Have you completed level 39?
Scored 1674 and got to level 39. I didn’t pay close attention, but I will be playing until 4 when I leave for work!

Level 39, 5,414 on my second try. I can definitely see this becoming a serious time waster.
And on a childish note: "You get wood every 7 levels…" snerk
Woohoo, Level 39, Score: 11089 with 3540 pieces of gold and 18 lives to spare.
Ranked #522
Too bad it doesn’t go past level 39…
Level 27, 1127 on my first try. I will do better next time.
Dang. I didn’t realize it only had 39 levels. That means I only have four levels to go. I HAVE to keep playing now.
I suck at these, so I am happy to say that after 5 tries I did make it to level 38 (but only scored about 2400:().
Okay I’'m not usually a game player. I don’t understand this. Are creeps the things like rabid dogs and sheep? And why couldn’t I get one tower to fire at all?The instructions aren’t instructions at all, just the point of the game.
StG
The creeps are the dogs/sheep/thingys. You have to kill them before they get through the maze.
The cannon that would not fire was probably designated “air”, meaning it would only hit flying things.
The first tower hits ground and air targets, just not with a lot of gusto.
The second is a cannon and hits only ground thingys and the last hits only things in the air.
You have to choose and place your towers to have the most effective damage.
How do make so much money?!
I tried all arrows, died in 37
Then went crazy with rockets, finished 39 but only 8000 points.
I am very risk tolerant (last critters died at the very end of the path) so I don’t think I am overbuilding.
What’s your strategy?
Woo hoo! Made it to level 37 with 5222 points.
I figured out what I was doing wrong. Buying way too many towers early on, and wasting air towers I don’t need.
At the end there, I had enough money to buy more rockets but realizing I was in trouble, started panic buying additional lives. Alas, too slow.
But now I’m on to this sucker!
Thought I could do better than my 243k from last night, and managed 252,375 points (and roughly 250k gold as well). Still some mistakes, but laying down overlapping cannons is a pain in the butt so I’m not going to try to improve on that.
The key to high scores is taking all or mostly interest as upgrades, instead of buying the research with your wood. The easy way to do this is to use just a couple cannons for the first 7 levels, buy fire with your first upgrade, then sell the cannons and use a single fire tower in the top centre (so it can hit creeps as they enter, as they pass through the middle, and again near the end). Upgrade it as needed, and eventually add more fire towers as they become necessary. Spend all subsequent upgrades on interest. You’ll have to cover the map with fire towers on the last few levels, I believe, and possibly buy a few lives as well.
What I did was do only interest for upgrades, and built only cannons except for air towers on the three air levels (selling most just as the level ended) and a few arrow towers on the boss levels (again selling them right away). And I followed a guide in the forums there about how many towers are needed for each level, except that I tweaked it a fair bit, and used overlapping towers in the best locations on the map to gain greater efficiency. And on the last level, bought a lot of lives as well. 3 of the little buggers actually made it through the gauntlet twice, although that was partly because I was selling towers like mad to get interest on the resale value at that point.
That’s a tedious way to play, though. It’s really more fun to take fire at 7, interest at 14 and 21, water at 28, and earth at 35 so you can slow the buggers down with water and lob rockets at them in the last few stages.
You have to leave money in your bank and let the interest build up. Most players are going to a strictly canon based layout and putting all the wood upgrades into interest. Another popular strat is to upgrade to fire at level 7, then go strictly fire. Obviously, if the idea is to save money, you need to find the best $$ for damage turret. For instance, the level 4 fire turret does 400 damage, and costs 50+75+100+150=375. The level 3 turret though only costs 225 and does 300. I’m wondering if a fire strat where you only go to level 3 would work.
Level 4 increases the splash radius as well, though. The primary damage doesn’t tell the whole story. I just got 67k doing the fire strategy, and that was without hardly trying. I was overbuilt on many levels, especially the last. Seems the top right is the best place for fire turrets. Roughly one fully upgraded fire tower per 1000hp the creeps have works pretty good. Add some upgraded arrow towers on the centre block for the boss levels, sell them just as he’s about to die. Easy peasy.

Fire towers at level seven and then interest only strategy.
44,996 lvl 39. Gold 22,304 Lives 10. Ranked 171 on results page now, GFDC.
newcrasher, you deserve a pit thread for posting this.
Gorsnak, I didn’t see your tips the first time I read this thread. Actually I never got past the first ten posts.
The interest earned at the end of each round is also added to the points bonus so ten percent of 100 earns ten gold and ten bonus points. Points can build big a quick towards the later levels with large amounts of interest being earned.
OMG, don’t let me start playing this again…
1540, level 34. Damn, that’s fun.
(Am also feeling vaguely insufficient among such greats…)
