For people who like ridiculous heat in the MMP

Ehh one could blame marie calendars …

herald, the colomorbus was good tonight. I threw in some dried dill like I do sometimes and it was nice and refreshing.

elfkin, a friend of mine has a cat named Poe. He’s a very large, mostly black kitteh and a real sweetheart.

Poor Buddy! butters, up until I bought the new vacuum cleaner, Nelson was afraid of it. Since I’ve had the new one, he just challenges it. :stuck_out_tongue:

OW , when I last had new kittehs (yikes! ~35 years ago), I got Figaro first and about a year later, a friend had a little orphaned barn kitten who needed a home. When I brough Domino home, I stayed home with both of them for a long weekend. The first day back to work, I shut Domino in the bedroom and let Fig wander around. I was worried that I would have a dead kitten otherwise, since Fig just hissed at him all of the time. When I came home, the bedroom door was open (old house) and the two of them were curled up together on the bed. I think Phoenix and Twister will work things out.

Supper was good and I’m fixing to do KP. Nelson was wondering around crying a while ago and I realized that Rocky Raccoon (who smells much better since his bath) wasn’t in the room. I opened up the bedroom and, sure enough, he had taken him onto the bed with him when he napped while I was in the shower. He’s happy now.

I don’t see the connection…

I do like a sweet/savory combination. If I have pancakes and sausage, I’m fine if some syrup gets on the sausage. My late husband used to like to take a piece of toast, spread a bit of jam on it, and put a bite-sized piece of bacon on top of that.

Hey, I cook the ezzact same way as you!

Having a giant mug of Earl Grey and planning to both change the sheets and wash my hair this evening. Don’t faint from the vicarious excitement!

Gonna try again tomorrow or the next to see my buddy with the eggs, cuz I got too depressed last week to do a damn thing, let alone make myself publicly presentable and drive the half hour or what all the way to Gr. Rapids.

Speaking of, and I’m afraid to ask because I’m scared of the answer, but has anyone heard from @SurrenderDorothy or know if she’s okay?
I’m very, very worried about her.

I feel like an ass giving in to depression when I know she’s got so much more to deal with. That never makes me feel better, of course, but I had to say it.

That TV dinner Yankee slut! I’ll bet she is the one who put lipstick on Little Debbie!

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated virtually, went and had N.O.L./Brunch at the good seafood place, and accomplished nappage. No quality cee-mint pond time however. Really had a lot of that yestiddy, and for me, combined with mowage Firday and yestiddy, I had had quite enough sun. Inside in the a/c was the good choice. Oh, and I hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. All in all, quite a pleasant Sunday.

I keep thinkin’ I should get an Instant Pot thingies. Been kinda reluctant cause I am not fond of pressure cookers. When I was a wee cub, my grandmother had some chickins in a pressure cooker and sump’n went wrong and the lid blew off and there was chikin everywhere. Really scared me, although I thought the chikin stuck to the ceilin’ was cool. :grinning: :sunglasses:

I did a load of laundry, cleaned the fridge, and my closet, took out the trash, and shredded some old paperwork. Doing poke chops, sweet N.O.T.s, and broccoli with 'shrooms. Also, 1/2 through today’s hockey marathon. :ice_hockey:  :ice_hockey:

Miss_Owl, glad the kittahs have declared a cease fire. Never did 2 cats, but Gordie and his late bff had a rocky introduction, since they weren’t pro other dog. There were cages, muzzles, and choke collars involved. It was Fifty Shades of Stray

Shades, sugar in cornbread? [Southern Lady]Bless your heart[/Southern Lady].

well see thats why we have “westren” cornbread and not “southren” cornbread here in ca

Evening all. Reading and Nappage took up a fair portion of the afternoon, I am now consuming a Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner. 80F now but it ought to be cooling some now as the sun is heading down. All Sudokus and Jumbles have been solved, so my mind works at least as well as Our President’s…

shoe, I haven’t heard anything, it’s not unusual for folks to wander off for awhile, so hopefully she’ll be back in a bit.

FCM, sounds like nice colors, wait until you go to the store and try to pick the exact one you want (you can try Paint Colors by Family - Sherwin-Williams for examples, I imagine most places have something like it).

OW and Red, good news (past and present) on the kitty front. And that is a marvelous name, both rollercoaster- and cat-wise.

OK, sallit has been committed to the stomach-acid deep, so internettin’ and reading shall resume.

All y’all take care and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

Pretty much a slug day over here except for laundry and a Walmart order. Awaiting a Jungle delivery that claimed ETA Tuesday when I ordered (which was fine with me), their app now says it’s only a few stops away.

Went with tater-tot casserole tonight, since I was in a comfort-food mode. Did some tweaks from the myfridgefood.com recipe, such as using a mix of ground beef and bulk pork sausage, added garlic and dehydrated onion to the meat mixture while cooking, added frozen peas for some extra nutritional value. Came out fine, lots left for later in the week. A recipe that starts with 2lb tater tots is going to have leftovers when the household is two adults.

We always had multiple pets when I was a kid. Usually didn’t fuss about gradual introduction, just plopped the newcomer into the mix. Everyone worked it out, with one exception (a dog that was fine with humans and other dogs, could not abide cats) who got rehomed to friends of my parents who didn’t have cats. Much more compatible arrangement.

The only time I’ve really worried was when we were adopted by a stray bird, but the cat we had at that time just looked at the new arrival, then did the furry teenager “whatever” face. They co-existed just fine. In fact the bird when flying free could land ON the cat and he really didn’t care.

Except for the time she pooped on him. First he gave her the “are you SERIOUS?” look, then he glared at ME, clearly conveying “Mom, FIX this!” Not sure he really appreciated me laughing during cleanup, but I couldn’t really help it.

I’d choose your cornbread every time.

O_W I am thoroughly enjoying your Kitty Chronicles, and especially got a smile out of the incident with one walking away from the treats.

@Seanette that was hilarious! I have the clearest mental image of the scene. Heheh.

Swampy the modern pressure cookers are all waaayyy safer than Grandma’s time, and that goes triple for the Insta-Pot. It does also cook stuff lickedy-split, although you have to accout for the time it needs to build up the heat & pressure. So it’s not INSTANT-instant. But it is one handy gadget, if ya happen to enjoy puttering around a kitchen now and then. So I guess you’d hate it!

 I keed, I keeeeed.

Bed is clean, I am clean, currently enjoying a single soft-boiled egg. It’s exactly what I wanted, and I am trying to avoid giving in to that, “Ugh, whatever, sooooo not worth it, screw that” because then I don’t eat at all.

Besides, I suppose there’s some merit to arguing that I’m worth it!

Same reason I didn’t bother washing my hair last week - I mean, I’m just gonna get all sweaty the next day. (*Note: I did still shower! But, only twisted my hair into a bun, hid it under a kerchief, and hoped it didn’t mat into full-on dreadlocks.)

Yeah, that’s not the sound of depression …

Anyway, I feel better physically. Only somewhat better emotionally, but I’m not the unmoored wreck of last week.

And I ate an egg. Because that is what I wanted to enjoy, and I am worth the single pan to wash, fer cryin’ out loud. :fried_egg: I am looking forward to super clean sheets, and even rubbed on some lavender CBD lotion, so sleep oughta be imminent and deep.

See y’all in the next M.M.P. and have a good night. Sweet dreams, Mumpers.

I have ADHD and all the issues with short term memory that go along with it. There are 3 echo dots in the house and I often tell them to remind me things at specific times. To shut the window at ten that I had open in the room next to the counter I painted this weekend for example.

Alexa is pretty good at understanding you…most of the time.

Last year there was a raging thunderstorm one Friday night and I unplugged my gaming desktop to be safe. I told Alexa to remind me when I figured I would wake up in the morning and went to bed. It gets to be eight or nine the next morning and Alexa announces “don’t forget, you unplugged the future last night.”

Thank you for massively creeping me out ten minutes after I woke up, Alexa!

Not sure that’s such a bad idea this year.

Same here. “Turn off the water in 2 hours. Check the dryer. Watch <TV show> at 6 pm.”

I love that I can say out loud, “Alexa, put coffee, kleenex, and butter on my shopping list,” and when I get to the grocery store, I open the shopping list in Alexa on my phone, and it’s all there.

true that … well one good thing happened nationally … the astronauts on the SpaceX mission landed successfully so there talking more test and going back to the moon and then mars which is the ultimate endgame …

I pour syrup on the sausage as well as on the pancakes.

This is exactly what he did. He looked down at it, muttered, “Oh, well,” and put it in the microwave, took it out and plopped ice cream on it and ate it. I couldn’t stop thinking about things squirming around in his mouth for several hours after. It was extremely disturbing.

The ants did not go gently into their goodnight post-pie. We’re still doing battle, though there seem to be fewer of them, and the ones that are remaining appear confused. But, there’s a silver lining: my husband had previously been of the opinion that dishes only need be washed when you have to use them. Since the chore was his (I do all the cooking), what that translated to was piles of food-encrusted dishes in the sink and on counters until I came along to wash them. Apparently ant pie has helped him discover the joys of a clean kitchen. So I can live with that. Hopefully he won’t actually eat an ant-infested piece of pie again. I’m sure they’re great protein, but that might be a dealbreaker.

I’ve had chocolate-covered ants. Ant pie can’t be too bad. What sort of pie did it start out as?
