Fin De HalloHanuThanksChristKwazaa - A Post Holiday MMP

Magic Internet pizza is here and being eaten while we watch Ready or Not.

Howdy Y’all! A hefty shot of Kahlua turned my hawt chawklit/coffee concoction into the perfect day drink on the back porch drink. OYKW concurred. Watchin’ some tackleball now and may watch an episode or two of imperfects. Waitin’ on the Jawja - Ohio State game. Go Dawgs!

I am watching Kindred on Hulu. We’ve boiled chicken thighs for Polar’s dinner, and I will be having more prime rib soup for dinner.

JtC, I use Super Suet from Wild Birds Unlimited. It has mealworms in it and all the birds seem to love it.

Taz used to jump up on our bedroom door lever to get in. Now he’s too old to jump that high. But Tobias now knows how to operate the levers - which is how he got into their pantry.

Daughter and her kids have gone home. We had a nice visit but I’m glad it’s over. FCD is crashed on his recliner, and I’ll plop down in mine shortly. Maybe with a dish of ice cream.

Party on!!!

:confetti_ball:

Happy birthday baker!

Mooom, I made galumpki (along with pierogi, haluski and poppyseed rolls) when I went up north for Dad’s birthday in October. Usually, that’s the Thanksgiving menu, but we did it a bit early. Hope yours turned out well.

Jerry was a big, handsome boy hippy!

swampy, I’ll soak the black eyed peas tonight, although I’ll start the greens early tomorrow. I couldn’t find any nice turnip greens, but Sprouts had some beautiful collards for $.99 a bunch, so collards it is. I’ll make cornbread tomorrow too.

{{{butters}}

metal mouse, I initially read your plans as doing jumbles and cusswords.

I hear one of my !@#$ing neighbors across the fence starting in with the fireworks already. Looks like a night of cuddling Nelson. Chinese takeout has been eaten and I’m sipping on a Jameson’s and water in ways of celebration.

Am I wrong for being upset with my cat? He knocked over my tabletop Christmas tree and three ornaments are broken, the glass ones that are not cheap. I order them from Old World Ornaments, they are all cute dachshunds.

Well, if that’s the worst thing that ever happens to me I’m lucky, but I will have to shell out some bucks to replace them, the broken ones are still available.

I’m typing my fingers to the bone with all the changing of Death Pool lists. And some people wait till the last minute.

Have a Happy New Year everyone. Stay safe and warm if possible.

A major plus for the weather here. Over 2.5 inches of rain in the last 24 hours and it’s still coming down. The fireworks idiots are going to have a tough time indulging their pyromania.

I expect the fireworks to start any minute here (illegal except July 3 & 4). Pretty mild weather and dry so it will go on for hours.

I’m celebrating with Kraft Mac and cheese for dinner, have some pathetically cheap bubbly chilling in the fridge for later.

My wild NYE will be finishing up one murder mystery from the library and starting Louise Penny’s latest Three Pines mystery. Never did quite get out of my robe today, not that I tried that hard. Makes it easier when I stagger into bed after my midnight toast. NYE my way! Trashy novels and bubbly! :confetti_ball::tada::champagne::clinking_glasses::confetti_ball::tada: :open_book: :sleeping_bed:.

ETA: yep, 6:28pm, first fireworks in the grand capital city of Nebraska.

To all my treasured Mumper friends:

I read a bunch of book #14 this afternoon, and have been in my fancy NYE PJ bottoms all day (the black and silver ones). I dare anyone to keep up with us! :clinking_glasses:

There are serious upsides to having a not so smart cat!

Thank you, I will get me some of that and see what they think. Our spoiled cats think the little gray birds are OK, but they like the bigger ones better.

No you are not. You can be as mad as you want as long as you continue to dispense cuddles and gooshy fud on demand.

I’m really sorry about your glass ornaments, I’m sure it took you a while to find them. We have had one tree and it was such a pain that we never had a free standing one since.

I doubt the wet weather will stop the fireworks idiots out this way, but at least I’m not going to have to worry about having a fire start due to idiots with rockets.

I’m on my second glass of chilled mead and hubs is trying a new air fryer recipe so I’m avoiding the kitchen as much as possible. Our kitchen is pretty big, but there still isn’t room for two adults and a cat. GG takes up as much room as two adults without trying.

Sounds like Buddy’s notion of “sharing” the bed.

No fireworks here, and it’s pouring rain so maybe that is why.
I have a feeling Cerby won’t be chill about fireworks. We can double up on the Trazodone. Actually, we could triple up, I give him the bare minimum most days.
I want a happy chill dog, not a doped-up dog.
I think I upset him. He was at the door barking his fool head off and wouldn’t listen, so I smacked the table a few times. Shut him right up and he scurried past me to go lay down. I called him, but he kept going.
I feel so sorry for him, because he acts like he is afraid of me when I correct him. He wants to please, but he gets out of control and doesn’t know what to do.

MetalMouse Ripple is on two antibiotics (Cefpodoxime and Enrofloxacin) and two pain killers (Carprofen and Gabapentin).

I took a couple hour nap this afternoon, and feel a whole lot better for it.
I’m still going to bed early though. I haven’t been sleeping well so I probably need it.
I started a list of resolutions, for all the good it does. However, I realize I have to start making my health a priority this year. And my son has to get his license.

Ugh, I spoke too soon. The fireworks started and as expected, Cerby flipped out. I got him to quiet down for now. He’s, I don’t know if scared is the right word, more like concerned, and he looks at me like, Don’t you hear that? What are we going to do? Why aren’t you reacting? We need to do something!
I really think it comes from having no real authority figure in the house when he grew up and he thinks it’s his responsibility to take care of the problem. Somewhere in there, he has to realize that I am in control and I’ll take care of it.

The neighbors have started fireworks.
I have started a gin and tonic.
Alex Catt has given up on 2022, and has fallen asleep on my bed.

If he doesn’t cause occasional irritation he’s not really a cat.

Hope they help.

Wind’s up to 30mph with gusts. We have an advisory for gusts anywhere up to 50-55. Thankfully, Buddy’s stopped campaigning to go out. It finally seems to have sunk into his furry head that it’s not fit weather for him to be out in. We’re taking turns picking movies. DH picked Interstellar, then I picked You’re Next.

It has been very quiet here, which is very nice. I’m thinking it’s too cold and wet out for too much fuckery, but there is still time.

It is 2115 and both of us are yawning. I wanna stay up until the dishwasher is done so I can empty it before bed because I like to start the New Year with no chores waiting.

I am allowed (by me) to start a new project tomorrow despite having three in the works. I’m sorting threads and prepping the canvas tonight but no stitching will happen because the first counts have to be perfect and I’m feeling too festive to trust myself tonight.

Happy New Year everyone. Like Alex Catt, I am totally over 2022, bring on the new year!

Happy New Year (ET)! :confetti_ball:

:champagne:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :champagne:

The firecrackers are getting overbearing. And here I am with a sound machine without a volume button. Sleep is going to be tough, sounds like they are just across the alley.
Boom!:confetti_ball::tada: boom! :confetti_ball::tada: boom! Happy New Year!

Woke at 1 because, well, of course… FCD is watching TV in the living room. Hope I can fall back asleep.

Yeah, yeah, Happy New Year. <yawn >

Happy New Year!

As we have record setting warm temperatures, the firecrackers went on long after midnight. Managed to sleep until 8:15, basically sunrise. We have black-out curtains, but after 15 yeas, I think they are a bit more “gray-out” curtains.

In my cast iron adventures, I tried making a Dutch Baby this morning, but messed up the flour amount, tried to add milk to compensate, and ended up with an edible breakfast, but not exatly a Dutch Baby. Will try again - maybe next weekend.

Cleaned the shower - seems it’s been a while, so it really needed it.

Today will be extra exciting - I’m going through my printed out recipes and discarding 50%, at least. I have recipes I have been saving for 20 years. It’s time to get rid of them.

Today is another beautiful, way-too-warm day, so probably we’ll go for a walk later.

Guess I should go be productive. Or something like that.
