What will happen to Sansa if the Lannisters learn that Jamie has has his hand forcible removed from his arm?
I think the key to the stuff with Dany is that the Master dude had no idea that there was some bad blood on Dany’s part. I mean, we know, but he didn’t he though he had just made a regular old deal. I suppose he should have been more cautious in hindsight, but what was obvious to us was perfectly not obvious to him.
So here’s what I don’t understand: Stark forces are outside the castle, preparing to lay siege. Theon sees his situation is hopeless, and gathers the men for a suicidal charge. They humor him for a moment, then bonk him on the head and put a bag on him.
So they’ve sold him out to the Starks, right? In exchange for a free pass to go home. Makes sense.
Only in the next scene, Winterfell is burning, and everybody’s dead except the boys and their attendants. They wander around and find the Meister, dying, and he tells them to flee.
So where are the Stark forces?
Did they disappear? Where did they go? Shouldn’t they have repossessed Winterfell?
Then there’s the Theon mystery.
Why in the world would somebody go to the trouble of freeing him, and killing his pursuers, only to lead him back to torture chamber where he started?
I’m thinking the only explanation is that the elder Killjoy is behind it. It must have been the sister out there blowing the horn, and not the Starks. The old man must think that breaking Theon’s spirit is of some advantage to him. Not sure that makes sense, but I think that’s what it must be.
Consider the Night Watch sent a messenger to King’s Landing telling them the dead are walking-- please send real men and not a bunch of bastard boys and criminals-- and the small counsil laughed at them.
There ARE giants beyond the wall and Robb doesn’t turn into a wolf but he does have a wolf to do his bidding.
Plus one of the major plotlines in season 1 is baratheon sending assassins to go take out Dany before Ned intervened. It’s a bit of a wonder why nobody in the last season and a half seemed to follow up on that. They knew she had Dothrakis. Why shouldn’t they know she has dragons now too? And an army and 2 cities plundered in her name.
ps, I’m still unclear on exactly how much she was able to commandeer from Qarth. Just 1 boat? That seems on the low end.
And nobody believes it, that’s the point he was trying to make.
During the first season Jorah was feeding them the info, he even got a full pardon for it. Instead of going back he decided to stop the assassin and stay with Dany. Going after the Targaryens was a personal vendetta of King Robert, with him out of the picture and their main source of information having turned there is neither the will nor a way to keep up with her.
One boat and enough stuff to buy a few dozen unsullied from that the slaver said.
The boys sneak out before the Stark men are known to be on their way. The iron islanders hear the Starks are coming, knock Theon out, burn Winterfell, and go back to the Iron Islands before the Starks get there. The Meister doesn’t know the Iron islanders have fled and tells the boys to go to the wall.
What they did with Theon is the mystery. I believe they sold him to somebody who will eventually sell him to Robb. The guy who got him to escape was a spy for someone who wanted Theon to take him into confidence. Not sure who or why though.
That’s nice, but the guys in charge in Westeros think that giants and Robb Stark’s lycanthropy are both silly stories only suitable for scaring children. They are 50% correct.
Because fantastical stories from far away lands are a dime a dozen. Also…
If they think the Night’s Watch is full of crap about the white walkers, what’s the chance they’ll believe some barely-civilized foreigner’s nonsense about dragons? “She sacked the city with dragons? How interesting. Run along now.”
Didn’t Varys and Tyrion have a conversation about Dany last season? Basically it came down to “If she really has dragons, then we’re screwed anyway, but we’ve got bigger issues to deal with now.”
Yes, he told Bolton to send his bastard to siege winterfell. He also told him to offer the ironborn the chance to surrender and go home, except for Theon. To which Bolton replied “with that offer they will betray him themselves”. They even replayed that scene on the “previously on” montage of the episode were Theon is taken captive by his own men. While not entirely clear it seemed to me they were heavily implying that is exactly what happened.
They weren’t “Stark men”, it was Roose Bolton’s bastard and his men. Important difference. And they had Winterfell surrounded - remember Theon being infuriated by the horn blower?
True, but we don’t really know anything about Bolton, other than he’s acting on Rob’s command, and in his place. Rob was convinced to send Bolton’s bastard rather than go himself. He must have believed the Bolton bastard was reliable and trustworthy.
And it’s clear that Theon believed he was surrounded by Stark men. That’s the reason for the glorious death speech, before getting bonked on the head.
