This evenin’ I have had three beverages, played Words With Friends on fb and watched teevee. I best tone down the festivities before the neighbors complain about the wild party.
butters, I live three miles from CB corporateHQ but rarely eat there if I’m not on a road trip. If you ever get up this way, I could even show you where the original one was.
The concert was good. Their repertoire ranged from forties stuff, to swing to jazz and some originals. I had a hippie dog from the food truck ( beef dog topped with bacon, peanut butter and sriracha) and a bite of BFF’s raspberry s’more.
I’s tahred and 6:30 comes early.
Now that you say that I’m pissed at myself that I didn’t remember it a few years back when the newer Village People played in Point State Park. It would have been fun avoiding the “monkey thing” doing YMCA with this thing on. :smack:
Long story short; I have a friend who is a Cherokee singer; something/someone important in terms of their religion. He is a serious person when it comes to their culture and tradition with a serious dislike of what he calls “Polyester Pawnee” - people who display their culture more in terms of what films show it to be than reality. He has a certain respect for them at least doing something; he just isn’t sure he approves of it 100%. Kind of like how I am with the silly costume-style pilgrims and Daniel Boones.
Ages ago when we were both much younger and prettier, he had a bit of a grudge against one guy from the Plains tribes - if memory serves me right, the guy portrayed/purported himself as a “Cherry Cow”. Zack (my friend) got him into a game of sticks and pretty much cleaned his clock. As winner he got to pick from the dude’s possessions and took his head-dress - major coup. I ended up with it as a not-totally-gift since I had given him a ride to and from the event; basically he traded it to me for the gas money he didn’t kick in. I actually wore it a time or two at archery events just for the Hell of it. And on a friends bike once or twice; it was an Indian Chief and seemed appropriate. Then I just stuck it aside. I do stuff like that now and then.
Yes, I’m strange and so are my friends. But we’re the ones who end up with the cool stuff in the end.
Does it count if its more bits and pieces? I have mentioned that I hang with a few different Native re-enactors, right?
Again, another long story short. From a guy I met at Old Fort Niagara who was in anatomical supply, I ended up with a bag of finger bones. And I’m talking bank bag sized, not lunch bag sized, bag. I passed them off to a Native I know and he made several war necklaces out of them using the bones as you would pipe beads. Still have that tucked away somewhere as well.
Always wanted a skull but I don’t have one of those.

Hate to do three in a row but as you can tell from the time-stamp, I’ve had a real Friday the 13th. There was a semi-serious accident in the docking area at work before I got there but the end result was that Daylight got sent home having done almost nothing. Which then meant my shift and shipping had to process all 80,000 packages. My shift did about 60k and I stayed late to help out the following crew. Didn’t get home until a bit after 11:30. The good news is everyone will get their perfect package on time tomorrow. The bad news is I’m whipped ----- and not in a recreational-fun-sort-of-way. Nitey-nite all!
Survived!
Turns out if you’re scheduled for the last procedure of the day on Friday, they really want you to get OUT at the end of the day. Works for me. Stopped for mac n’ cheese and a hot fudge sundae on the way home. Yummy.
**FCD **is on his way south. Higgs has been fed. I’m thinking we’ll all retire to the bedchamber again shortly, because I’s tahred!
Later today when it warms a bit, I’ll go suck up some leaves in the yard. What I don’t do today I’ll finish tomorrow. Yep, I know how to whoop it up when I’m without adult supervision. Party on, Garth!!
So it’s just me till late Thursday. Me and the critters. rah. Happy Saturday!
Up, caffeinated, off to work. Hockey after work.
Up & off to (all-day!) class, then race tonight, then all-day class tomorrow. I’ll be looking forward to a nice, relaxing day at irk on Moanday.
P.S. (in other words, too late for edit window) Not everything in the Used Halloween dept is a good bargin, even at 50¢/box. :o
tl;dr
very blurfy today - not as bad as yesterday, but bad enough to keep me tethered to the loo
Blarg. Woke up about 5 a.m., used the restroom, played another football game. Mah Flashes absolutely throttled the Illinois Fighting Illini, 77-0. In the real world, my basketball Indiana Hoosiers convincingly won their season debut, and my Indiana Pacers beat the Timberwolves by 4.
Now just lying in bed, chillin’, catchin’ up with fellow Mumpers, and I might roleplay a little.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffeinated, and havin’ a brekkie of peach yogurt and bananana. 'Tis 45 Amurrkin out and clear (the stars are ok were, as 'tis now daylight pretty) with a predicted high of 64 and sunny. Today’s plan is sloth. I will probably even go back to bed for a while.
sunny glad the surgery went well. Here’s to a speedy recovery.
rosie hope you’re feelin’ better today.
OK, that’s all I got for now. I shall finish up brekkie and then decide whether or not I go back to sleepy land for a while. Decisions, decisions, decisions…
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
It’s 38 Amurrkin out right now, with a high today of 57. By contrast it’s 23 in my sister’s hometown of Carlin, NV. She enjoys cold weather so much, she can have it.
Roleplaying now. My Callie character has invited a friend to her house for a meal.
I put up a thread about the second film in the Disney Animated Canon, Pinocchio. It’s intended to be part of a series that will cover every film in the canon; hopefully I’ll get the Fantasia one up sometime before this time next year.
I went back to bed, hoping to snooze, but it was broken by cat, dog, and weird dreams. So I’m up, showered, dressed, and breakfasting, waiting for a call from my sweetie. He should be close to, or in, North Carolina already. I expect he’ll call when he stops for gas, tho he filled in Dahlgren as soon as he crossed the bridge.
Once the little store opens, I’ll go pick up the check for my October sales, then head to the credit union and the grocery store. I hate grocery shopping on Saturday, but the whole work thing messed up my grocery routine. Oh well…
Very sad about the mess in Paris. I just don’t understand what they’re trying to accomplish. I fear this may truly start WWIII, as every civilized nation band together to wipe out ISIS. It’s not going to be done with drones - it’ll have to be done the old fashioned, bloody way. Sad sad day…
They’re trying to make people afraid. That’s what terrorists do. I agree, it’s a sad, sad day; the equivalent of 9/11 for France.
I imagine they are annoyed at the French wanting folks to assimilate. While they may have not done well in two World Wars, this won’t make them capitulate, it will cause a huge reaction against Muslims and folks from the Mid East, which will not be a Good Thing.
I don’t mean just accomplish in France - I mean everywhere they launch attacks, along with destroying archaeological sites. Do they honestly think people will go “Oh, yes, I want to be one of those guys”??? or “Well, now I see that their way is the right way”??
My sweetie just called - he’s about 50 miles inside NC. He should get to Ocala early in the evening, depending on traffic. I’m so glad we got cruise control in the truck and I know he’s glad he got satellite radio turned back on in the truck.
Anyway, killing time till 10 when the store opens.
Terrorists are basically just Daleks, or Borg, or, for that matter, any group that believes different is wrong, different is bad.
The only thing they are trying to accomplish is to get rid of everyone that doesn’t think/worship/behave the way they do. Terrorists come in all colors. They are narrow-minded bullies. It’s that simple.
