Woohoo! First week of college football and boy was it a doozy. A great deal of upsets this week with Oklahoma (7), Auburn (16), Texas A&M (17) and Pittsburg (23) all losing. The Charlie Weis era got off to a good start with a shelacking of Pitt and USC took its first step towards repeating. BSU looked terrible against Georgia although I probably should say their quarterback looked terrible. After about 10 seconds of listening to Trev Alberts my hatred for him began to boil again.

But lets get to the important stuff here, the Buckeyes came out and looked pretty darn good today. Pittman ran for 100 yards on 14 carries and Zwick moved the ball around well. I saw more talent and ability in Pittman as a freshman than I saw in Clarett. Clarett was clearly more advanced when he came to Columbus but Pittman has some kind of speed and agility. He is going to be super this year and hopefully for two more years. Holmes and Ginn are absolute studs at the reciever spots and there look to be some pretty solid 3-4 recievers to augment them. The offensive line looks to be solid and should be good enough to let the talent do their stuff.

You don’t hear too much talk about the defense at OSU becuase there really isn’t much to talk about. The defense since Tressel has come has been dominant and this year is no different.

Now the day started great and only got better after Michigan played. If you looked at the scores (OSU-34 Miami (OH)-14, Mich 33 NIU 13) you would think that Mich and OSU did about the same. Not quite, Michigan’s defense looked absolutely horrendous on the field. NIU moved the ball at will, especially on the ground, and if it weren’t for all the fumbles and INTs they might have won. NIU racked up over 400 total yards and Wolfe was unstoppable rushing for 148 yards on 17 carries. The Michigan offense looked dominant out there but you can’t win in the Big Ten without defense. I look foward to OSU winning another Big Ten title!

O-H-I-O Go Bucks Go!

How about the Mercyhurst Lakers Volleyball Team suffering its first defeat of the season to Indiana University of Pennsylvania 21-30, 28-30, 17-30. What a shock.

Sorry, is this by any chance the volleyball thread?

Bama won. Fuckin’ A.

Auburn lost, but if Cox can get his ass settled down, he is going to be one hell of a QB. He has an amazing arm, but he needs to grow into the leadership of the team, and he needs to finesse the ball more to avoid interceptions.

Eh, not too much enthusiasm about college football?

Well I am still excited just watched a great game between Louisville and UK that went down to the wire. UK fumbled it on the half yard line down 7 with a few minutes left. Lousville put a drive together and ran out the clock. Two very good young quarterbacks in this one and the Louisville RB is something special.

Heh, just this morning I was thinking, “football football football! Next week we finally get to watch some football!” :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, though, even blowout college games beat most of the other programming ESPN and the networks have to offer, and there ended up being a couple pretty decent games to watch this weekend. So while I don’t necessarily have enthusiasm about college football, I heartily approve of its return, since it (hopefully) means that I don’t have to see as many random niche-sports when I’m flipping at weird times.

Normally I would agree with you but this year the schedule is a bit wonky. Miami Florida State is on tommorow, Louisville UK was today, VT NCST is today and Pitt ND was a pretty good game. Not bad for an opening weekend.

England! England!

Roll Tide. We didn’t get to watch it, but as Bama fans who now live in SC, my brother and I had fun watching Clemson upset F’ Ran and his team.

By bad. We didn’t get to watch the 'Bama game, but we did watch the Clemson game.

Woohoo! IUP rocks!

My alma mater.
