FNG's MMP

Should I offer to share my verbs? Or will that get me in trouble?

And put them away when you’re finished. I don’t want to find verbs all over the floor like last time.

ETA: I’m Whiskypalian. We like to bug God with phrases like “We entreat thee to hear us good Lord” over and over and over and over until God says, “Alright! Enough already! I hear ya!”

So is this an MMMMPP?

Ha, I said PP!

GT, I love DC. My sister lives nearby. Last time we were there, we visited the Holocaust museum and chatted with the guard for a bit on the way in. The next day, while we were sightseeing again downtown, all hell broke loose because the crazy gunman shot up the place and killed our new friend the security guard.

Still, in two full days, we didn’t get to see everything we wanted to. We’ll be back next summer for my nephew’s HS graduation though and catch up.

Oh, don’t worry about that. If I play with my verbs, I’ll be sure to clean up the mess.

whiskeypalian? Really? And you talk to God until He gets fed up and tells you to shut up and stop babbling? Huh. I have a good guess where that nickname came from.

FCM. My parents nicknamed their car Betty. No shit. Because, you know, it sounds like a Betty. Really. The sat-nav system has a female voice, naturally, so they named it, and by extension the car, Betty.

I’m barely on speaking terms with my father. If it wasn’t for my two kids, I wouldn’t be on speaking terms with him. So please, no “Betty”.

But do let me know when you figure it out"

My inlaws call their GPS Gert, because that’s what they say the voice sounds like. I’m not much for naming inanimate objects.

OK, how’s this for an obscure nickname? Woody. Derivation - Woody Woodpecker was produced by the Walter Lantz studios, and Lantz kinda sorta sounds like Lancia, if you squint.

I need to get off this machine and shower and dress - I don’t want to show up at the hospital in robe, slippers, and a sweater. I’m retired but I haven’t gone completely off the deep end yet.

I spent most of the weekend outdoors with my horse, WB. It was too windy to ride (he HATES the wind, it makes him nervous and musses his hair) so we grazed in the old alfalfa field for a few hours with my friend and her horse. Then I had to clean him up cuz he rolled in the mud and was filthy. And he cops an attitude like “I hate having my face cleaned.” Then he got a pound of carrots and an apple and some other horsie treats. Was I surprised that his stall was quite a mess yesterday??? So I had to clean his room and make his bed. I slept really good from all the fresh air.

Now I’m at irk and it’s 9am and I’ve already eaten M&Ms and a mini-Twix.

You can borrow mine, but no licking them.

And this wonkiness would be different???
Nice job on both OPs!

But mine fit my personality ------- nuts and crackers. And chips too but --------- :stuck_out_tongue:

**kopek **- no, these love offerings were just for me! I kept them hidden in the car - one does not share love offerings! :stuck_out_tongue:

Something weird is going on in our fish tank. Last week, we lost our flame angel, and we never did see its carcass. Then one of the anemones disappeared. And this morning, I couldn’t find the 7th cromis till I looked in one of the little nooks - there was its body.

We don’t have any predators in the tank. The water chemistry has been a close to perfect as its ever been. The corals are thriving, and they’re usually very sensitive to bad stuff in a tank. What the heck is going on? Just 3 unfortunate coincidences?? 3 expensive coincidences? OK, the cromis just cost $3, but the other two were over $30 each. I’m starting not to like the our aquarium…

The anemone itself or like a clown percula?

Good morning good people, it’s a new week and hopefully it will be a better one than the last was. So far so good.

I woke at 5:30, far too early, so I rolled over and looked at a movie for a while before finally just getting up. The sky is partly blue, perhaps the sun will shine for a bit so I can go out and work on tidying up the garden. My tomatoes have pretty much given up, there might be some green maters for frying though, and I might pick enough apples to make a pie.

Mostly I am trying to just keep busy.

wrt nicknames, I love that my nicks are based on my former user name, gives me a feeling of continuity.

Rawr, I need coffee. Interesting OPs, I have a comment on the topic of parents who talk to God, be back with it in a bit.

I love it! Works on… uh… many different levels! :o

6 minutes to Quit O’Clock, at which time I’m going to go get my hair chopped off - prayers and crossed fingers welcome.

I also had an interview for a couple of positions which would start in January (they’re for the same company); my current contract is until December. Both sound interesting; one of them might involve trips to Over There. If I get that one I think I’ll try to invite whichever Dopers are in the area for dinner and call it a business expense  (the lady from IRS says she won’t accept single-person meals as business expenses for self-employed people, multi-person only).

It’s Medicaid Open Enrollment…

AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

There. All better now.

Woody, see, the way we do it is we repeat stuff enough so that it gets on God’s nerves and He does it just to shut us up. Or maybe He leaves and goes to a bar just to get away. If I were less lazy I’d provide a link to “The Great Litany” AKA The Great Monotony where such phrases as “We Entreat The To Hear Us Good Lord,” “Good Lord Deliver Us”, “Have Mercy Upon Us” and assorted other goodies are repeated ad nauseum. Fortunately we usually do this just once a year at the beginnin’ of Lent.

I’m hongry. Gonna go eat now.

The anemone itself. We have 2 clowns that we hoped would adopt one of the anemones, but so far, no dice. We may have to try a different variety of clown - our saddlebacks, who died during the power out, were fond of the sebae, and we’ve got a new one of those. We shall see.

Well, time to head to the hospital. I’ll take my knitting, just to have something to do. Laterz…

I’m here early today! Woo!

OK so it’s mostly because the data we need to get started hasn’t updated yet (It should have been done around 7pm yesterday, and now it’s 11am and still no data.)

Fortunately, I didn’t have to be involved in the on call drama yesterday. I was on call but there’s a new process being put in place so the people who coded the process had to fix it instead of me trying to deal with an unknown, new process. It was good because they were still working on it at 3:30 am today. :frowning: I don’t function after about 9pm so my help wouldn’t have be beneficial in any way.

But, despite turning it all over to them, I still had trouble sleeping and woke up from a nightmare at 12:30 and took a while to get back to sleep. So I’m a little tired today. :o <– yawning.

I’m still on my pumpkin kick. I finally got the pumpkin granola right. I made pumpkin shells yesterday - really ground beef and spinach stuffed shells with a pumpkin cheese sauce. And really awesome pumpkin oatmeal cookies.

And I made some veal burgers with fontina cheese and baked squash rings on Friday that turned out quite well. And a pear-and-parsnip soup on Saturday that was only meh. Assuming I can get out of here tonight given the delays, I think I’m going to make apple crisp for dessert. Dinner will be leftovers since the fridge is full.

That sounds like a great trip gt. I haven’t been since I was… ::thinks:: about 12. I should probably go back as an adult sometime.

Hope all of the car and family stuff works out Woody.

Good luck with the job stuff, Nava. It’d be great if you came Over Here!

Sorry about the fishies and the aquarium expense, FCM.

Is it lunch time yet?

Whew, Nava, that’s one impressive sandwich! How does it all stay together?
I don’t think I’d want to try and eat that in public…
Sorry to hear 'bout ded fishies Moom, I’ve never had the guts (or the money) to try marine fishies- they’re complicated…

My new exciting thing for today is meeces! Me and my housemate just bought 3 brand shiny new mice, one’s mine, the other two are hers (we were just going to get 2, but I sulked, so she got me one too  )

Need name suggestions- it’s grey and white, and very cute… and it’s going nowhere near my parent’s kitty  The others may be named Frankie mouse and Benji mouse, as we’re both Hitchhiker’s Guide fans. Not wholly decided yet though.

Came into the office today for a few hours but I am headed home in a bit as I am really uncomfortable sitting and my knee is killing me.

Conf call, to do list caught up, figured out the new fancy schmancy phone system that was put in when I was out so I belive I have been productive.

Mondays = grrrrrrr

I’m not firing on all cylinders, since traditionally I’m to bed with the chickens, and last night my husband called about 10 pm to inform me he’d hit a deer. Very common occurrence in our neck of the woods, although he was driving an itty bitty Hyundai Sonata. Fortunately, he was fine, and the car was really fine except for a couple of minor dents. He had hit a young, small doe. So my two sons-in-law go with the truck and bring it back, and we end up butchering it out around midnight. The thing that really made me mad was that the cop was interrogating one of the boys as to why he didn’t have his ID or driver’s license (he wasn’t driving anything). Said boy is 6’8’’ and black as night. He didn’t question the white people about their IDs. Stupid cop.
