Flash game - say goodbye to the next 3 hours

Fun addictive game - level 37 did me in.

Finally died at 29; work kept interfering with my concentration.

Must find my Warcraft III cd when I get home…

Well, I improved… 3825 on level 38. Damn that level’s hard, and I had almost a dozen maxed-out rocket towers. How the heck do some of those people get such high scores despite not passing level 39?

That was fun. I played it last night twice. The first I think I got to level 34 or 35 or something, with over 2000 points. But then I get my ass kicked.

It’s not “addictive” unless someone comes along and coughs up some strategy for getting past level 35-ish.

Should I be selling my old towers and getting all newer combo ones? Where should I be placing towers?

I’m not going to keep playing if I have to start over from the beginning each time. It’s a fun game, but that takes too long.

I only made it to level 36. But by then there are so many baddies that I’m not sure how to keep up with them. I’ve got the towers placed where they give maximum coverage, and I maxed out the hardest-hitting ones, but they’re not doing the damage fast enough.

Made it to 39, but can’t beat that level.

I followed this strategy:

  • don’t bother upgrading towers (except cannons at first). Don’t overbuild towers - keep cash earning interest if possible.

  • don’t bother with arrow towers, air towers or earth towers.

  • build 3-4 cannons at first & upgrade 'em a bit. Then save cash until you can get fire. Build a few of 'em.

  • Then save cash until you can get water. Build some; then save until you can get rockets.

  • Build a couple & max 'em. Then save until you have lots of money. Build more rockets; and some water.

Damn. Got to level 37, with a score of 3309. I really do want to know how the fuck those people get in the 100k range.

There’s a forum that gives the strategy — seems like quite a few people only invest wood in interest, and only buy as few towers as possible (using all cannons unless an air round is coming - maybe an arrow tower or two for boss rounds). There are some pretty interesting strategies on there.

I got about 6600 using only cannons, then fire, then rockets. I ended up with about 10 rocket towers firing off and the game ended after level 39.

Yeah, I tried one of those strategies - got distracted toward the end and forgot to buy enough lives to survive level 38… Had a score of upwards of 97K when I ran out of lives. With an additional 35% bonus on that coming, I can see the scores in the 150K range or more.

Twas a little boring though, just cannons and the occasional air tower. Much more satisfying to build ten or twelve super rockets!

3844, level 39.

Put rockets into the center block.

fire towers, only invest wood in interest.

You hooked my SO on this! Who is not even a Doper.

I had a few minutes before I left for dance tonight. So I loaded up this game, and was idly clicking on it. He came over and started giving me some tips, etc. Well, I only played one or two levels until I saw he was really into it, so I said, “I’m going to get dressed, why don’t you play?”

I go and get dressed and I come down and he’s still playing. I give him a kiss and say “Have fun with FF 12.” I go to dance class.

I come back two hours later and he’s got the FF on and yeah, I know he’s been playing it some because he finally got the Torunesol - but there is he is again, on that game, on level 25. I didn’t look at his score.

So, yeah, thanks a lot! :stuck_out_tongue:

I LOVED this level in Warcraft 3… I beat the crap out of that level… I AM going to waste hours on this!..

Level 37 with a score of 3329. I don’t think I maximized the gold/interest aspect of the game. I really could have used another 500 gold to get through 37.

i went Arrow -> Fire -> Rocket, with some Water sprinkled here and there. this is my standard strategy for unfamiliar maps; just enough ‘land and air’ towers to keep a comfortable buffer while upgrading towards the last tower as soon as possible.

this map is ok difficulty-wise, with a gentle curve till the spike from 35-39. i’m content just to complete it though, as it looks like serious tweaking is needed to even approach the high scores. (i just saw scores above 200k!!)

maybe i should check out warcraft again. i wonder if the ‘offensive’ tower maps are still popular?

243,434 and currently 7th. I think the top 4 scores are bug exploits. The mass cannon thing does work, but fire and rocket turrets are way more fun.

Damn you level 37! My coworkers hate you even worse than I do!

I got level 39, never lost a life, and had about 15,000.

I pretty much used about 2-3 cannons for a while, then,
a fire tower,
2 fire towers,
Upgrade,
Rocket,
Upgrades,
RocketS.

To save as much as possible you should use the minimum amount of fire power that you need each level, obviously. IOW, if you’re killing everyone before they get halfway through, you have too much fire-power.

Beyond that I’m not spending the time for tweaks. . .for instance, does it make sense monetarily to build an arrow tower in round 1, sell it, then buy a cannon in round 2 instead of buying another arrow?

Does it make sense to bump up your interest rate early and delay getting a rocket until round 28 at the cost of a lot more building and confusion?

Perhaps I’m wrong about the rockets altogether. Maybe you want lower tech weapons and just fill every square inch with them but I don’t think that’s cost effective.

I must admit that it’s fun just creating “death alleys” of water and cannon, but that’s not going to get you through the late levels.

I found the use of cannons then fire to work quite well, with the rest of the wood spent on interest.

I think with the bosses, don’t worry about building up a huge amount of fire power to take them out on their first trip around the maze, especially in the later levels as the amount you spend to do it is much more than the amount the steal from you.

After about three hours of play:
Score 3955
Level 39
