Funny Real Life Names

The midwife attending Mrs M’s second confinement proudly wore a namebadge announcing her identity as “Cruella”. 100% on the level and it made everybody blink when they saw it, she said.

Huh, sounds like she ended up with a good job after that whole incident with the Red Lectroids.

I went to school with a girl named Polly Graff. She briefly dated a boy who’s last name was Lye.

My clinic used to have a receptionist named Marina Fish.

There’s a boxer in England named Chris P. Bacon. In Ohio, you might meet up with Chief Deputy Lawless.

I’ve always meant to start a thread about “famous people I never knew.” These are people who just coincidentally have the same name as a famous person. I went to high school with Michael Jackson. I went to college with Robert Kenedy. And now I’ve met Barbara Walters and Caroll O’Connor through work.

I’m sure all of them are very tired of explaining that, yes that is my name, and no I’m not the famous one.
As for funny names in general, I went to school with a girl named Honey Potton and also knew a girl named Ocean.

In my Baltimore days I was checked out at the Giant food store by a Latrina.
A paramedic friend of mine swore he transported a young child from a poor south Baltimore neighborhood. Doing the paperwork he asked the parents for the child’s name

Mom “Sh’ Thead” (Pronounced Shh Thee Ad)

Medic “How do I spell that?”

Mom “S - H - I - T - H - E - A - D”
Once I went to interview another family and was proudly introduced to the new young man of the family - “Diamante’… just like the car!”

God I love Baltimore!

We have a local news reporter named John Thomas.

I don’t know if they’re still in practice but we used to have a local Veterinarian named Dr. Bone, his partner was Dr. Howell. Not funny all on their own but funny in the context of their profession.

My college has/had a professor with a PhD whose last name was Seuss. Yes, she was Dr. Seuss but she insisted it was pronouced “Seece”.

Oh, my stars! LOL Seriously, though, this woman does exist, and kicks quite a lot of ass IMHO.

Did she live in La Jolla, CA or at least teach at a college in or around San Diego? I just read in a Mike Mailway column last week that Dr. Seuss, the author/illustrator, lived in La Jolla but there was also a Dr. Suess also living there, who was a professor and famous in her* own right for something or other. They often recieved each other’s mail by mistake. I’ve tried to find the column online but all I get so far is about the recent death of the original Mike Mailway. I’ll have to go through TikkiDad’s stash of old Seattle P-I’s to find it.
*It might possibly be a him, actually, in which case, disregard the above.

I see the name of everyone who works for my company, and one guy’s name is “Maximillian Bacon.”

A couple of years later, I saw his last name- “Melvin.”

A food animal veterinarian named Dr. Ewey

Orthodontists Drs. Hammer and Hook of Kailua, Hawaii.

The Cloud family, comprised of Thunder, Rain, and Storm.

A poultry veterinarian named Dr. Byrd.

I know too many doctors.

I work Tech Support and we frequently get calls from a Rusty Beaver.

I once met a guy named Vertigo Sunshine Sixtynine. He was playing with a travelling goth band.

Yes, it was on his license. No, I don’t think I can prove it.

Best names of people I knew in person:

[ul][li]Joe Coffee[/li][li]Daniel Daniels[/li][li]Hardick moved next door to me from India when we were around 12. When he found out his name sounded like Hard Dick he adopted the “common American name” Harry. Penis ensued. [/ul][/li]
Best name of someone I did a loan for:

[ul][li]Richard Manrod[/ul][/li]
Best name I’ve ever seen, period:

[ul][*]Anil Warrier[/ul]

The photographer that took our senior pictures in high school was Harry Dong.

One of the companies I worked for had a customer named Rollin Ball. His checks had a bouncing red ball on them, I swear! That poor guy…

I knew a Kandy Khan, too.

I went to high school with a Susan Davis, who was best friends with Shirley Temple.

Sounds a little unlikely, as the more famous Dr. Seuss was actually named Theodore Geisel. The school in La Jolla is UCSD, whose main library (Geisel) is named after the author. FWIW, La Jolla is part of the city of San Diego; the fact that it has its own downtown and its residents insist that they live in “La Jolla, CA” reflects nothing more than an irritatingly snobby fantasy. (Which, I concede, fits the area nicely.)

You think Terry Bollea never receives mail addressed to Hulk Hogan?

Way back in ancient times, when I was in college, the Santa Cruz, CA phone book had a listing for Cashmere Tango Obedience. Ok, not funny in the sense of most of these, but it’s still my favorite name.

I’ve met three people named Michael Jackson, one named Carl Anderson and one Lisa Simpson

My college class had a woman named Candy Hooker.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I submit for your approval a well-known local philanthropist.

Do I win?

I don’t wish to make fun of the man himself; he’s a pillar of the community. But come on, you might think about going by Harold!
