This is getting out of hand. A friend of ours out here survived an aortic aneurism. He was video chatting with someone, who was able to call 911 and a mutual friend with his house keys and get him to the hospital. After a successful surgery, the doc said he shouldn’t have survived that.
Wondering if we need to cancel “Heart Awareness Month” as it seems to be causing problems for people.
Might not be a bad idea to change it to “Give a trusted friend or two the keys to your home in case of emergency” month.
Thanks to all of that took the time to google my daughter’s name.
Yes, I am proud of her. A best selling book and another coming out in April. I encouraged her to go into the sciences. Calculus, etc. But she wanted a liberal arts education. I told her, you already know what poverty is, you won’t have to adapt to it. But she has done quite well.
For my birthday, she gifted me a three hour spa treatment. Here it is called Maya ritual. It was the bomb. Never did a spa thing. Incredible!
Positive thoughts for all that are struggling with health issues. We can win this. Keep fighting!
We went to the hot tub and had maybe 5 minutes of quiet before 7 or 8 teenage boys showed up. Indoor pools are echo-y when full of teen boys. So we’re back in our room.
Breakfast was meh. The restaurant charged for refills on soda!!! Who does that?? Then we drove to Assateague and checked out the visitor center. The fee to drive in the park is $25, so we left. Then we were going to walk on the boardwalk, but FCD was hurting, so we returned to our hotel. Chillage shall ensue.
This post is kinda out of order, but it’s too hard to edit on the tablet. So deal.
That explains all my edits and typos. Ipad. I have a nice laptop that lives at irk to do irk stuff. Something is wrong with that picture. This morning finds hubs much better. He got a full night of sleep. I went to irk without my boot and boy howdy did I pay for that. Boot going forward.
I am ecstatic Hubby is better. Thought I was gonna lose him. He is not one to be lazy and has said a long time ago that should he become incapacitated just to put the gun in his hand. I am gonna hide it.
We have made a shopping list and will brave the WD soon. My foot is still paining me and he is weak so we will be a sight for sore eyes.
In 2014, Creamsicle adopted us. We think she might have belonged to a woman on the next street who died. She was a character. She had short little legs, so she’d ‘thunk’ when she jumped down from a chair. She loved climbing up on the roof, much to our consternation. She was a friend to Tonka. She died a year and a half ago at the (estimated) tender age of six when her kidneys failed, possibly due to eating a poisoned mouse somewhere. We could not be there when the vet ended her suffering. I wanted to be there, but the vet was busy that day. I worry about Tonka, who is about 16 now.
Got a really late start today because I was up most of the night with something that kept me running to the bathroom. Now I’m afraid to eat or drink anything lest I wake the beast and it returneth.
OW, all those nuns will probably drown me out, but I’m still praying. “No worse” is a win of sorts and enough to keep optimism flowing. I know you must be beyond exhausted and hope you can get some rest.
Moooom, Glad you got moved. Who the heck has a youth retreat at a hotel? All those I’ve heard of have kids in sleeping bags in church basements or dorm rooms or some such. And where are their chaperones?
margin, so sorry about your kitty. She sounds like such a sweet soul.
Howdy Y’all! Been a kinda bzzzy bear today. Did candle duty, had my meetin’ (a productive one even!), and braved :eek:Wally*World:eek: for a few needed items. Then I got to da cave and fed myself. Now I chill with a cuppa coffee. AHHHHHH Tomorrow I shall head to Valdosta, Jawja with two of my CDI cohorts to attend a church there. Valdosta has three whiskypalian churches. Everyone was assigned to visit one of those three churches between now and when we all meet up next in March to participate in and observe a service and to ask questions. When we all meet up again in March, in Valdosta btw, we shall all tour all three churches and then meet with the Priest and Senior Warden of each church to ask questions and talk with them about our experiences in all three churches. Brave of those folks to agree to be our guinea pigs! The church we shall attend tomorrow is very small, so I am sure our presence will be noticed. I mean there will be STRANGERS present! I’m sure none of this makes sense, and I have not explained all, but ‘tis a trainin’ exercise.
Sounds like at least a little bit of encouragin’ news about ruble. Prayers continue.
MOOOOOOM hopefully the move is to a somewhat quieter room, at least. May you be less plagued with the whippersnappers.
So you and hubby are kinda like two drunks holding each other up? (one of my dad’s favorite comparisons to him and Mom in later years)
The mulligatawny is good. After supper, I’ll prep a crockpot of mushroom-barley stew for the potluck tomorrow. It can go on low when I get up to pee in the middle of the night (may as well make use of that time ).
Evening all. Did some shopping and more putting away stuff, then nappage took over and watched some more TV (hey, you get a new big screen TV, you need to use it). Thought about going out for dinner, but decided to stay in and foraged about the refrigerator, headed to Lone Star tomorrow. Should be near 60F come Sunday.
Butters, glad you’re both feeling well enough to get out. Hope things keep improving.
swampy, enjoy your church-hopping adventure.
Moooommm, glad they moved you; and you’ll just have to find the times the kids are doing something else to use the hot tub…think of it as your ‘special’ date night…
Apparently ruble has heard some rumor to the effect that I am gay, accordin’ to Old_Wench, and wishes to meet up with OYKW and me to confirm whether or not this is true.
We had a lazy afternoon and a loverly dinner at a waterfront restaurant. Both got good and stuffded!
Our new neighbors appear to be a young family, and so far, they’re quite quiet. Yay. We should get real hot tub time tomorrow afternoon since the retreat kids have to check out by 11. So we’ll drive north for breakfast, then cross into Delaware and go to Rehoboth Beach for a bit. I’d like to get Roxy a t-shirt from there and from OC. Then back for hot-tubbing!
It has now been 212 hours without flooding in the apartment. And my sinuses are shedding their Fool’s Spring snot, and bringing in Winter snot. Which is making me miserable.
Took a much needed nap today. I’m waiting for my irk shift to be over so I can go back to bed.
My spiral ham is gone and so I have to figure out something to make for tomorrow. I could use the bone to make soup of some kind, I don’t know, I’m not like all you domestic gods and goddesses around here. I hate to cook.
Friend1 is not coming tomorrow. She drove to see her son and his family today. Not as long as a drive as to come here, but she has to get on 495. I’m sure if Dante were alive he would consider 495 to be one of the circles of hell.
What’s it been? Three weeks since we had the hard freeze with temperatures in the mid-teens? I set up a lamp to provide some refuge from the cold for the hummingbirds. We tried to keep the hummingbird feeder thawed. No sign of them. We presume they perished.
Today we saw one hummingbird. It didn’t stay long, and only came to the feeder once; but it was a hummingbird, and we were both happy to see it.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 66 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big plan of the day is the trip to Valdosta, Jawja to play I spy at St. Barnabas church. We shall leave from St. Pat’s at nine. Takes about an hour and a half to get to where we’re goin’. Hopefully we shall be back by threeish this afternoon. OYKW says he’s goin’ to be a good boy and deheatenate on his own this mornin’. Good for him. We envision bein’ the true gourmands that we are for sup by goin’ to that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner. We have not been there in a while so it might even be enjoyable.
FlyBoy yay for seein’ a hummingbird!
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Well, they weren’t kidding about the wind today; glad I got all the errands done yesterday, just hoping it’s better for tomorrow, as the drive in to irk can be a bit interesting when it’s blowy.
It’s 28 degrees outside and cloudy. Supposed to rain later today, with a high of 46.
Supposed to rain every day through Thorsday, with temps in the 40s and 50s. Then clear up and drop below freezing.
I woke up earlier than I wanted, Ripple decided it was time for me to get up and so I did.
All he has to do is stand next to the bed and stare at my face, works every time.
So besides irking today, I have to figure out something for dinner. I need to put the vacuum back together and do some vacuuming, as well as dusting and mopping. The windows in the front door need a good cleaning. It’d probably be easier to hang curtains and hide the dirt, but I like the sunlight coming in.
I wish all my windows were naked, but … nosy neighbors will make you cover up.
