Game of Thrones 6.07 "The Broken Man" 6/5/16 [Show Discussion]

I was waiting for Davos to say he had a cunning plan to defeat the Boltons

I think why Maergery isn’t doing her wifely duties is for no other reason that she is pissed at the king for not rescuing her and her brother. She recognizes him for the wimp he is and that’s a complete turn off.

I figured the Hound just recognized that they were going to be trouble, and that’s why he talked to the Septon about how he might have to resort to violence again.

The Brotherhood Without Boners

Well, they said the Lord of Light “amen” bit of “The night is dark and full of terrors.”
That’s a clue that they are followers or are at least familiar enough and pretending.

I am so stealing this.

I thought I recognized Volantis right away, even before they cut to Theon, based on what we saw when Tyrion was there. The crowded buildings right on the bridge over the canal (or bay) was pictured - Tyrion was pissing off a balcony into the water when Joras nabbed him.

Agreed, though they certainly acted like they were followers of the Lord of Light. Upon their departure after riding up to the septon’s group the first time, they did say to be careful because “the night is dark and full of terrors.” Isn’t that the catchphrase for followers of the Lord of Light?

I dunno, it seemed to come pretty natural to her.

Me too. This show is a bit too quick paced, at times. :dubious:

The faceless men are too good at their job. Rather, I wondered why the waiff let her live. She’s a trained assassin, and she should have had zero issue with actually killing her right away. I wondered is this could have been some other kind of test rather than a real failed attempt to get her dead.

Yeah. Let’s just give her the iron throne, get rid of all other wimps and morons who fight for it and get over with the show. We clearly now know who should be in charge.

I thought of him too and wondered if we would see him suddenly appear in the crowd.

I was totally stunned that the brotherhood would just massacre a bunch of unarmed peasants. That’s totally the polar opposite of what they were fighting for. Why? Because they followed the faith of the seven? They turned into total murderous fanatics???

Maybe. It didn’t seem a very clear message to me.

A septuary.

Me too.

I assumed so much.

Related : I read somewhere last week that the produced had stated that Littlefinger actually was sincere and didn’t realize in what situation he was putting Sansa when he made her accept to marry Ramsay. Being that clueless is out of character, but on the other hand, putting Sansa into serious harm’s way was equally out of character. Glad that they cleared this up because frankly they didn’t convey this message well.
Also, a great episode. I loved the scene when the lady of thorns states clearly why Cersei is doomed and why. But frankly I would have liked the two previous seasons to be a little more quick paced and this one slower paced. Too many things happening too quickly.

You know I’m probably completely off the wall here, but when I saw the dead bodies when the hound came back, my first thought was Jonestown Koolaid. As in the Septon had poisoned them all and then hung himself. All in order to avoid having to fight possibly, as in the septon thought it was better for them all to die rather than have to fight. Remember how he was adamant that the hound come and drink some ale? Yeah there was some blood but that could have been a symptom of the type of poison. Another odd thing, the women were among the dead. If it was the Brotherhood without Banners wouldn’t they have raped and taken the women captive? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Yeah I know thats not it, just saying what my thoughts were.

RE: Ian McShane, I suspect a resurrection. The Hound owes him and knows of someone capable of the job.

I doubt that’s it, because I don’t think that Margaery has ever had any attraction to Tommen, and she definitely wasn’t having sex with him before because she thought he was a big powerful king. She’s too pragmatic for attraction or lack of to get in the way of wifely duties if it would help her out.

I think it’s like Duke of Rat speculated, that she’s really playing up her piousness, as a way to manipulate the High Sparrow and/or Tommen.

It’s either a test for the Waif since her feelings are getting in her way, or just the Waif failing to do her duty, and Arya will end up killing her, and the Waif’s face will be the one going on the wall. She should have been able to kill Arya immediately, and messed it up because she really doesn’t like Arya.

Good spot! I didn’t recognise him at all.

The first resurrections by the red priest were necessary to show that it’s possible in this world. Johns resurrection was necessary for the story. Any more would be just superfluous and make it ridiculous. Lets just bring Ned, Rob and Caitlyn Stark back to life and they can all live happily ever after eh? Nope, not in GRRM’s world.

When he first met Ramsay, he said he didn’t know anything about him. Maybe a little recon would have helped, pairing Sansa up with a sadistic psycho wasn’t what Littlefinger needed. She might jump off a wall instead of sticking around, or something.

Do we know for sure there are any"faceless" assasins beyond Waif and Jaqen? I recall that there were other workers carting bodies around the House Of Black and White but didn’t get the impression that they were necessarily of the same job description.

Definitely Volantis, although Volantis is still a good distance from Slaver’s Bay. The fleet still needs to go through or around the ruins of Valyria.

From the look on Littlefinger’s face when Sansa was telling him what happened to her it definitely seemed he was genuinely distressed. I know Littlefinger is an expert in not revealing his true intentions but it looked to me like for once he was being authentic.

Well, I know a few phrases from the RCC liturgy, but that doesn’t make me Catholic. The horseman might easily have said what he did for misdirection or to cast blame on others for what was later going to happen.

Too many open wounds and spilled blood for it to be poisoning.

Lyanna Mormont aka “Little Grizzly”

my new favorite, so I assume she dies in the next episode.
