You try branding the kid with one of those names and Mrs. LeBeef may make the Bean an orphan in advance!
And Mr. LeBeef would deserve it…
:)We are actually looking at some family names, and some connected to the conception (We were camping).
Although, I’m a little disappointed that we couldn’t use Chlamydia for a girl. Such a pretty name.
Congratulations! That’s wonderful!
Another “elderly” first time mom story: My father’s mother was about 40 years old when she married. (This was about 100 years ago.) Everyone in the community said, “Well, she’ll never have any children, and if she does she won’t live long.” When my dad was born they said, “Well, she’ll never have any more, and if she does…” She proceeded to have two more, and she lived well into her 90s, succumbing to lung cancer despite never having touched tobacco in any form. All of her children were perfectly fine (except for the one still living, my aunt, who is a fanatical devotee of a religious cult).
Whew. I was worried when I saw the OP date and then an update.
Congratulations!
My parents were a little older than you. Work hard to keep yourself fit and healthy so you can do fun physical stuff with the kid down the road.
You laugh, but I knew a Candida once - dragged a gullible friend of mine around by the balls for a year or two. But then with a name like that you wouldn’t necessarily expect a mellowed-out atitude.
Hope all goes smoothly with Junior!
Congrats - My husband was 48 when our son was born (I was 45). We’ve got a daughter 10 years older than her brother. A big surprise. Big, big, big surprise. Especially for my husband who spent a lot of time worrying about being an ‘old dad’.
I admit that on occasion he & I still think about how old we’re going to be by the time he’s an adult but mostly we just really enjoy him. I’m sure that you & your wife will have a lot of fun and happiness.
Congratulations! May things continue to go well for you all.
And I think Braise LeBeef would be a cool name.
We adopted our son in 2003, making me a not-quite-43 year old first time Dad.
It’s something I wanted for a very long time, so I can’t think of a single negative thing t osay. Enjoy every second that you can.
Bump
Jackson Manuel Anderson was born Sunday morning, 9 pounds 4 ounces and 21 inches long.
Mom and baby are great, although Dad has seen things. Things no man should ever see and needs a bit of a lie down.
Congratulations. Get all the sleep you can right now. 'Cause it’s going to be a while…
WOOT! Mazel Tov!! Now, where are pictures? taps foot impatiently
Congrats! Being a first- and second-time dad in my 40’s, I remember this thread and had wondered how things were going.
I’m totally envious. I wasn’t a particular fan of little babies until my own were born. Now I think they’re the coolest thing in the universe.
Congrats! Nine pounds, that’s impressive!
Congrats!! Now chill. There’s a big segment of society that thrives on making parents scared. As with any advice - especially unsolicited advice - smile, nod, say “thanks for sharing”, and do whatever you want. It’s you, and it’s your kid. Besides, you’ll get contradictory advice, often from the same person. So chill, rest while you can, and enjoy! BTW, there are advantages to being an older parent. I much better control of my temper than when I was younger, just for one example.
Yay! Drinks are on you, right?
They don’t call it that any more. Evidently, the word “elderly” was upsetting to a lot of women. Now it’s “advanced maternal age”.
Aw welcome to the world little one! Congratulations to you and your family!
Congratulations to the whole family!
