Oh, and as for “teleporting” I’d note that more time passes in these episodes than the viewer perceives. Arya and Varys seem to arrive at their destinations quickly, but notice also that all the lords of the North were in Winterfell, which also takes time. We can assume that weeks have passed since episode 9.
What exactly was Zombie!Gregor going to do with the Septa? Tear her eyes out? Mean he is rotting, so its not like he has much errr tensile strength left to rape her anyway.
Okay, so we don’t know whether the Mad King had one or two wives, right? If he had 2, then I wonder if Jon’s grandmother is Dany’s mother? Though I’m not sure how much difference it makes if Jon marries his aunt or his half aunt (?).
I’ve not read the books. Do Jon and/or Stansa really want to rule all Westeros or would they be satisfied with Winterfell and the North? If they want it all, I submit it’d be wiser for them to hang back and let Dany’s army expend itself to some degree defeating Lannister/Frey before they start.
I expect as word trickles around that Winterfell has changed hands again both Sam and Anya will get the news and may at least send message bearing ravens up North. Perhaps Theon also. Maybe the betting for next season will be do Jaime or Anya get Cercei first? Though it could be a dragon too. :: shrug ::
And I’m wondering about Tyrion’s loyalty when Dany goes against King’s Landing. Especially if Cercei is dead and Jaime is sitting on the Iron Throne (if that’s possible).
You’re right. It’s sort of like that time I forgave my thoracic surgeon after he burned my friend’s god-daughter alive.
By the way, were we meant to understand what Lyanna whispered to Ned? I could only make out something about “protect him”. I know what was happening because the Internet spoiled that whole theory. Did the show make clear whether she was with Rhaegar willingly or not?
The Kings Landing bits were all over the course of the same day, at least that is my take on it since Cersie is still wearing the same clothes.
Speaking of Cersie, Did she just drive her son to suicide with that intent in mind? She dressed in her queens armored skirt first thing in the morning. It looks like she set the whole day in motion. Was there even a queens crown prior to this? or did she have that thing made? (probably not relevant, about the crown but it could be a plot point between her and Jamie)
This isn’t the Walking Dead, Hes not a zombie in any normal sense of the word. He certainly understands what is said in his presence. I am certain that a bit of rape was in the plans for the day. (Best line of the episode goes to Cersi, “Shame, Shame, Shame”)
Arya is truly a Faceless Man, able to create her own faces and use them. (talk about some creepy corpses to find, I hope she doesn’t turn all her victims into pies) And damn it was good to see her after the last fiasco she was in, I like this much better.
Dany, the Queen of Thorns (second best line of the episode, “anything from you? no? good.” Yara, and Splinter have now officially teamed up and are headed to Kings Landing with a massive army including dragons who are going to have to fly the whole way there in one shot. (boy are my wings tired) Cersie is as dead as her kids, she just doesn’t know it yet. The Lannisters are in serious danger of becoming extinct leaving Tyrion to inherit.
Sansa did indeed play both Jon and Ramsay, She also seemed awfully happy about Jon becoming the King in the North. At least until she got a look at Balish. He looked like his plans were jacked and he was trying to work out how to save them, She looked like she realized that she was still in his plans.
Weird points, I have no idea what was up with Pycel, unless for some strange reason he was not going to the trial (and that is my guess, he wasn’t) there was no reason to kill him the way they did. Unless it was to show us that his little birds are also assassins. Lancel was there simply to give us a reason to see the pretty green stuff go off.
It was reasonably clear from the show alone that they were together willingly, Balish in particular when he and Sansa were in the crypts had a reaction that made the accepted story look like something he wasn’t buying.
Ranger Jeff, you are about to get some wildfire lit under you. You have misspelled a name. Shame! Shame! Shame!
Incidentally, what exactly happened to the midwives? Might they not be a very very very big hole in the whole “keep this a secret” business? Or did Ned off screen introduce them to his sword? His actual sword, pervs.
And furthermore
-
IIRC The first episode or so stated that Benjen knew about Jon’s mother. Why did he not tell Bran?
-
Moreover, why exactly did Ned *not tell *Caitlyn? "This sprog is not mine, he is my sister’s, we are going to pretend he is mine, or better yet say he is some dead Lord’s who I am raising, and lets keep quiet about this M’Lady, Now what’s for dinner? Getting superior swordsmen stabbed in the back by my henchman is hungry business." That would have been so much better than making her think he had cuckquean her.
-
What exactly does Dany intend to do with Meereen, Volantis et al. Give them their independance?
I think Jaime is going to end up adding “Queenslayer” to his list of nicknames. House Lannister has no allies and no real hope of holding King’s Landing, and even Cersei must realize that. It seems very likely that we’re heading to a repeat of history with her taking the role of the “Mad Queen.” She doesn’t really have any other play to make at this point besides taking down as many other people with her as possible.
Don’t quite see why Pycelle had to be eliminated. He’s always been happy to support whoever is in power. I suppose he knew enough to be a threat to Qyburn?
Did Kevan die in the explosion? I know Mace was there but I don’t remember seeing Kevan.
- Apparently yes, although the Sons will be keeping the peace until a democratic government can be set up. It makes me wonder if that is eventually the path she intends for Westeros. Varys and Tyrion seem to honestly believe she represents true change. Unless they are extremely short sighted, that means Westeros needs to move away from the monarchy. They may have faith in Dany, but her kids might not be so great. If the idea of people freely electing their leaders is already in her head, I have to think that’s her longterm goal for Westeros too.
That was one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen. Wow.
Maybe because Arya is new to making face masks. Did she kill that girl?
Thoros is the only contact that Melisandre has in Westros that we have seen. She didn’t have a problem finding him before. She also predicted a reunion with Arya. Will she have a chance to tell Arya that Gendry may be alive?
He’s still a bastard, so he’s still Jon Snow. Just happens to have both Targaryen and Stark blood in him. Hail the King in the North!
No need to spoiler-box speculation, and I agree and speculated a few seasons back that the valonqar would end up being Jaime, since this whole time she has been expecting that the prophecy was referring to Tyrion. And of course that’s going to be a far more tragic way for her to go, especially after we just heard Jaime give that whole speech about how he’d kill everyone in the world for her.
I acknowledged that it was a possibility, but we couldn’t assume it was a foregone conclusion that it would be a future event, which we couldn’t. But yeah, that was the exact shot that appeared in the vision, so you were right about that. Which also means we probably will be seeing the dragon flying over a smoking King’s Landing shot during next season as well.
Hell yeah, I cracked up at that bit. “That’s irregular”, followed by Sam saying “Well I suppose you could say life is irregular” and just cutting back and forth between Sam beaming at him and his stone-cold bitch face? Comedy gold.
Post 62:
I saw Kevan in the crowd, near Mace.
The next two seasons will be short and concentrate on the end game. Jorah’s story is probably over. However, when Dany heads north I think her memory of Jorah will be important if Lady Mormont is present at negotiations.
Very impressive. But I speculated that Ned wasn’t really Jon’s father nearly three weeks ago.
Seriously, if you want credit for being first to propose any conceivable theory on any aspect of this story, you need a time machine set for about 20 years ago.
He swam. Really, really fast.
There are a lot of characters for Tyrion to have reunions with. His siblings, his wife, Pod, Bronn and even Jon Snow. I hope we get to see most of them.
I wonder if Sansa will be honest about how she escaped or if she will lie to protect Little Finger.
Is it true they’re only doing 10 more episodes total? So we’re just going to have 5 episode seasons? That would be extremely lame.
