes at the big box stores in your favorite colors of blue or orange.
