Freezing Snickers, Twinkies Etc...

I’ve been known to eat a whole bag in ONE MINUTE

Well friends, I’m still waiting for an answer on whether or not you can freeze Hostess Twinkies. In about 6 weeks it’ll be 2013, nearly 10 years after this discussion first began. I’ll just keep on waiting for the answer but I can’t wait too much longer though; For I have some very sad news to pass on to you. The Hostess Company closed its’ doors today and went out of business after 83 glorious years. Sad too is the fact that over 18,000 people will lose their jobs. A sad ending for an American icon that brought smiles to generations of Americans. Goodbye Twinkie the Kid. :frowning:

Holy cow! Well, someone will certainly buy them up and their secrets; the name might change, but since they’re selling, I can only assume there will be a buyer.
And on topic for the thread: From Chicago as well, and we grew up with frozen Hostess stuff because the only way we could afford them was by buying them by the case at the Hostess outlet stores. And they were great!
But my favorite candy to freeze was always the Charleston Chews: pull them out of the freezer, rap them on the table, and eat the shattered little bits!

I used to do it with Milkshake, a Milky Way knockoff. You could buy then prefrozen.

Though Milky Ways always were the superior candy bar (Milkshake is no longer made), the texture of a Milkshake made it less hard when it froze, making it easier to eat.

Hardly anyone remembers Milkshake bars. They were much better than Milky Way. If they still made them I’d be freezing them and then deep frying them.

I remember them! Don’t recall freezing any, but frozen Milky Way, Zero and Three Musketeers bars were part of my childhood (southern MI and northeastern IL).

Speaking of Zeros - Polar bars were similar, and also usually available during the winter. Are those still available anywhere?

My mom used to freeze Twinkies all the time. They thaw pretty quickly, but are pretty good frozen.

I freeze Yorks.

I freeze Heath bars and brownies. Not to keep them fresh, but the freezing makes the time eating the treat longer.

Oh yea me too. The peppermint is so much mintier after being frozen. I use the dollar sized ones and use them as a desert treet after a heavy meal. Quite refreshing.

Chocolate fudge brownies are great frozen.

done it with mars bars in summer… not really into chewy caramel.

Chicago suburbs here, always been a fan of frozen Snickers and Milky Way. I’ve never thought of freezing Twinkies, but if it’s anywhere close to the frozen candy bars, I can see the attraction.

The purpose is not to preserve them, it’s to chomp them while they’re solid and cold.

Word.

Ring Dings and Funny Bones, before the manufacturer threw a tantrum, and 3 Musketeers. I also got in the habit of putting chocolate in the refrigerator in July but I probably don’t need to right now.
