Fuck TV and movies and cheap dimestore novels

Aw, you guys should come up here if you can get the scratch (god knows I don’t have the money to get to Burlington lately, and that’s just an hour away). It’s really beautiful. Just remember that first week of October is peak foliage state wide. I’m not sure if that means that you should avoid it or come then, so I guess it depends.

And make sure (though this is more for cops) that he isn’t chasing someone in a subway system and that someone else isn’t due to mysteriously re-appear at some point…

  1. Avoid being a Baywatch flunkie in big feathered hair and a half shirt and large boobies is also good for an early exit.

  2. It is advisable to build up your immunity to iocaine powder.

MrVisible: Advise the boyfriend that if he hears a noise late at night, and upon investigation it turns out to be “just the cat,” he’s got about five seconds to tear ass out of there.

Other than that suggestion, he should be fine.

Geez, this is sure a day for princess bride quotes isn’t it? Anyhoo Mr. V., Just take it easy and relax. MY wife is the one who’s in trouble. Our baby is due next month and gasp things are going really well for me at work. GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t let him wear any red shirts.

Every day is a day for Princess Bride quotes here at the dope!

Grats on the baby dude.

  1. Never wear high heels. You will inevitably fall, which will inevitably cause you to be knifed to death. If you feel you will be entering a potentially perilous situation, sensible loafers are always advisable.

Okay. Ten o’clock, Wednesday night, and he’s got three nights left to work, counting this one. I didn’t sleep much last night, so I’m hoping exhaustion claims me tonight.

Thanks for all these suggestions in this thread; I was able to talk him out of the outfit he suggested for going on patrol last night. I think a slinky red dress with high heels would have gone well with his duty belt anyhow.

Unfortunately, they’ve hired a replacement recently, and my boyfriend has to train him tonight; so yeah, he’s now got a partner.

Gah.

You will make it through this and he will be fine.

Now I’m worried. Did he come home this (thursday) morning?

Yeah, he did. Sorry to worry you, Grandmother.

He came in so quietly, I didn’t even wake up. I rolled over at dawn, and was happily surprised to find him, fast asleep, next to me. Funny how much that means right now.

His last two shifts are tonight and Monday.

I’m sayin’! It’s like no one’s ever seen Evil Dead II, which, while not an actual Outward Bound documentary, ought to be required viewing for anyone planning on entering an area more densely wooded than Central Park.

At least tonight is your last night of worry, MrVisible. Let us know if he came home ok, please.

I’ve been charmed by your descriptions of your relationship, especially the one about his family reunion and his grandmother telling you to take care of him.

Hey, thanks, Grandmother. It’s really nice to know you care like that.

He came home, early this morning, in perfect health. I’d spent the night waking up every hour, looking for him next to me on the bed; he’d spent the night recalling Freddy Krueger movies and jumping at noises. He was crying when he got home; the tension of the past two weeks, plus the fact that he said goodbye to a friend of his from the job, who told him he’d decided to move back to Mississippi in the next month or so, it all finally got to him.

But he’s fine, and has some good, strange new job prospects. We spent the evening at my mom’s place, where my nephew is vacationing, laughing about mom’s weird family out in Nebraska. I also offered my nephew advice on teenage rebellion, including the URL to the Weekly World News. Can’t do enough to corrupt today’s youth, you know.

And now, I’m logging off to go fall asleep next to him.

Thanks.

For God’s sakes make sure he turns the light on before entering hallways, basements and unknown rooms!!!..I have screamed myself hoarse telling people on the t.v to turn the light on!!! Have they never heard of the boogey man?..especially when THAT music starts!!

Yay! I’m glad to know your Handsome Man™ is home safe.
Please tell him he has my best hopes for finishing school and a bright new life.
