Ah, OK. Thanks!
Littlefinger? Going to!? But he, Varys, Pycelle are all the same. Pycelle is the master of the poorly thought out plot. Baelish is more sophisticated, but transparent (at least to the obvious). It’s not clear what Varys is driving at as far as goals, except that he seems more benevolent (but clearly not completely), and loves talking about his ex-junk.
Extirpated is the fancy word.
Ah, found the new theme song!
It’s actually a matter of wild speculation for me as to why Varys did what he did. What does he get out of it? Was he simply trying to look out for Shae? To test Shae? To hurt Tyrion? To help Tyrion? Just for shits and giggles because he didn’t have much to do this season after he finally found his de-peniser?
Ah, the maddening part of GoT. You have no idea if the scene that you obsess over is going to be a plot point in the future or if you’re just being futilely analytic.
Yeah, that’s my thoughts about them as well - Pycelle is like Cersei, he thinks he’s clever but he’s really not. Littlefinger is actually clever, but his ego and his pathological need to speechify gets in his way big time. I don’t know what the hell Varys is about - but damn if he isn’t the slickest of 'em all.

It wasn’t a Stark banner, it was the Frey’s banner. Definitely to avoid being attacked.

Yup.
Also are they CGI in that they create wireframe and textured animated models or are they just composite videos to make real dogs look big?
It varies from shot to shot, but most of the time they’re re-scaled real dogs.
I think the “shift” was Sansa being too much of a lady to say “shit”, but that exchange was a bit hard to decipher.
I thought it was the “posh lady trying to sound street” trope - she’s (mis)heard people say “shit” at some point in her life but since it’s sort of a foreign word to her, she gets it wrong. Tyrion is about to correct her before they get interrupted.
Well, power plays beyond “trusted advisor to the king.” Varys is talking about Littlefinger getting an actual army and everything.
Agreed; Tywin’s concerned with the loss of resources, not human rights. He’s also concerned with appearances, which is why he gave himself plausible deniability regarding exactly how the Freys would kill the Starks.
Listen, strange women raisin’dragons is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some flyin’ lizard…
maybe this was covered but how does this relate to the story Bran told about the eating of the children. He said the greatest sin was killing a guest under your protection or something like that. Doesn’t that sort of set Walder Frey up to be easily taken down by the Lannisters when they choose to do so?
These sort of things and all the pics and gifs are what make these threads the best.
They used Northern Inuit Dogs when the direwolves were younger. Now they use real wolves scaled larger with CGI.
Yeah, Littlefinger has a lot of de jure power, his de facto power is whomever he can fuck over. I think a Harrelhal army could come, but it would take a long time (clean the corpses first?). Tyrion, I feel, is a semi-crappy plotter. But I know he’s your (every GoT fan’s) favorite character!
Those 3 guys will definitely be at each other’s throats. Well, Pycelle seems less plot-important thus far.
I support the People’s Liberation Front of Yunkai. And not the jerks in the Yunkaish Liberation Front. The Front of Liberating Yunkai is right out.
Varys has shown that he really does care about the welfare of King’s Landing. Varys supports Tyrion because he knows Tyrion is a decent man who will actually do his best to see to the welfare of King’s Landing and everyone in it.
Now, you can say that Varys cares about KL because he’s a big fish there and anywhere else he’d be just another eunuch, and that might even be true, but the fact remains that Varys consistently works to serve King’s Landing.
So why did he try to get Shae to leave? He said why: Shae distracts Tyrion, she is his weakness. I see no reason to doubt that Varys was being entirely sincere in that scene.
She doesn’t need to come back to Westeros right this very second. The dragons are not mature enough, not big enough and still in training.
Her military forces are on the small side, and good enough for bashing slavers, but against the armies of the west, they dont have enough depth to cover everything from winterfell to Kings landing.
The way the white walkers and every other undead thing are coming down south, she may end up entering westeros as a saviour instead of an invader. I imagine actual dragon fire would do just as well or better than dragon glass for taking down White walkers.
Declan
Sansa grew up with two older brothers, a tomboy kid sister, and in a castle with dozens of soldiers and peasants. There is absolutely no way she hasn’t heard the word ‘shit’ before.
Yeah, that wasn’t believable.
Actually, I assumed when she said “sheep shift” that shift was the Westeros equivalent of shit. Like how they use ser instead of sir or maestre instead of master.
If that’s the case Tyrion wouldn’t have had to ask what she meant by “shift.”
“When you take such a noisome shift in the torlette, pray spray some Essence of Fey-breeze!” said Maester Benjimin to Ser Fraynklin.
And also there’s the fact that people say “shit” all the time on the show.
