Galavant returns tonight (1/3) and I'm so excited!

I liked the line in the song about maybe having to come back on a cheap-ass cable network - Cracked me up!!!

And I love Tad Cooper!

I know this show will be on the bubble for renewal if it’s lucky. But I really hope it comes back. It’s so fun!

Same.
I’m glad it ended on only sort of a cliffhanger - I’d like them to get a season 3, but another ending like season 1 would’a annoyed me.

Season 2 was better than season 1. I don’t get why the ratings dropped. Oh well, we got a satisfyingly conclusion if they don’t get renewed.

I think my favorite song was Richard’s dragon pal.

Amazing! An entire season, all within the single month of January!

Not that I’m complaining. I’d much rather have a short season of great episodes, than a long season of mediocre episodes.

I loved it all, but one of my favorite moments has to be when Richard was young and all the other kids were treating him nicely, and one of them asks something like (heavily paraphrased) “shall I write a song for your glory?”. And Gareth replies “Shut up, Menken”

I loved the “Shut up, Menken” bit, too. I am wondering who “Tad Cooper” might be named after. Someone working on the production? Someone who won a fan contest?

Here’s a nice interview with Tim Omundson on AVClub that asks that question.

Thanks for linking to that interview!

Figure it’s better to bump this thread than to start a new one. Both seasons of Galavant just popped up on Netflix. If you missed it the first time around I’d definitely recommend giving it a watch.

I was so excited to see it on Netflix - I’ll definitely be watching it again. YAY!

Great show. Most of the musical numbers are available on YouTube. I’ve already created a playlist to enjoy at my leisure…

And I’ve seen some rumor that Netflix is going to pick it up and produce Season 3.

oh please let it be so.

Where have you read that? I had not heard that at all.

I just binge-watched it, and loved it.

Now that I have time to do more than bump the thread …

Story-wise, despite Galavant being the titular character, I find him most important in this way:

Galavant’s purpose is to facilitate other people’s stories.

King Richard’s story, Isabella’s story, the Chef’s story, Gareth & Madalena’s story …

Galavant’s own story is the cliche “hero’s story” that we’ve heard/seen a million times.

Agreed - the show is all about upending genre expectations. Galavant is the only character who more or less conforms to those cliches (and Gareth, but only for a while).

I absolutely loved Richard’s story arc.

I come bearing bad news. Netflix decided to pass on picking up Galavant for either a third season or a movie because they thought it was too obscure. Boo!

I get this from a friend who’s a friend of Galavant’s showrunners.
