First annual SDMB Craft Exchange

TriPolar was right. It’s an abomination. However, I will selflessly offer to remove it from your sight.

This is a joke. (A lame one.) That is one seriously beautiful piece of woodworking.

I agree, the box is seriously cool. I was expecting a regular box, not a puzzle box!

Thanks Twix, and everyone else for the nice comments. The shape is ok, though the proportions could be better and the lines smoother. But I can still see all the flaws in the pictures. I’m gonna have to do another one to get it all right. I’ll be willing to trade if I get it done better.

Was I supposed to make one for you too?!? If so, I have some more bad news…

 Um…sure you were!

I meant when I opened the pictures I was expecting to see a regular box.

congodwarf, honey – I finished your socks on Christmas, and threw the second sock, plus the yarn label with washing instructions, plus a big envelope, into my bag before heading to my sister’s for a week. Unfortunately, the first sock is not in my purse, where I thought it was, leaving me to infer it’s in the knitting basket next to my TV-watching chair. Oops. I’m not going to be home before Sunday, so I won’t be able to mail this till next week – sorry!

hehehehehehe!! That’s quite all right.

Okay, I’m finally checking the list.

I have the following people as confirming that they have received something from their crafters:

twickster
Hello Again
Trucelt
missred

and the following say they’ve mailed, but their recipient hasn’t posted yet:

Zyada
Biggirl

If anyone wants to add their name to one or both of these lists before I start sending out follow-up emails, please do.

It took even longer than I re-planned. But it has been shipped and is on its way.
It should be there next week.

I’m way behind - but Chromaticity knows what I’m up to and the challenge I’ve taken on - so hopefully will hang in there a bit longer. . .

I sent mine out today. A bit late, but xoferew was out of town until yesterday, and she knows it’s coming.

Also, Chromaticity has been in touch with me, so I know that one will get here when it’s done.

I’ll report when anything happens.

Well, Biggirl’s package is in the mail (finally!).

I took pics, but couldn’t get them uploaded to Flickr, so, nothing to show y’all.

It’s here! And it is beautiful! amarinth knitted me a gorgeous scarf–cable pattern in grey and off white.

Thank you so much!!!

Here are pictures of my journal and a lovely handmade card to boot!

Thank you, missred.

I’m glad you like it!

I’m a terrible secret santa type person this year, but I do have my gift for freckafree. I sent her a PM to get her address, but I haven’t heard back yet.

However, I did get my present from Hello Again. It is a gorgeous bowl of felted purple, green and cream stripes. Now I just have to figure out what goes in it.

I heard from xoferew today, so I know the scarf I sent her arrived safely. So there’s one that can be checked off the list.

And I’m mailing today – three weeks after finishing the socks! – so that will be another.

I’ve got a break in the work flurry I’ve been in, so am going to be taking another look at the master list today or tomorrow – if anyone else has a status report, please post it.

Thanks.

Oh phew. That takes a load of my mind. I’m glad you like it… I was mostly happy with the way it came out, though it didn’t felt as stiffly as I hoped. I thought about applying starch to stiffen it more but then I thought allergies, etc are a minefield so just let it alone.

I took a crappy photo of it before I put it in its shipping box… (click on photo at left to see larger view)

Thank you Twicks! I love them. They fit very well and I love the colors. I’m gonna have to be extra careful that Iggy doesn’t get his destructive teeth on them like he does with all my other socks!

SOCKS!!!

Oh good, it does look like they fit! I thought I’d made them too big in the transition between the leg and the foot, and/or made the foot too wide. Phew!

Enjoy! And yes, they’re machine washable – I usually line dry mine, though, instead of putting them in the dryer.
