A cat who knows electronics is worth his weight in gold!
Yes, indeedy, it is. Little beasties, they sure pick their places and moments to keep us in our places.
Agreed. I usually settle for a quick swipe to my foot with a paper towel because otherwise I’d be spending all day with one foot or the other in the tub or taking off my dang socks. Somehow this whole discussion has that Roy Orbison sound playin’ in my head …you left me crying over you…
.
I talked to a dog trainer.
She recommends getting Echo spayed, which is planned anyway. She says the reduction in hormones may help. Impossible to tell if the 7 weeks of no park caused the problem, or if it is that the protective nature of her breed is coming out now that she is maturing.
She says she’d still take her in the mornings when it’s just our little group, and at the first sign of her getting upset, take her home. Since I have no control over the environment at the dog park, there is no way to train her out of the behavior. We won’t go in the afternoons anymore since it’s too variable as to who will be there.
It seems that a nap was on the agenda for today. I didn’t plan on it, but I fell asleep sitting in my chair and napped for about 2 hours. I guess I needed it.
I decided to brave the afternoon and take a shorter walk - just under a mile anna half. Despite being in the mid-80s and me wearing jeans, I didn’t get very sweaty at all! Glad I got the walk in - I missed Thursday because we went to Mom’s, and yesterday was too rainy (tho I did run up and down the stairs dealing with 3 loads of laundry, so that was something.)
Not sure what supper will be. Probably another salad or a sammich or something easy. I don’t feel like cooking and I don’t need takeout - I always eat too much when we do that. So we’ll wing it.
If you recall … I can’t cook. I need help, quickish.
I bought some bone-in chicken thighs the other day on a whimsy of culinary confidence. I bought them because I haven’t found any wings at the store in weeks. I can grill wings like a mo-fo, so I figured I could grill thighs just as easily. But my confidence has waned. I panicked and threw them in a bowl and drowned them in teriyaki and they’ve been sitting in the fridge marinating all day. Now what do I do?
I suppose I could still grill them, but they’d be awfully goopy on the grill. I was thinking the easiest thing to do would be to throw them in the oven and call it baked teriyaki chicken, but I’m clueless. Is that advised with a bunch of thighs drenched in sauce like that? If so, at what temperature and for how long? Just like on a baking sheet? Or a glass baking thingie?
Did I mention I’m a horrible cook?
I’d put them in a glass dish covered with foil at 350 for 50-60 minutes. And I’d put some of the teriyaki marinade in the pan with them. If they have skin, take the foil off for the last 20 minutes or so.
Cut them up and do a stir-fry with some veggies. Serve over rice.
Howdy Y’all! I accomplished mowage and then had fun out at the cee-mint pond followed by burgers and DQ ice cream cake. All in all, a good day for me! Glad to be showered and inside in the a/c cause it’s hawt out! Still. Chillage now ensues.
If they weren’t bone-in, I would. That’s my usual move. I think I’ll go with the baked teriyaki idea, see what happens. I mean, I just ran out to the supermarket to get a few things (one being an oblong glass baking dish, because I thought I had one and it turned out I didn’t) and I’m prepared to fail.
Evening all. Back yard is mowed since it’s in the shade in the evening and the temperature is ‘only’ 83F. Will get the front and side yards Sunday morning. Still deciding between a Big Bowl O’Sallit or Lean Cuisine Fettuchini for dinner, the other will be on the menu tomorrow.
Jack Bats, good luck on the cooking…you sound better at cooking than I am, like Nettie’s husband above, if the microwave stops, I’m screwed.
FCM, best get your walking in…looks like about Tuesday it might be a little stormy up your way (for that matter, all y’all on the USA East Coast better not be making any outdoor plans the early part of the week–be careful out there). And that looks a lot like my sectional, except I got the whole thing–https://www.furniturerow.com/fr/Sofa-Mart/Carver-6-Pc.-Sectional/prod2100118/12498/
Sari, sounds like good advice to me regards to Echo. Hope it helps.
Cats, I’ve used the Wally’s pick-up a couple of times, works pretty well. Kroger has started something similar, I need to avoid the employees with the big shelving carts for 8-10 separate orders when I’m shopping there.
You people are convincing me that not having a cat was one of the brighter things I’ve done in my 67 years.
Boo, nice story on the Mortgage. Glad you could remain that friendly.
Butters, my county had around 500 cases June 1st, we’re up to nearly 5,000 now, but it seems to be slowing down. If school (and HS football) gets started, however…
OW, sounds like this isn’t your first time introducing cats to each other. Best of luck.
Cookie, $60 beats $300 everytime. Glad it could be repaired.
OK, I have decided…to go to the kitchen and figure out there what I’ll have for dinner. All y’all take care now.
Excellent idea. I heartily recommend it.
In our case it was our daughter giving her younger sister a haircut (around five and two at the time, I think). I’m not sure which one we were more annoyed with – the one who did it, or the one who let her do it!
Absolutely!
Went to BJ’s to feed my car this afternoon, stopping along the way at WallyWorld to pick up a few things I forgot the other day. Tomorrow we take my wife’s car out to feed it, and to stop at a couple other stores to check out the meat they have on sale.
Wife has suggested hash and scrambled eggs for supper. Sounds wonderful.
This is my first time doing kitty intros. Phoenix is my very first cat, just acquired in March. I’ve done internet research, talked to experienced cat-owning friends and the foster mom, but I’m otherwise going on logic and instinct. This could still all go up in flames!
She is Canadian, give her a break.
Gosh darn it!
Would you elaborate on that? Can he bias transistors and do Boolean algebra on logic circuits?
Um, did I mention that I don’t know anything about electronics? That’s why I need a kittycat that does!
VOW, I kinda like the names of Spud and Dink.
Jack, with a marinade that sweet and having been marinated that long, I would go with putting them in the crockpot for pulled teriyaki chicken. You will run the risk of burning if you bake them.
SIL and I had a good visit and the lemon bars were YUM! with a pot a Lady Grey tea.
Nelson and I went to the dog park early this evening, but didn’t stay long. Watson is in SC with his family for a funeral and Jersey is in PA to meet hr human’s newest granddaughter. That, and it began raining about 20 minutes in.
Swung through Cook Out for a western burger and onion rings for supper. I had a gnawin’ and cravin’ for red meat and that hit the spot. I would have gone to Fat Mo’s, but the line was too long. That’s OK, Cook Out has better sides.
Now to chill.
Cats can be a complete pain in the tail. They can also be very lovable and very cute. They’re worth the aggravation, IMO.
DH and I did get some errands accomplished. The car is fed, we have more pork ramen (there’s only one store in town that reliably has that flavor. Even others in that chain in other parts of town do not), the car is fed, the recycling has been cashed in, and we finally achieved Baskin-Robbins. Also got Togo’s sandwiches, since they were in the same store. DH and I both think Subway is better.
That’s what I have kids for.
My cats are, however, in charge of rooting out any useable charging cords and chewing through them as soon as they are out of the package and I have thrown the receipt away.
I drove the ‘B’ into Bellingham today to drop off some film for processing, and to run by Cash & Carry for some bacon.
We drove it to Blaine with the intention of getting some beer and maybe some oysters, but the place looked crowded s we went for Mexican food and margaritas instead. Stopped at the local liquor store for tequila and margarita mix on the way home.
Mrs. L.A made truffles out of Trader Joe’s Pound Plus dark chocolate last night. This morning I had one that had been rolled in cocoa. I’ve just had one rolled in chopped pecans. And now to the margarita…
She made margarita flavor truffles too? Damn, that’s some good choice you made!
