Mooooooooom: He was talking to his dad (head like an anvil that man) and his dad said that it was too much, there was no way a 3 year old car could need that much work. Sweetie had to remind his dad that he put 105k miles on it in those 3 years, while his father put 30k miles on his last vehicle in 7 years. Driving 45 minutes each way to work 5-7 days a week puts a lot of wear and tear on a car.
Before we moved here, we used the same mechanic his parents had used for 30+ years. He was actually best friends with Sweetie’s dad. Unfortunately, 50 minutes is just too far to drive to get work done. Normally I would try to avoid a major corporation but I really like the Firestone in Auburn. They treat me like I’m not an idiot. I really appreciate that.
Just remembered something funny I saw on my way home today. I was driving into Southbridge and just over the town line, there was a sign that said, “It’s a great time to make Southbridge home!”. About 50 feet down the road from the sign was the section of town that currently looks like a warzone because it was hit very hard by the tornado. Yep, GREAT time to make Southbridge home!
I have one tiny piece of chocolate. It was on Sweetie’s pillow at the hotel. I don’t know why he gave it to me but I’m kind of afraid of hotel chocolate.
Finally finished the damn catholic encyclopedia. Yuck. Seven pages of long winded rambling about Constantine.
Reformed Mexican cat smuggler, bogbutler, reformed! And I was a child at the time, just ten years old and tenderhearted about the little kitten abandoned at that nasty dive bar. What was I doing in a dive bar in Mexico, you ask? Ermmm… well… So you’re watching some football, huh? Fascinating!
Thanks** Swampy**, a good time was had by all. I bought some chocolate croissants from a mexican french bakery. You and FCM need a couple love offerings? There’s plenty, so chow down!
Out on the balcony there’s a tiny red grease ant carrying around an insect wing all by himself-- in the wrong direction. All his little ant ‘buddies’ are just zooming by, not even giving him a heads’ up, much less helping. If he doesn’t straighten up soon Ima gonna give him a ride over closer to his goal. What do you think-- will he believe he’s been abducted by aliens or that his little ant god is awesomely benevolent?
Off to give the dog a bath, since the house smells clean and fresh and I need to put a stop to that. Aaahh; eau de moist puppy.
I have been missing from the MMP for a few days, this working lark is, well…hard work! I’ve been busy learning all the stuff that the postgrad team does, which is completely different to what we did on the undergrad side, but it’s interesting and has the potential to set me up with a lot more skills on the bespoke packages the uni uses.
So, I have not had time to frequent the MMP this week and over the weekend I’ve been catching up with other stuff and spending a bit of time with 'im indoors so he doesn’t feel neglected.
I have also spent a considerable amount of time in the kitchen - so far I have made chilli (had one portion on Saturday, there are two in the freezer), made some butternut squash soup this morning (had some for lunch, the rest is in the fridge), roasted two trays of root veggies as accompaniments for dinner this week, made a batch of cupcakes and iced them ready to take to work tomorrow, and then finally made a shepherd’s pie which will be dindins for the next couple of nights. All that and errands too, I am not surprised all I’m fit for now is a soaky bath and my bed.
Bedding has been changed and is in the machine ready to be washed when I’ve got room to hang it up in the bathroom, that will probably be tomorrow once the stuff that’s already in there from Saturday’s wash has dried. Then there will be ironing and folding of stuff.
And back to irk tomorrow, it’s the first day of a two-week teaching cycle and the lady I’m working with is so convinced it will all go horribly wrong. Naturally, since I am now on the team, it will all go perfectly. She was well impressed on Friday because one of the lecturers is well-known for turning up 10mins before his sessions start and wanting all his handouts etc copied…he is teaching three sessions on Monday, and by Friday lunchtime I had all three sets of handouts in my hot little mitts ready for printing. Such is the power of the pointy stick.
I have a picture in my haid of BooFae walkin’ up to said prof, pointy stick in hand, doin’ a couple under thrusts with it and sayin’, “Yo, prof! Got those handouts ready to be copied?”
N.O.L. was a big hit. Much foodstuffs consumed. Much laughter. Fun time.
Urgh, I have been sick all week. I feel better than I have, but I am not well. (In so many ways, lol!) It’s been a nasty flu bug, and now daughter#3 is coming down with it.
fiat I know about xanax, any questions you have I would gladly try to answer. I have anxiety issues and have taken xanax for many years. I quit taking it (long story) in August, so I have firsthand knowledge wrt xanax withdrawal as well.
Okay, I am going to take a nap, again. rosie’s sig to all!
