Don’t know if you’ve seen it yet (she may be posting it here), but the Old Wench just let us know Ruble had a bad cardiac incident and is in intensive care.
This is Mrs. Kopek (Ruble in the MMP) with some serious news. I don’t usually post on these boards (except in the celebrity death pools) but I wanted to let you know that Kopek is in the cardiac intensive care unit in critical condition. I can’t go through the whole story right now, but he had an as-yet undetermined cardiac incident around 3:30 this morning and the paramedics and ER doctors had a hard time restarting his heart and breathing (numerous times). He is currently fully sedated, plugged into everything imaginable, and the doctors are most concerned about damage to his neurological functions due to oxygen deprivation. He is very sick.
If you’re Facebook friends, please don’t post on there; I’m still trying to reach a couple of people. I’m also going to post this to the current MMP because I know he hangs out there.
Good thoughts, prayers, etc. are all sought and fully appreciated.
That’s what happened to me. The docs figured out that my left ventricle wasn’t pumping at the right time, probably due to scar tissue in the ventricle wall from my heart attack, and they put in a fancy pacemaker that fixed it! It’s called a CRT-D. It has a wire that goes to my atrium, and when it ‘sees’ the electrical impulse from the atrium it sends an impulse down a wire to my right ventricle and then down another wire to my left ventricle in the proper sequence (timing). My ejection fraction went from 15 to 35 after they put it in and my congestive heart failure went away, (mostly). I still take a very mild diuretic daily (HCTZ) but I’m loads better, and my EF is back up to 55 now. The only thing was that I had some periods of atrial fibrillation for a few months after the operation. Also they forgot to take me off the major diuretic they had me on and I got dehydrated and passed out. The ER doc caught it though.
I know I’m just a sample size of one, but it might be worth while passing that on to hubby’s doc.
Dammit! I just found out about Ruble when I previewed the above. Dammit!
I woke up happy earlier today but am now teary over ruble. I haven’t given up hope. I’m just saddened that yet another Doper is in a health crisis, and such a good guy, too.
Wishing good health and happy outcomes for all who are suffering.
Howdy Y’all! We went to not too shabby [del]hog trough[/del] Chinese buffet around oneish for N.O.L. Still the same old stuff on the buffet, but since we hadn’t been in a while it was good. Any need to feed this evenin’ will be via forage.
Oh no! Prayers for ruble and you Old-Wench. Please keep us updated as you are able. Also, like Sunny said, please let him know we’re all pullin’ for him.
I had to put my littlest kitty to sleep yesterday. She was only seven. Somebody dumped her off in a cardboard box early one winter morning. She was the snuggliest, shyest, (with other people) wriggliest kitty I ever had. She had tiny white feet and looked like a calico version of that kitten in the Warner Brothers cartoon of the big bulldog. She was so friendly that if youlooked at her, she’d trill and do elevator butt, but if you said her name, she’d come running and singing. If you touched her, she’d lean so hard into scritches that she’d go totally pineapple-upside-down kitty and topple over.
She was always talking. The house seems utterly empty without her trilling at me.
This. Please do. When my mom was in a coma, docs told us they were sure she could hear at least some of what we were saying. I’d like ruble to know he has many people who are pulling for him.
On a lighter note, we were going to go to an art show/reception here in OC. But as we drove by, we saw people entering… in tuxes and such. Figuring our jeans and khakis wouldn’t fit in too well, we opted for a quick bite at Denny’s. Now we’re in our room chilling. It’s been a long day.
Evening. Mom, enjoy your vacay! margin, sorry about your kitty.
Went shopping with my DIL. We had a nice day. It was cold and windy. But bright sunshine.
The lil’wrekker is due in soon. I expect a giant pile of laundry. She’s in the upper classman dorms now. They have a big laundryroom. I’ve sent quarters and Tide pods back with her. She still brings laundry home. :smack:
The Siameezers are ignoring me today. After sticking to me all day yesterday. Go figure!
One more exciting tidbit… Guess which hotel is the site of a youth retreat this weekend? Guess who probably won’t be going to the pool or hot tub? Dammit.
sunny, around here, that’s called a pup cup and many drive thrus have their own version (Nelson was the beneficiary of one at the BBQ place tonight. They give out a condiment cup with smoked turkey).
doggio, the whipped cream in the cups is unsweetened. If you’re ok with giving your dog an espresso cup with dairy, the sugar won’t be an issue.
{{{OW and ruble}}} Let us know of anything that we can do to help.
{{{margin}}} Your kitty sounds like an awesome one.
metal mouse, the wireless is so that you can operate your garage door with a smart phone (you may have to edge a little further into the 21rst century ) and don’t have to carry a separate remote (bad to have in your car if it’s stolen. Gives the thief access to your home.).
I knocked off around lunch today, bought groceries, came home, walked Nelson and right before I was going to go pick up supper, the internet went out. Evidently, it was a local outage. Got everything up and running again and am settled in for the night.
We did get our snow this morning. A few flakes were coming down when I walked the dog and by the time I showered, purtified, packed my lunch and left for irk, I had to brush a wet layer off the car.
