You are not alone. My dad is a terrible bigot, and in general is not a nice person. He doesn’t like women, especially single or divorced women who refuse to straighten up and get married and do what their husbands tell them. He spent my whole life telling me that abused women “enjoy that kind of thing” and that rape victims make “that stuff up” to explain away pregnancy or STDs. He’s a peach.
So he doesn’t like me, because I’m a single divorced mother (or as he would say, “saddled with kids”.)
My advice: Cut him loose. He is doing you no good and is causing you nothing but grief. Why waste your energy? You have a good life with someone who loves you, and no one needs to be continually exposed to that kind of behavior. Good luck and take good care.
