Since I knit, and since CongoDwarf lives in a warm climate, we had said we’d put it on hold for a while. I’m thinking now I’d be willing to make her a pair of socks, though – I love making socks and always have a pair going – so maybe I should get back in touch with her, eh? Of course, she’s as unlikely to need a pair of socks this summer as she will be to need a hat or scarf…
Started and finished. Didn’t like a component. Started all over again. May scrap it again if I can get my son to let me near the chop saw I got him for Christmas.
No, it’s not as fantastic as that sounds.
I love socks! But you’re correct, I am unlikely to want to wear knitted socks for at least another 4 months. The spring finally came to MA. I’m assuming summer isn’t far behind.
I have talked to Hello Again to find out what she’d like and I have a pretty good idea what she’ll be getting but I keep changing my mind about the specifics.
Cool. I’ll send you a link so you can pick out your yarn.
Oh that’s not necessary. I like all socks. I even like my mom’s rainbow knee-high socks. Anything is fine and surprises are good.
These are NOT going to be kneesocks! (I just made a pair for my sister – took a year, off and on, and I said “never again.” )
Don’t tell!!!
I am really excited about the toy I’m making for Zyada as it is a pattern I’ve admired for a long time but never had the right person to give it to. It should be a good challenge (it involves crocheting backwards with your left hand, as well as regular rows) and hopefully come out looking really cool!
HAH! I’m not surprised. I don’t actually like wearing knee-socks because I can never find any that fit over my fat calves and still manage to fit my little feet. I just like how they look on other people. I think socks are fun. You can wear a totally black and boring outfit and throw in a completely random pair of socks and suddenly the outfit isn’t boring any more.
Oddly enough, most of my own socks are white ankle socks. Fun socks are expensive.
Don’t worry, I won’t! Even if I did, I’d probably still change my mind again.
Just let me wrassle this elephant down to the post office, and then I’ll get going on it! LOL!
I have a pretty good idea what I’m making for Biggirl, but it won’t get started for another few weeks.
(No, I’m not telling! )
I have a few different designs in mind, I just need to decide on colors now. I also need to replenish some materials; I’ve become increasingly dissatisfied with the crimp beads I’ve been using, and I need to try some other options.
Just received my package from Congodwarf! I received the most gorgeous brown & green beaded cuff with the most impossibly clever magnetic clasp since I told congodwarf I find regular jewelry claps impossible. Brilliant!
I also received an adorable and hilarious figureine of a pig with a squid riding on its back. It shall have a place of honor on my desk! What fun!
The yarn for Zyada’s craft arrived (um, of course I used it as an excuse to buy more yarn, why do you ask?) and I’ll be crocheting away starting this week
Kismet. Ordered the yarn for CongoDwarf’s socks just today.
CD – don’t forget to email me the length and circumference of your foot, plus the circumference of your ankle and the circumference of your calf about 7" above the floor. I’ll see what I can do to make you some socks that will fit.
Hello Again - I’m so glad you like them! I actually dreamed the pattern for that bracelet. I had never done one with holes before. It kept nagging at me after I woke up so I had to give it a try. The trial one wasn’t pretty. Yours was the second attempt. The clasp idea was a modification of an idea my uncle gave me. If you have any problems with the bracelet, just send it back and I can make adjustments.
Twickster - I will do it tomorrow. I’ll have access to a seamstress tape then so it’ll be easier.
Post pix!
Hello Again might like to post her own pics but until then, I always take pics of stuff I make so I put some on photobucket.
This is the little piggy with the squid on his back before I glazed and baked them.
This is the pattern for the bracelet, before I attached the closing mechanism.
This is the bracelet with the closing mechanism. There are magnets on each side, attached to the bracelet itself. The partner magnets are attached to the string of beads which is held by the holes in the pattern. The magnets are too big to fall out of the holes.
This is how the closing mechanism comes together.
Thanks for posting the pics - I only have a cell phone camera at the moment.
Cute! and pretty! and ingenious!
Did you get it yet, exchangee?
