Flo from Progressive

She also has a surprising mean streak.
“Sprinkles are for winners.”

She has a secret past.

The character is getting stale, but it’s been good sometimes. There are worse long running commercial characters, like that stupid lizard.

gasp

no

I hate all insurance commercials

Progressive is a major sponsor of my favorite sports team (Cleveland Indians) and they have cornered the market on radio ads for the Indians (I listen exclusively on the radio) so during the summer I head Flo ads about 18 times per game, 162 games a year. We’ll round that up to 3000 times because I’m sure I don’t just hear her there.

Last year was the worst year ever because they started the “Flo Sings” ads in 2013 and ran all the same ads in 2014. So I heard those 2-3 ads a total of 6000 times.

I have a friend who works in the Progressive ad department and I think he’s a funny guy. And the ads aren’t that bad. Not that bad like, 20 times. By time 2000 you really want to take it out on Flo personally.

I don’t think I can vote objectively. I’m sure I’d feel differently if she wasn’t constantly in my ear. But she is, so I said “Depends on the day”.

Don’t call her Mary. Don’t call her Jo. Her name is Mary Jo. And she’s invisible.

Her makeup is a definite turn-off for me. Otherwise, meh.

I don’t like that people can make that much money doing commercials. Plus on her first commercial that they played forever, she encouraged the poor guy to get excited then told him to calm down. What a douche.

I think the commercials are entertaining on tv, but when they are on the radio they are a bit mote annoying.

I found her quite annoying in the early commercials, but I like her more as the tough-minded veteran.

As far as commercial spokespeople go, she’s alright. Better than talking lizards and stacks of money with googly eyes.

How long has she been doing these? Feels like forever now.

I’d bone her.

Now I am too. Thanks for the nightmares!

She’s got Betty and Veronica eyes. Real-life people don’t have eyes like that.

She also has a retro hairdo that looks as if it’s got so much hairspray it can deflect incoming missiles.
But I find her appealing, for all that.

I especially enjoy that particular spot–the washed-out look, the hiccup in the soundtrack, and the animated logo that make it seem like something from the '70s. Very well done.

With all this talk about Flo, why is nobody complaining about her young colleague/trainee, Jamie? Now he’s annoying!

I love the cavemen. Their short-lived sitcom—which was unfairly lambasted by critics and then killed by the 2006 writers strike—was excellent.

And Flo appeared in it that one time.

I saw Stephanie in some of her pre-Flo days commercials. She was bright and appealing, a very girl-next-door type. She looked like someone it would be fun to be around.

I like her, but I’ve never bothered to check if Progressive has better rates than my current company.
