Fin De HalloHanuThanksChristKwazaa - A Post Holiday MMP

He was like a toenail fungus. Irritating at first, then he really started growing on you.

Celebs are dropping like flies, I just had to do a lot more DeathPool work since Barbara Walters passed.

FCM, I hope that FIL has a quiet and painless passing. I’m glad you are planning on going away, you really deserve some you and him time.

Sari, how scary! Fingers crossed that Ripple doesn’t have cancer.

doggio, we all grieve in our own way and in our own time. I’m glad Alax Catt is picking up the slack.

Cracking up so hard here. He didn’t think that one through very well, LOL.

I am signed up for Tai-chi classes at the community center starting next Saturday, I will let you know how it goes. From what I understand, it is gentle stretching exercise and works on balance, which is what I need the most. Of course, it would be awesome if there was less of me but with my thyroid resisting all attempts to wake it up, that won’t happen any time soon.

If only there was a way they could tell us how they are feeling. It would stop a lot of fuss and worry. I hope the skin thing is simple.

I’m all about better living through chemistry. I hope he fully recovers.

Last week’s food box had a nice brie cheese so tonight hubs put it in the oven with some butter and garlic. When it was done, we sliced open the top and dipped bread into it like a little fondue. We both forgot how much we liked doing that, when we get into ruts we make big ones.

My woodpecker friendly suet feeder arrived Wednesday and I put it on the feeding station closest to my window. All of the birds said “OH NOES!!! A bird eating monster!!! Fly away, fly away!!!”

Hubs and I are both laughing because they are using the other feeder with no problem. All of the treats less than 50 feet away are shunned! Or they were until this morning when I let the other feeders get pretty empty. They sent a scout who was able to successfully eat and report back. They sent another scout who also came back with peanut breath. Suddenly it looked like a scene out of The Birds, every bird in the area swooped in to eat and drink.

Except the woodpeckers, haven’t seen a single one yet.

I know that GG is a big kitty. I guess I just forget until something happens that reminds me just how big he is. He will be two in April, VBC is probably at least 10. I took that pic from above them so it’s not just perspective making him look big. He’s just big.

Just got home … at three in the bleepin’ morning. We had what ya call a “late close.”

Back to do it all again at 3 pm tomorrow, for what’s supposed to be such a busy night that our manager is bringing food as a sort of potluck/bribe/keep everyone going. (Apparently, only the Superb Owl can top NYEve.)

This made me laugh.

Well, now that I’ve wound down, I had dinner - yes, at 5 am, but if you work a 9-5 and eat dinner at 7 pm, nobody bats an eye - and am now having dessert & contemplating the relative joys of being single.

Sure, there’s plenty that sucks about it - especially when it wasn’t by your choice - but I just ate sardines and raw onions, with some occasional garlic (on some lovely sourdough, thankyouverymuch) at five in the friggin’ morning, and nobody’s opinion matters but my cat’s. (Who, we learned today, is okay with sardines and will eat them because, hey, food, but didn’t lose his furry little mind like I expected.)

Okay, off to bed so I can fall asleep before the sun comes up. It’s a lot harder to sleep after dawn … and yes, I have blackout curtains in my bedroom.

Shoot, some of y’all are probably shuffling around making coffee already.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Ther’s a DENSE FOG ADVISORY currently. It’s also 45 degrees warmer than it was this time last week. Welcome to N.C.

Awwww. But it’s the old small cats that seem to have the most power over the other pets.

No, it is the Daywalkers who have strange customs.

Indeed.

Morning, mumpers! It’s 11c/51f with a predicted high of 11.2c/52f and cloudy, which looks pretty accurate. Weather app says “How typical. Another fucking shitty, overcast day”. I’ll take overcast and cloudy over snowpocalypse any day, thank you!

doggio glad to hear you have Gordie back at home where he belongs. It’s a tough adjustment, I still find myself putting a hand between the two sets of pillows on the bed and expecting to feel Ophie’s fur as that was one of her favourite spots to sleep.

{{{{{FairyChats}}}}} just 'cos…

shoe sardines in tomato sauce are extremely popular with Shadow, his furry little mind cannot understand why any human would want to interfere with his fish. Same with tuna, it’s all his and I am only allowed to have some under exceptional circumstances.

Not a lot going on today, I have been to the gym and survived bootcamp followed by spin and then barbell hustle. I left home later than I’d normally like but I think I avoided overstaying on the carpark by a matter of minutes. I know if I get another parking fine, the gym folks will get the parking company to void it, but it is just another little hassle.

Called in at big Sainsbury’s on the way home to pick up a couple of things that my local supermarket didn’t have when we shopped on Thursday. They also carry a brand of food that Shadow likes, but my usual places doesn’t stock so I bought some of that for him. Now we can batten down the hatches and wait until it’s safe to come out next year.

In other news, the seemingly abandoned white car that’s been outside our house for a week without moving, has finally gone. Someone must have been visiting somewhere, no idea where. I parked mine in that spot, I could have parked it on my off-street parking area but when I got back, the street was quite busy (football match today, and we are just on the edge of the home fans parking zone) so I parked on the road instead of faffing about getting the gates open. Might move it later, might not.

I have no further plans for the day, so professional slothage shall be accomplished. I have it on good authority that 'im indoors is making pork tacos tonight so I don’t even need to think about cooking.

JtC, GG is one big puddy tat! You have two beautiful cats there. You made me giggle with the peanut breath description. :stuck_out_tongue:

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. After that, the slothage shall commence. I’m debating on Chinese takeout or a torta from one of the local mercados for supper. Decisions, decisions!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Pfffft - his ridiculous suggestions would include alphabetical order. And that’s just wrong. Why would you put ginger next to garlic??? The very idea!!!

Holy crap on a cracker!!!

The weather-guessers were way off. Yesterday, I saw a forecast for rain starting today around 2 in the afternoon. I woke early and was reading and heard a downpour around 5. Not a big deal for me, but my daughter was hoping to take the kids to the playground today - that won’t happen. But they’ll be over her later today to run amok in the basement. I need to check with the deli and find out if they’re closing early for NYE so I can get our dinner in time. I may just go ahead and order delivery for around 4 and reheat as necessary.

I’ve started steaming some rice - later this morning, I’m going to make a batch of gołumbki from my grandmother’s recipe. I got a nice big head of cabbage so I’m hoping for a big batch. Haven’t made it in a long time. It will be tomorrow’s supper since it’s so much better the next day.

I ordered a twin size electric blanket for FIL. The hospital bed will be delivered on Tuesday, so I’m guessing he’ll be transported n Weds. FCD finally got a nurse to talk to the Dr for him and give him an educated guess - the doc thinks FIL has 2 weeks to maybe a month left. He’s not eating or drinking, so that could shorten the time. If only it happened before Wednesday - I’d hate for MIL to wake one morning to find her husband…

FCD has to take his brother some clothes today - I guess in rehab, they don’t stay in the attractive hospital gowns all day. I need to run to Food Lion for some Diet Cokes for MIL, and maybe some snackies for the kids. I’ll go once the rice is done, and after I shower and dress, of course. After all, it’s Food Lion, not WalMart!

Oh, yeah, I freaked out yesterday - looking over my checking account on line, I saw $20 withdrawn. I know I didn’t take any cash out, and I checked to see if FCD transferred it to his account - nope. I was worried that someone somehow got my account info and was doing a test withdrawal… until my brain kicked in - it was the check I wrote my mom for the Polish sausage she got for me. duh I was just about to call the credit union - glad I figured it out. That’s what happens when you cease to keep a regular check register… and when you hardly ever write checks.

Then a big charge showed up on VISA and I almost flipped, till I realized it was for the heating oil delivery - apparently the parent company has a different name from what’s on the side of the trucks. Sheesh…

And that’s how my year is ending. Soggy and confused.

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 71 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse until mid-afternoon. We shall see. We shall be doin’ prep work for the biiiiiig NY Day feast tomorrow. A sour cream pound cake shall be made today. I will also make up two meat loafs (meat loaves?), cook the collard greens cause they are better if cooked the day before then warmed up, get the black-eyed peas soaked and ready to cook, and make up the mac & cheese. So 'twill be a bzzy time with that. Any need to feed today shall be via forage.

JtC GG is one biiiiiig kitty! I like brie that way as well but live with a non-brie eater.

shoe sleep well!

MOOOOOOM with my mom hospice said four to six weeks and it was almost five weeks. It’s hard to predict when it will happen, but they got pretty close.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Been up for about half an hour, working on Mt. Dew. Last one of the non-diet, I’m going to have to develop a tolerance for the zero-sugar. I do not need 170 calories/can of zero nutritional value. Either my scale is going nuts or there’s something wrong with me. I really do not think I could have stuffed down enough extra calories to gain 3-4 pounds in a week without noticing some serious overeating.

Buddy’s quite unhappy with me. I cannot get the rain turned off at either door so he can go roam. He’s just going to have to cope. He’s indoors, safe, warm, dry, fed, and with plenty of attention available. He also has the option of going back to the bedroom to help DH sleep. He’s got it good here.

This is Jerry. He lived to be eighteen and was a good boy:

Our orange tabby, Ralphie, is about half that size

:astonished: I have been remiss! :astonished:

Short heave. I stopped a Harris Teeter, and got coffee. And coffee ice cream. And coffee porter. I sense a theme here… :coffee: In any case, I’ve got pretty much 3 days in a row off. Call me Thor, 'cause I’m getting hammered! :champagne: :beers:

* Bless your heart

Good morning all. Rainy outside but it is supposed to depart shortly and be a little brighter and about the mid-60’s F. Due to all the travel and catching up, this feels like a Moanday to me, have to keep telling myself it’s Sattiday. Not much on the agenda, I may review all my passwords and update them, but probably just watch tackleball all day. Back is doing ok this morning but I’m moving fairly carefully so I don’t get the pain-spasm again.

JtC, hippy, lovely cat pics, and I’m not a cat fancier by nature. Those are cute pus…felines.

Nettie, yeah Buddy knows things are good, but the grass is always greener… And I’m starting the new year testing Diet Pepsi/Pepsi Zero to see if one of them can replace my steady 3-cans-a-day Pepsi habit; that will help.

swampy, sounds like a traditional Southern meal for New Year’s; enjoy.

FCM, my uncle died at home with his wife being there, but it was not unexpected by her and she still had her wits about her, so it wasn’t too bad. Just hope MIL knows somewhere in her brain that this is probably it. And yeah, while compiling my 2022 records yesterday there were some big credit card chunks I had to look up because I couldn’t remember what they were for.

boo fae, enjoy the slothage; will probably do the same, but do need to pick up a thing or two at the grocery.

Shoe, my dad worked nights for many years, getting home around 5am and going to bed and then getting up in the afternoon to have dinner with us before heading out to work again. As a old retired person, I can safely say eat when you want to and what you want to, it all comes out in the end…

JtC, the birds certainly should appreciate you.

Happy Birthday Cupcakes!!

OK, need to get some stuff out of the dryer and finish the morning internetting, so all y’all have a good Last Day of 2022.

Cupcakes, I thought of you and your DeathPool work when I read that the Pope Emeritus died. And the year still has some hours left!

So, Happy Birthday?!

Late lunch is heated up, so I’m going to go eat. Probably will wander back in later after some of my own slothage.

Diet colas are fine with me. I prefer Coke Zero, but will drink Pepsi products if that’s what’s available. I just think no-sugar Mt. Dew tastes weird, but I’m just going to have to adjust. I’m sure my doctor would prefer that I skip the Mt. Dew altogether (caffeine and blood pressure issues tend not to be a good combo), but I’m not quite there yet. She did say she doesn’t want me to do any seriously restrictive dieting, just pay more attention to healthier eating habits. Fair enough.

The big priority for health habits, of course, needs to be more physical activity. So of course, we have one day in the coming week+ that isn’t at least a 25% chance of rain, and even when the exercise room off the leasing office is open, treadmills are mind-numbingly boring.

She knows, but as she said, he’s been the man in her life since 1949. It’s going to hit hard, even knowing.

I was trying to deal with BIL’s VISA. He had a balance of $4.99 when he went into the hospital. It didn’t get paid - so they slapped a $50 penalty on it. I called and explained he’s been in the hospital since Dec 8, but since I’m not on the account, they won’t talk to me. And being NYE, getting someone in charge ain’t gonna happen. So I need to wait till Tues to deal with this idiocy. The card does have a balance of points available - and the woman couldn’t even tell me if the points could be used to pay the balance. I understand privacy, but that was a simple question. And the bank’s website sucks. Anyone here familiar with SouthState?

I’ve been to Food Lion and I’ve got the dishwasher washing. Water is heating up to scald the cabbage. I’m about to have some messy kitchen time.

Happy New Year! Happy Birthday Cupcakes!

Today would be my anniversary.
