First TV show to be cancelled after 9/25/2014

Dallas has been cancelled by TNT. Not sure if it counts.

Interesting. I was wondering why it was still on.

Crap! I found myself really liking the series after initially having low expectations for it.

TNT didn’t help matters by splitting the season in two. I didn’t even know it came back on in August until about three weeks later.

I’ll have to watch it on line after I finish my current work assignment. In the meantime, I hope another network picks it up for next year.

I actually really liked the Shonda Rhimes show **Off the Map **a few years ago, but it was cancelled very quickly, no second season.

So she doesn’t ALWAYS know where the bodies are buried, apparently.

I know. It was my favorite of her shows, favorite new show of that entire year even, and it only lasted a season :frowning:

Mamie Gummer was great in that, wasn’t she? It was the first time I’d seen her act and right away, I was convinced she was destined for greatness.

Media Buyer checking in.

“Selfie” is probably going to be a hit. BTW, you all know that it’s a modern take on My Fair Lady, right?

The main shows I’m avoiding buying for fear that they won’t be airing when my campaigns start are “Mysteries of Laura” and “Mulaney”. As much as I love John Mulaney,I’m hearing bad things about the show and I don’t think he’ll be able to lure viewers.

Black-ish is going to do well. I watched it and it’s really funny, and does a good job of making the specifics universal, and the universals specific - if that makes any sense. Anyway, it’s solid and has a really strong lead in w/ Modern Family so it’ll stick around.

I think “Scorpion” is going to do ok. CBS doesn’t flop often w/ procedurals.

“Bad Judge” , “Manhattan Love Story”, and “A to Z” are also all on my personal doomed list.

I don’t think Dallas should count as first new cancelled show, because it wasn’t a new fall show. Only shows that are new from September on should be in the running.

That’s really what I had in mind for this thread. Maybe my wording was vague enough not to have said it. But “Just New Shows” getting zapped was what I was wanting guesses for.

Usually there would be carnage by now!

Yeah-where are the one/two episode megaflops we usually get every year?

I think if it hadn’t had the atypical arrangement another poster mentioned above, I think Utopia would have been relegated to online finish only and off the air already.

You nailed it. “Mulaney” was probably the worst new show of the season, and “Mysteries of Laura”, “Bad Judge” , “Manhattan Love Story”, and “A to Z” weren’t too far behind. “Scorpion” was terrible, too, but I’ve given up trying to figure out why any of CBS’s shows appeal to anybody.

We deleted “Dominion” from our PVR recording list today - we gave it a fair shot, but we found that watching a taped episode today seemed to take about three hours - we were just so uninterested and bored by the whole mess. I love post-apocalyptic anything - these guys have managed to avoid doing anything even remotely interesting with the genre, though.

I love Anthony Head, and wanted to like the show, but he’s possibly the worst part of it, with one of the worst accents I’ve ever heard - he seems to swing between British and Texan, with stops in Midwest and God only knows what else.

I finally say “Mulaney” the other night, and dear God was it awful. Did they deliberately try to find the worst actor in Hollywood to play the lead?

GrandWino did you buy a lot of ads for Utopia??

He’s an SNL writer and standup comedian. He’s absolutely hilarious, too, but he’s going to have to spend some time figuring out what a show based in his comedy should look like. Much like Louis CK.

I wouldn’t say ‘argue’ so much as ‘I think one of them stands a chance.’ Manhattan Love Story. It’s cute. I enjoyed it enough to give it a second try.

I couldn’t get through an episode of Selfie; but because it had John Cho I gave it a second chance. It might not be too bad.

I really like Forever. But then again, I liked New Amsterdam. It’s a cool idea.

John Mulaney show… ugh. I can’t even give this show a chance because the the awful Martin Short silliness

He’s not an actor, he’s a comic and writer. He was mostly responsible for Bill Hader’s “Stefon” character on SNL and his standup is fantastic. Jerry Seinfeld wasn’t an actor either and got the same criticisms. The problem w/ Mulaney’s show is that it seems to be trying too hard to be another Seinfeld, and it’s obvious.

Well, I wouldn’t say I bought zero ads in Utopia… But I gave it a low enough rating that I should be ok. (A big part of the job is projecting ratings and we’re “graded” after the fact once the new books come in to see how close our projections are. I didn’t expect this one to do very well - but it was also cheap, so it was worth buying here and there).

I’ve been seeing commercials for some piece of shit called Cristela or something like that for the last few weeks, I think it begins tonight. Hopefully it’s canceled by breakfast, as it looks like the most awful generic 90’s style sitcom ever, BUT WITH HISPANICS! Haw haw haw, how novel! Somewhere George Lopez is rolling in his grave. What’s that? George Lopez isn’t dead? Just his career? Oh.

I’ve seen them, too. Not even curious! Funny as Ebola.
