February in the MMP

Sunny Daze thank you for asking about my daughter. You can google her name: Rosalee de la Forêt to find out more. Always happy to brag about her. She was a big drain financially as she was growing up. Mostly for education. Her mom died when she was eight, so the budget was tight.

But now the investment is paying off. She insisted on paying for everything. She did let me pay the tips, though. I do have to mention one excellent restaurant in Cancun. Bovinos. It is an Argentine meat house. They have a thirty feet oval salad bar. Well, to call it a salad bar is an injustice. Cuz it had everything. Shrimp, ceviche, incredible. Then they give these tokens. Green side up means bring meat. And waiters come to your table and slice off some animal flesh. Exotic stuff like water buffalo, lechón, roast beef and more. When you want a break you place the token with the red side up. Don’t know how much it cost. She hid the bill.

We ate at fine restaurants. She insisted on restaurants that have a table cloth. Thinking that they were less likely to give her the squirts.

We had a super visit. She said if I take care of my health, she will come back.

As for my boring life, without Rosalee, today was to the doc for an UTI and to take a look at my thumb, that was treated for ostiomilitis last summer. It is swollen and sore. He told me to get an x-ray of it, and got me an appointment with a visiting urologist for Saturday.

Washed and hung out two loads of clothes. Did some shopping and went to the cantina that has WiFi so I could chat for free.

Rosalee also gifted me a three hour massage at a spa here. So, I will get an appointment for that.

Mooom how did the insulation project work out?

Thanks to all for mentioning my daughter. Yes, it was a great time.

**MoonUnit **- Daughter and SIL did a great job with the insulation. She cut all the rolls into 4’ batts and he installed them, starting from the shortest areas working towards the center. **FCD **was very pleased. Then we installed a pellet stove which does a great job heating the shop - brought it from mid 50s to 70° within about an hour! So no more frosty work area!

Supper was good, but I need to halve the amount of crumbs I used for the broccoli au gratin. And I think cheddar will be better than monterrey jack, but that’s all I had in the fridge. Dishwasher is now doing its thang and I’m about to knit another hat. The library has a donation box where they can be dropped of for whoever needs them.

So ready for tomorrow!!

boofae, my dad (82 years old) lives in the house that I grew up in (so 50+ years) and owns several other properties that he’s used for storage over the years. While he’s trying to divest himself of stuff around him, I still foresee a lot of effort when he goes.

Give some birthdayish skritches to Gordie from me doggio!

ruble, the last time I was in northern Indiana in February was five years ago this week (my mom’s memorial) and both Sis and I got caught in a white out on the way home. Enjoy the Electric Amish!

Looks like a short day at irk tomorrow. Yay! The craft for the heathen children is ready and I’m going to make a pot of mulligatawny and some cornbread for my place and a pot of mushroom barley stew to take to the potluck.

There were tornadoes in Lawrenceburg (a couple of counties away) and storms in middle Tennessee last night and now there’s snow predicted. Ma Nature needs to get back on her meds.

Supper is finished.
Siamese Cats are velcroed to me. It’s cold today. I made a fire in the woodstove. Generally they’d be found on the hearth rug I have there. I don’t know why they are clingy today. I had the Yorkie up here as well but the cats objected to the poor little thing. I put her down ‘ON’ the Beagle. Like, really she’s laying on top of Beagle Betsy. It’s so funny looking. I’d laugh but I’m not allowed to. Cats don’t approve of such frivolity in their human warming pad.
I expect DIL and grand-wreks soon. I gotta measure oldest for a costume. They’re doing spring play/program at her school. She’s playing a caterpillar. This oughta be interesting.
Good evening all!

{{{moon-unit}}} hate those UTIs

Well, here’s a newscast on the Fort Wayne weather. :stuck_out_tongue: Pat Hoffmann gets the giggles as windshield wipers make unfortunate noise | WANE 15

Butters I know it’s none of my business, but have they checked Hubby’s ejection fraction? If they have and it’s okay, just forget I asked, but if it’s low it can cause those symptoms. No I’m not a doctor, but I have some experience in this area.

Sunny I hope everything turns out okay for you. Hang in there.

You too, ** Beck**.

Happy Birthday-ish to Gordie.

Had a busy day today and didn’t get to the Doe until an hour ago, so I prolly missed a bunch.

Happy Thorsday to everybody.

And we are both home now for a few hours. Lots of new meds, fluid restriction. His Dr sat with us a long time and thought out loud. I said I’m sorry he is such a difficult case and he said No, I love a challenge and I get patients from all over the state sent to me to figure out what’s going on. Very nice to us. He apologized profusely to hubs about the drug poisoning but that’s the nature of medicine. After he left the nurse said he is brilliant unlike some others. I know he felt real bad about it. Anyway, liver values are very near normal. There is a plan in place to get the ticker ticking properly.

Sending hugs to **Sunny and Beck and Nellie and Emily ** and anyone else who needs one.

Yes Bumba and the number is low. We have a lot to learn. Baby steps.

Have not read but sees moon unit also needs a hug. Hell let’s just have a Mumper group hug. [[[[[Mumpers]]]]]

Oh, our neighbors brought over shrimp and grits and green beans. Yummy

Laundry is all washed. I have a load in the dryer and two loads on the drying rack.
I still need to wash my white socks, but they can go in with the washcloths so they can be bleached.
That can wait until I have a full load.

Alien, it is probably a lot of gunk in the line. Even though I have city water, it is hard water. Annoys the hell out of me because I have to scrub all the faucets and stainless steel sinks with vinegar to keep them shiney.

Happy Gordie Day!

Have a fun trip** FCM**

So much to say. Sorry my posts are so long. Unlike Becks, I can be a talker IRL, too. Have to watch myself.

Today a friend of mine picked me up to hike in a wildlife sanctuary. (Irony: hunting is allowed there four months a year. It just became a real sanctuary again on Monday.) We did about 4 miles in the wind and rain. Then I walked to the grocery store, another 1.5 miles. I didn’t change in between because getting wet is more uncomfortable than getting wetter. I am sipping whiskey on the rocks for purely medicinal purposes.

swampy, I must confess, I’m not fond of chickens. I had some through no fault of my own, and they were not endearing with those cold, beady eyes and their refusal to do chicken–y things like flapping back into their enclosure/hen house when they’d escaped. Also, they were cannibals. But I am wimp. Hear me whine. I have to tell myself that meat comes into the world in styrofoam trays.

Your dinner has me drooling. And apple crisp a la mode is my favorite dessert in the universe. Yum!

MoonUnit, I looked up your daughter. She is wise in the ways of herbs. No wonder you’re proud!

Beck, I think we’re all down about kaylasmom passing. I’ve been thinking of kaylasdad all day, and like you said, we don’t even know the guy. (Except we do.) And I hear you on healthcare. It continues to astound me that people support our current healthcare system. I’d better not say more.

Butters, you brought tears to my eyes. Sending hugs your way. You’ve had way, way too much to deal with these last few weeks.

red, I haven’t heard of mulligatawny in years. I love that someone still makes it!

Sahi, I do the same thing as your mom re: not turning the ringer back on. People are ready to strangle me. It’d be justifiable homicide.

David Hedison, Captain Crane of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, was in a 1959 TV series, Five Fingers, so bad that the production company asked him to change his stage name.
Of course, I had to have this. Found it on Ebay, a bad copy of TV to VHS to DVD.
Unfortunately, it is not as bad as described.

dammit.

Power came back on schedule. But a bunch of trees on houses throughout the city. I’m glad the tree people took down a bunch of limbs and dead trees here last month.

Gave Gordie his birthday Frosty Paws. He chewed it three times and swallowed.:dubious:

Me, too.:frowning:

Happy Birthday Gordie! I’ve been known to get a “pupachino” at Starbucks. It’s a cup of whipping cream for the doggos. :stuck_out_tongue:

Evening all. Never got the nap I talked about, the garage door company called and re-scheduled me for this afternoon, so I now has a garage door with battery backup (so if the power goes out, I’m good for a few days use) and wireless (no idea what I’m going to do with that). Also got all my tax info so spend a couple hours tonight with Turbo Tax and my Forms are on their electronic way. Should end up with some money back, not as much as last year (they deducted less for my taxes in 2019 than 2018) but still a nice sum.

Still raining here, and the temperature is heading down below freezing…may even be shudder snow.

Just read the newest parts of kaylasdad thread…so hard to lose someone you’ve loved all these years. Many if not most of us have been there in one form or another…still hurts.

Butters, hoping things get better and soon for you and Husband-unit.
OK, need to head off to bed soon–major laundry day tomorrow (finally, no contractors). All y’all take care.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 47 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 52 and possibly mostly N.O.S. by this afternoon. We shall see. OYKW has hinted at havin’ N.O.L. at the not too shabby Chinese [del]hog trough[/del] buffet place. We haven’t been in a while due mostly of bein’ tired of it as they always have the same things on the buffet. So I reckon we might do that. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.

MetalMouse yay for new garage opener and bein’ contractor free.

Butters good to know there’s a plan and place for hub’s ticker. The doc sounds like a good one.

{{{MoonUnit}}} hope the UTI clears up soonest and hope the thumb is better.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

****As usual, I woke first. I’ll tend to the critters till my sweetie wakes, then we can get ready to go. This tablet is going with us so you won’t miss me.

Hugs all around, because HUGS!!! And happy Firday!!!

Morning all. Up at 0730 and will be starting laundry soon; 31F outside heading for 40F, so the gas heat bill will be increasing.

Happy Firday!

It’s a rainy 43 degrees outside. We have a wind advisory and the temp is going to steadily drop down to 30. Days are supposed to get warmer, not colder.

Today I’ll be finishing the laundry and checking to see if the vacuum filters are totally dry. It so, I’ll put the vacuum back together and vacuum. If not, the vacuuming can wait another day.

Glad you and hubby are home** Butters**.

Have a safe and fun trip FCM

To say I’m far from impressed with 2020 up to now would be a gross understatement, and the start of February hasn’t begun any better what with the goings on in Washington. Let’s hope that, along with the waning of winter and the advent of spring, 2020 will blossom as well.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. The rain stopped, and Gordie finally went to the bathroom after 13 hours.:dubious: The wind is gusting at 26mph, so the power is flickering.

The Boy does not need extra sugar.

Is that Hedgehog shaped?

No, any drive across Ohno* can be an adventure; that’s how I woke up at wrong end of a state trooper’s gun.

Damn, we still need to use coasters. Ummm, I mean we’ll miss you, have fun. :o

  • With just a extra bit of pen on paper when writing the ‘i’ in Ohio, it becomes Oh no.
