My usual Thursday awaits. Mid-80s to low 90s for the next few days. Not good, but better than last week’s triple digits.
DH’s mood seems to be improving about the layoff, to my surprise. He thinks it’ll be a relief to him to not have to watch further dismantling of the plant. Let’s hope another round of gloom doesn’t hit him and kill job-hunting motivation.
My own job search still blows. Majorly discouraging to NEVER hear back (a lot of sites aren’t even doing ignore-bots at this point).
GT glad you survived Teh Apocalypse. All y’all in the path of it today be safe.
Ok, time to dive in to irk. Gotta go prod folks to get their recertification stuff done or risk bein’ put on leave without pay or bein’ exited for noncompliance. Such a fun part of irk is this!
Huh. Apparently that’s me. I knew it was raining, but I was unaware that the Weather Channel has a big ol’ red overlay on all of New Jersey. Maybe the power will go out at work. After Irene and Sandy, I think we’re all just kinda meh about it. Roomie’s brother is supposed to fly out tonight–I think maybe he’s going to be spending a long time in the airport.
Last night was full of frustration as I couldn’t get my new laptop to recognize that my printer is also a scanner. I need to scan things before I print them, dammit. I might pull out my old laptop and see if it works any better. Or I might just go out to a Staples or something and use their stuff, because I’ll get done faster and not waste any of my own printer toner.
Well- the good news is that the vet (to my complete surprise) thinks it’s worth trying to remove the tumour- it’s actually smaller than the one my housemate’s mouse had last year, but it’s apparently in an easier-to remove place. It’s risky, but she’s going in on wednesday to get it removed.
I then got back home from the vets, to discover the guys painting the house had decided to replace the broken fence panels while they couldn’t paint due to rain. Replacing the fence panels is not a problem (they’ve been down for over 6 months, and I’ve reported it to the agency at least 3 times), but they’ve also hacked down a massive load of the plants out the back- they claimed they’d just taken down all the weeds, which some of them were, but they’ve also dug out/trampled/thrown junk on top of loads of stuff I’d bought, or my Mum gave me.
When I complained, the guy just shrugged and insisted that he wasn’t to know that, for example, an aquilegia in full bloom wasn’t just a weed, and that I was being totally unreasonable:mad:
He just kept pointing at the bit right by the fence, and saying they had to clear that to get at the fence, which yes, fine, they did have to clear that bit- there were a lot of brambles under the broken half the panel, and I hadn’t been able to move it, but they’d hacked down over half the back yard, most of which was nowhere near it. He then insisted it was my own fault anyway, because there was stuff randomly thrown around- which had been thrown around by the idiots who put up the scaffolding.
I really hope this stressy session ends soon, I’m really getting to the end of my tether now… I’m still waiting to find out if I get all my benefits cut off because of that letter I didn’t get.
Up too early, need coffee apartment is a disaster and I am blowing off irk to fix it.
Complicated saga of the cute redhead saw progress last night, I have tasted the sweet nectar and am looking forward to the meal ( that is just kissing you pervs )
I noticed that too but had just upgraded (Ha!) to Win7 and attributed it to that… perhaps mistakenly.
I watched some of the Bruins / Blackhawks game last night but never having played hockey I get lost pretty quick on the penalties, strategy, etc. Now maybe I have an inkling of the confusion the NFL has for Brits, etc.
It’s 74 degrees outside and to say it is cloudy would be an understatement. It’s black outside and the downpour just started.
Well It didn’t last very long but it is still dark outside.
Don’t know what I am doing today. Irk of course.
Verizon comes to fix the phone which will probably be a waste of time because after all the storms they will probably have to come back out.
Ha! I don’t think he will let me do that. I can tell you the man a nice butt though.
FCM I am not sure LibbyCat would like the roomie - she puffed up, hissed and ran away from the neighbour kid last night. LibbyCat does not like strangers.
We are going visit mr ems Dad this weekend seeing as it is Father’s Day and mr ems also has a golf game Saturday morning so this weekend I will be mostly sleeping and enjoying the sunshine.
