Foghorns 'R' Us, a navigational MMP

Howdy Y’all! Thanks for all the bday wishes! I showed ‘em at work today. I only stayed 45 minutes late after goin’ in an hour and a half early. That’ll teach 'em! I’m so mean.

It’s comin’ up a thunderboomer! WOOHOO! It’s like a bday present from Og!

gotti where I come from, a lemon icebox pie has a cooked filling, a real crust and a meringue topping. You can make the cheat kind with frozen lemonade, sure, but I’m talkin’ the real thing and that’s what I’m gettin’ tonight.

As soon as ol’ y’all know who gets here, we’re headed to JDD’s and Partner’s for dindin. I have purposely not eaten much today just so’s I can pig out. MMMMMMM…

Glad all the sick folk are feelin’ better.

Y’know - it’s tough to follow the MMP from an iPod Touch, but I wanted to let you all know that Phase 3 is going very well - 20 down the first month. More from a normal keyboard later.

Thanks everybody.

I found out more at the off-site lunch meeting today. Big reorg in our department (we have a new Head Dude as of a couple months ago). One VP is being pushed out. My VP is replacing him. Boss is being promoted to fill that VP spot. Boss’s director spot will be open. Manager is being promoted to Sr. Manager, and we’ll get an open position for another analyst in our group. Two other people who started with me got promotions to Sr. Analyst (both well deserved). One other person who started with us (and who works for the newly-pushed-out VP) didn’t get a promotion. Don’t know why. Other new Sr. Analyst in our group got snagged by another group so we have his spot open as well. There are more than 20 new positions plus some of these old positions that will have to be backfilled. This is on top of a group of about 50 so major growth.

If anyone wants to come to the Twin Cities, we’ve got jobs!

On your birthday no less. Uh-huh… wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

I’ve cleaned the bathroom and kitchen. My Nokia can’t get the Dope at the moment.:frowning: I need to find somewhere will good WiFi. I still love my new toy.

Yay for rosie! Keep it it up!

Congrats taxi!

FCM, sounds like Sears need to be on The List.

Well, ol’ y’all know who does owe me a present…

I’s stuffded! Dindin was teh num y’all! We also had champagne, so I am ever so slightly tipsy and bein’ as I’m also tahrd may cause me to go beddy bye real soon.

taxi congrats on the promotion and raise! WOOHOO!!!

Happy Birthday, swampy!
And rosie’s sig to everyone else.

I’ve decided I’m taking a mental health day tomorrow (Yeah - I’m calling in sick.) I haven’t done that once this year, and Friday is my regular Friday off, so I’m having an extra-long weekend.

I’m gonna clean the house.

I’m invoking Rosie’s sig, too!

Hi everyone!

Excellent news, taxi! Congrats!

Congrats to rosie, too, on your success!

I know what you mean about bland food, Dotty. I was about to lose my mind today. Lunch was: rice, yogurt (plain with a little vanilla for flavor), carrots and an apple. We had a meeting that included a box lunch and I couldn’t have it. Pecan chicken salad sandwiches sounded SOOOOOO good.

I finally broke down mid-afternoon and had some potato chips; first fatty item I’d had in 3 days. I should be able to eat semi-normally tomorrow, I think.

Sending cool thoughts Taters’s way! It doesn’t even get that hot here in the summer, and we have some very hot spells (although we’ve missed out on them so far this year).

Hope all the blurfies have become unblurfified!

Long day at work, but got a few things done.

I’m thinking I’ll crawl into bed early. I’ve slept poorly the last 2 nights.

Hugs.

GT

I was canceled low census AGAIN for tomorrow! I’m poor, but happy!

I am just out of the shower, having been attacked by our magnolia tree out front. I noticed it’s got some kind of canker or infestation of some insect, but it’s also in need of some pruning. Then I noticed that this infestation (their little white cotton looking things, but smush in my glove and leave a trail of purple/gray slime–I think it’s pupa or larvae for some damned pest) has dripped black stuff all over the iris and brunnera underneath the tree.

I decided to prune a bit, thinking that sunlight and air can only help, right? Well, I still think so, but I got smears of this pupa stuff all over my shirt, legs and arms. Disgusting! I scrubbed myself so hard, I think I bruised myself. Uck.

I have to surf the Net looking for what this is. <shudders>
And the tile guy came and told us what we need to do next and then he’ll come back maybe Monday with his final estimate. We’re trying to save some money by taking up the old tile ourselves. So, I did that this afternoon, too–and had a glorious time spraying Raid on the carpenter ants I found under the tile. I am a sadistic bitch…

evening all. nothing more to add - weather here is hideous - nasty windy humid, threatening thunder storms.

Happy birthday to wampy, and hugs, boos, etc. to everyone else.

I am going to bed with morning sickness. But now I have drugs for it! From my doctor! So tomorrow might be better.

Woo hoo on the excellent progress, Rosie! Rigs, go after those carpenter ants, but stay away from those squishy bugs on the magnolia. Yech!

The heat and humidity we’ve been having the past week or so seem to have brought out the hot flashes in me. Seriously! I don’t know, the weather has just made me feel intolerable.

Ah well, at least it’s three down, two to go to the weekend.

wampy? Those are some darn good drugs. I hope it stops the morning sickness, though.
I can bring up a half a dozen message boards on my Nokia, but not the Dope. :frowning:

I have officially completed my first ever knitting project. Yay for me!

It’s a wooly hat, which is perhaps not the most appropriate piece of clothing for late July, and you can tell I’m a beginner because the stitches are ridiculously uneven… but I don’t care. I made it and it’s BEEEEEEEEEEAUTIFUL.

No photos, tho, because as beautiful as the hat may be, I most certainly am not. At least, not tonight I ain’t.

Glad you had a great burfday, swampus. I’ve never had icebox pie, but it sounds delicious and I’m horrendously jealous.

rigs, it sounds like you were The Scourge of Backyard Insect Life today. Wanna come over here and deal with the aphids that are munching on my 'maters? For every one I squish into oblivion, it seems like two pop up in its place. Not nearly as icky as whatever larvae-thingumabob you had to deal with, tho.

And on that note… Morgan has just announced that she wishes to play fetch by dumping a ball at my feet and meowling pathetically, so I’m gonna entertain the kitty for a while.

My magnolia has something called scale. It’s DISGUSTING.

Here ya go:

And so tomorrow, on me day off, I go in search of domestic napalm. Usually I’m all organic and prevention, but this ranks as an occurrence that Must Be Taken Care Of.

Stat–or in late August, which looks like my best bet for ridding my life of this nastiness. I am going to get the stuff that I can place in the soil (a slow, lingering death as the suckers draw in the poison through the bark…bwahahahahaha!) as well as a spray to use later in the summer.

And I’m mad at my mother. Long story. Reader’s Digest version: if you are retired, please don’t make plans for folks who have 1, 2, no, 3 jobs and then get pissy when said plans don’t match schedules. In fact, in the interests of family peace, perhaps the retired one should–radical notion, this–CALL the one with multiple jobs to check to see if said plans will work? Such a novel notion…

Well hell. All my plans for the day were shot thanks to life’s fun curveballs. This time I was the umpire, not the catcher, so it was better but there’s a fun shakeup in the future.

What is the largest horn I can mount under the hood of my mother’s Impala?

They can be a serious pain to find mounting spots for, and you’ll need to wire them in with a relay, but the 4-tone horn set from a 1970’s era Cadillac makes such a nice
WHONNNKKK!

I’m guessing the Impala just goes
beep. excuse me, I said beep. are you listening to me?

Or did you want to try and wedge one of these under the hood? Or one of these beauties?

Geez,** Gotti**, you don’t waste any time going for the kill, do ya? I was going to suggest one of these beauts, but why bother?
