Game of Thrones 3.04 "And Now His Watch is Ended" 4/21/13 No Book Spoilers

I have to admit, I felt really sorry for Theon when it was revealed it was back where he started. In general I think he’s a sniveling whining annoying little shit, but at that moment I sincerely felt for him.

I wonder why they never explained exactly how Theon ended up where he was/is. Are we supposed to assume that his own men sold him out?

I dunno. When your new master says “Kill the guys who beat you and cut off your balls!”, the whole “never attack Astapor” thing might well go out the window. They are trained to follow their master’s order, and that’s one they could probably get behind pretty easily.

We saw his men sell him out. Dagmer knocked him out with a spear last season.

It was somewhat ambiguous - he could’ve been knocking him out to drag him home because he was determined to fight in a last stand, but yeah, probably sold him out.

Well THAT would have made for a dramatic scene!

From what I’ve seen, royals in the GoT universe fuck each other over for shits and giggles. Even not knowing of Daenerys’ onus against slavers, Slaver Guy was waaay too much of patsy.

Dagmer said ‘Come on boys, let’s go home’ after knocking Theon out with a spear. I assumed this referred to Robb’s offer that any ironborn who surrendered (except Theon) would be free to return home.

The thing about Daenerys is: everyone underestimates her.

They see a petite blonde chick who talks big but (apparently) has little to back up her words. What they don’t see, until it’s too late, is the will of iron, the guts, the determination, and the (apparent) will of the Gods that she win every contest she gets into.

So everyone who doesn’t know her underestimates her. Even Jorah is constantly surprised by her ability to annihilate everyone that stands in her way.

So it’s not surprising that the chief slaver thought he could best this bossy little blonde chick. He was just another schmuck who underestimated Daenerys and paid with his life. I’m guessing we’ll see more of them till word finally gets out that Daenerys is Game of Thrones’ version of Omar from The Wire: you see her coming your way, start running.

The final scene of the episode had me thinking: Oh, look, now Daenerys has an army to go along with her air force. Do you really doubt she’ll acquire a navy as well?

She happily goes along with the underdog role too. And that’s what makes her dangerous.
She had to stand there and pretend not to hear those insults the guy flung at her, looking all ditzy. But how long can she keep that up? She now has a reliable army that listens to HER (not to Drogo) and she has three dragons. Surely the other cities are now warned?

I can see how the Nightwatch stuff is boring some people. To me it’s just a tad slow but I assume it’s all part of setting things up until shit hits the fan (or the Wall actually) ?
The Watch is in disarray, the wildlings are about to pour over the wall and behind them are the white walkers.

I got a big kick out of all the stuff in King’s Landing. Joffrey once again showing how much of a little prick he is (hehe. Murderboner! I love it) and Margaery just playing along to wrap him around her finger.
Then how she played Sansa, probably knowing very well that she had a little crush on him (remember how smitten she was in s1 at the tournament)
And yes, Vaerys, grandma, Tywin and everyone were awesome too.

Theon is getting seriously fucked over and both he and the audience has no clue why.
The guy helps him and then leads him back?
Perhaps he’s just playing a game with him to help himself up the ladder? “I am the hero who returned the prisoner” or perhaps he’s one sick bastard… I’m intrigued where they go with this.

Dewey Finn – the mods are happy to help y’all with adding spoiler boxes, etc. – but when you flat-out quote a spoiler post while telling someone not to make spoiler posts, it kind of defeats the purpose, no?

The result of the discussion last year is actually that we’d prefer to keep spoiler boxes out of the thread. If it needs spoiler boxes, it belongs in the other thread. It’s easiest/cleanest/most consistent if everything in here was done as if we were in a universe where the books didn’t exist and the TV show were its own entity entirely.

But I guess if you have to box spoilerish content because you can’t delete it, it’s better than nothing. But yeah, shouldn’t quote the material in question, just makes it tough on the mods.

I loved the part when Dani had the dragon shoot fire and said “Hot enough for ya?”

That’s why Bronn should marry Dany.

No, it’s like buying all the guns in the store, even the special one the guy keeps under the counter for defense.

No, the obvious one to marry Dany is The Hound. She’d keep him in line!

I know exactly what you mean. He’s a bad person who, at that point, was just beginning to come to terms with how he was a bad person. Maybe just maybe (but probably not) this could be the start of something better maybe.

But nope. Doom.

Dany needs someone like Pod of house Mandingo to keep her in line.

Loras was willing to tell his lover Renly that he needed to get down to business and bone his sister, so I suspect that he would be able to at least do his duty and bed Sansa from time to time, at least until he produced an heir. The Tyrells seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Moreover, gay men through out history have done their duty and produced an heir and a spare. Why should Loras be any different?

As it is. I wonder what the hell is Tywins strategy versus Robb Stark. Who has beaten the Lannisters senseless throughout the war. I doubt he is going to be willing to accept Robb as the King in the North. But, his men have proven amazingly inept at stoping the young Wolf.
Finally, how long before Westros learns that Dany has whacked a whole town. With Dragonfire?

And who will believe it when the word gets out? People say there are giants beyond the Wall and that Robb Stark turns into a wolf. Sober, learned men know these kinds of stories are preposterous, regardless of what commoners or foriegners say.
