Maybe it’s the fact that you make extremely dumb comments regarding the conflict to the point where you classify Arafat and Saddam Hussein as Islamists and when I mentioned the Arabists in the State Department you sarcastically asked about Henry Kissinger and Madeline Albright(probably because they were Jewish) which would have caused any true Arabist to piss themselves laughing since Henry Kissinger practically was an Arabist and the Arabists were, and generally still are, big fans of him and even bigger fans of Baker.
Granted, your response made it pretty clear you had absolutely no idea what an Arabist was which shows just how superficial your understanding of the conflict is.

The accusation occurred in the Pit. In fact, in a thread called “Der Trihs Pitting du jour.” One might take that as a hint as to which forum it occurred in. As always, readers can judge for themselves what that bit of rage-fueled stupidity indicates about the person who voiced it.
No. I think that Mods are lax with him in the same way they are lax with several different debating points which–although they end up leading to the very opposite of fighting ignorance–happen to be sacred cows which the Board Powers are very afraid to touch.
Examples are:
FinnAgain’s personal bugaboo–the legitimacy of the state of Israel;
Rape being predominantly a crime about sex, not violence;
Alcoholics Anonymous being anything but an irrational, and therefore damaging approach to treating so-called “alcoholism” (more properly known as ‘alcohol dependence’, and often confused with ‘alcohol abuse’);
Theism existing as a belief worthy of the respect due to any other thing that can actually shown to exist.
That’s just off the top of my head–I’m sure there are more issues that the leaders of the message board that purports to “fight ignorance” won’t dare touch… but the topic of Israel is near the very top of the list of scaaaaaaaaary untouchables for TPTB at the SDMB, thus **FinnAgain **and his utterly senseless uber-drooling gets a free pass…

“Fighting ignorance” or not–it jus don’t matter-- they suffered so mightily during WWII (and no doubt before) that they simply can NOT do anything wrong, and obviously deserve a nifty parcel of land (made nation) as a consolation prize.

Of course, the only people who claim that “Israel can do no wrong” are folks who are extremely frustrated that the anti-Israel arguments that they just know to be right keep getting scythed down by pesky facts. The lie that anybody has claimed that Israel can “do not wrong” is actually a very good shibboleth that distinguishes those whose arguments have utterly failed, and who have to resort to making shit up to even attempt to stay in the game.
The second bit of bullshit was that anybody gave Israel a “parcel of land” or “made” it a nation. The UN did nothing other than write words on a piece of paper, and the members of the UN were quite pointed in their comments that they would not even go that far in their support if Israel would not be responsible for its own defense; exhausted by WWII no nation was willing to ‘make’ Israel a nation. What actually happened was that after the British withdrew, those people living there fought a civil war and a war against an invading seven nation army. Against that backdrop the proto-Israelis created Israel themselves and brought the nation into existence by exercising sovereign control through well established administrative bodies.
But I suppose that it can be much easier to simply rant about how that’s all “senseless” and get angry at a mod bias that doesn’t actually exist in reality.
SFG, you’re so smart. In a discussion over whether or not a comment evinced bigotry, I used the word “bigot” and its adjectival form. You caught it, yay, go you! You’ve sure made your point that in discussing bigotry, people will tend to use that word.

Rather obviously trying to give someone a hard time for simply using the words “bigot” or “racist” in the context of them making a factually grounded accusation of bigotry/racism is a pretty obvious attempt to piss someone off simply for the sake of pissing them off. As if freaking out over the word “racist” being used in a Pit thread where a poster was being accused of racism was somehow sane or rational. (Despite his patently obvious faux ‘kind concern’ for me, Giraffe never could show how I was wrong or identify a way of making the accusations I made that wouldn’t make him spaz out, all while denying that he was simply needling me for making accurate claims that he just couldn’t deal with.)
