I am having a huge party tomorrow to show off my new deck. So far 20+ people have RSVP’d, which is twice the number I usually have at parties. I’m going to smoke some pork on the Weber gril, so it’d better not rain.
It’s not gonna rain. Not gonna snow in CO, either. Nope.
This weekend is something of a mixed bag for me.
I get my lovely bride back from Birmingham, so that is a good thing.
Unfortunately, I have to work both days (and next weekend as well) so that is a bad thing.
I will probably listen to the game on Saturday hoping that USA scores at least one goal.
I’m about to head down to Oregon to attend my friend’s ‘pinning ceremony’. Apparently she gets a pin for graduating nursing school. Eight-hour drive today, ceremony and hanging out mañana, driving back Sunday (and dropping her cousin off so she can catch a train in Eugene).
I’m looking forward to finding a Del Taco along the way.
I’m going to help my daughter out in her first village festival, she’s dressed as a soldier. I have no idea what to expect, but I get the impression that the pre-schoolers just walk round the village behind a float for a bit.
Then here for a night of unashamed luxury and handsdown the best food I’ve ever eaten. We’ve been before for super-special occasions (my mum’s 70th for insance) and the place is gorgeous and the food just sublime.
My best friend and her family will be there too, and we’ve each arranged a babysitter for the wee ones, so I’m looking forward to sharing it all with her. Then on Sunday I’m having a 3 hour massage/spa treatment. This is all to celebrate/mourn the fact that my best friend and I have turned 40 (well, I was 2 weeks ago, she’s in 2 weeks time).
We’ve set up a starter page on the event - www.zombiesforlibraries.com - but basically, the back parking lot of the Matthews Library. The Carolina Ghostbusters are going to be there too - with their authentic looking car!
Cinnamon - you’ll have to come to a Charlotte dopefest soon!
I’m getting my hair cut and my eyebrows waxed this afternoon (I’ll look human again - yay!), and hoping the misting lets up to be able to enjoy the Highland Games for the rest of the weekend!
A friend’s son is getting married tomorrow evening at one of the local plantations. The reception is open bar. Looking forward to a nice evening and seeing my friend’s son get all hitched up. Plus there’ll be some people there I haven’t seen in a while so that’ll be good.
Tonight- Dinner at Cafe Napoli with our good friends and neighbors. Sleep in and putz around tomorrow morning. Grandson’s christening and family celbration at noon while we all watch the cup match in So. Africa. Drinks and dinner on the deck with other neighbors Saturday night- golf Sunday morning and more drinks and dinner on the deck Sunday night… whew, need to return to the office Monday morning to sober up and prepare for next week-end…
Walking out of my office, not to return until Monday. I hate this place so much every Friday is like that blessed moment when the migraine medications start working.
Looking forward to dinner with friends both Friday and Saturday! Whoo Hoo!
I’m looking forward to the weekend being over- does that count? Next week is CAMP! Do you know what this means? This means I will be alone, gloriously, stupendously, irrevocably alone, all week! Woo!
Oddly though, the doper Alpine also lives in the Colorado mountains too. AND she has the same somewhat obscure job that I do. And, like me, works for County government.
