A friend of mine, a 71-year-old grandmother of five, told me her son was told by an attorney recently about a new Federal law forbidding the spanking, or any other corporal punishment of children, even by their own parents. Is this correct? How could such a thing be enforced?

I haven’t heard of such a thing, and I’m sure the lawyers will check in, but this one doesn’t even pass the smell test. Laws regarding child abuse are the province of the state governments, not the Federal government.
