Holy guacamole! It’s 55° here a the moment! We had to pull the comforter over us last night (yeah, the windows are open.) It’s not going to last - by Tuesday, we’ll be back in the 90s, but for now, it’s loverly!
Not positive what the day’s plans will be - FCD was really hurting after yesterday. So we shall see. I need to watch Tobias tomorrow morning while SIL goes to PT, and after that, I’ll run some errands since I’ll be in that neck of the woods - e.g. near Aldi and WalMart and such. I expect we may go to the boat at least for a bit today, because I know my spousal unit.
Daughter contacted us about helping with Roxy’s tuition next year. When she started at the preschool, we were able to pay for her tuition in full, but thanks to some unpleasantly unexpected expenses (HVAC, spousal crown, several auto repairs, taxes, life…) we haven’t got a big pile of cash to spare. But it is important that Roxy continue at that school. And since Daughter has a new, better paying job, we don’t have to cover it all anyway. So we worked out a 60-40 deal to start, and if they get into a real pinch, we can throw in a little more. SIL’s folks won’t help, for reasons. Whatever - we’ll do what we can. I’ll also talk to them about continuing to put away the tuition amount in a savings account for when Tobias is old enough to go. Then maybe we won’t have to kick in at all.
Speaking of finances, MIL is a step closer to letting us deal with their finances. They had to write 2 checks the other day, and it took over an hour! MIL can’t see to write and FIL is just so out of it… Once she decides to let go, we’ll set up online accounts for their bank and their VISA. And we’re hoping they’ll send FCD the checkbook so we can write the checks for them (or have the bank send them directly, if that’s a service they offer.) FCD is already on their bank account.
We were also talking about handling their estate - I’ll be surprised if either of them live more than another year. But apart from a few pieces of furniture that FIL built that we’ll keep in the family, there’s nothing of theirs that we want. So I suggested we just sell the house furnished, including dishes and linens and such. I would think that would appeal to someone looking for a second home, or a rental property. Of course, when the time comes, we’ll discuss it with a real estate agent.
Caffeination continues - Happy Sunday!!
