Game of Thrones 6.10 "The Winds of Winter" 6/26/16 [Show discussion]

Fair point, but it is pretty annoying to see people posting the exact same thing I already posted.

The new Three-Eyed Raven begs to differ…

  1. You’re misremembering. Benjen didn’t know.

  2. It’s much easier keeping a secret when only one person knows it instead of 2. All Cat would have to do is say one word in 17 years and it’d put Jon’s life in danger. Plus Ned only knew her for like one day before the war. He couldn’t know to trust her.

I’m not positive that Arya is going to be a force against the White Walkers. She’s more of a free radical, bouncing around Westoros, causing chaos in service of her own goals. IMO, she’s more likely to simply be a deadly distraction than an asset in the war against the Night King.

Having the little birds kill Pycell illustrated how much control Qyburn has over them, not to mention the depths of his depravity. It also made the scene extra disturbing, and distinguished Qyburn from Varys; I can’t see Varys ever using his birds to stab a dude to death.

“He’s got no balls, he’s [hydrodynamic]!” [/robinwilliams]

Dude, nobody cares. Not everyone is going to read every post before they speculate so as to not offend someone that’s going to brag about it in 8 weeks.

My guess is that as the new Three-Eyed Raven, Bran is going to soon be merging with tree roots and.wont need locomotion. Isn’t that what Meets.was talking about when she asked whether he was ready?

We have no reason to suspect that Aerys the Mad King had more than one wife. The question is whether Prince Rhaegar—his son and Daenerys’s brother—took Lyanna Stark as a second wife.

[redacted-ITD]

Ok, just for the record

, is the whole books don’t exist thing abolished now? Because, there has been zero indication in the show that Joanna ever even met Aerys, unlike the books, where that theory has support.

Maybe the OP or a mod could decide.

Reading the thread before you post is generally considered to be a wise move. It’s not foolproof but it does help reduce the repetitiveness and the repetitiveness.

FWIW…

[spoiler]… that part of the prophecy doesn’t happen in the TV series. I haven’t read the books, so I had no idea what you meant. Deliberately left out or not, who knows?

Even if someone has read the entire thread, I don’t think they’re obliged to acknowledge that someone else has speculated on the same thing. We don’t give out points for stuff.

I read something on the web stating ‘they’ thought they’d need about 15 more episodes to finish it all off after the end of season 6, so we may be seeing an extra-long final season, or the final season split into two 8 episode seasons.

Sorry, no cite.

Well, Jaime’s a bad dude, that’s for sure. I think the show has been pretty clear, though, that essentially everyone is a pretty bad dude. Everyone has streaks of gray. Nearly everyone does terrible things. But the show pretty clearly delineates between the people who do terrible things but have streaks of decency underneath, and the people who are out-and-out monsters without conscience. Sandor Clegane has done some awful things, but the show clearly wants us to view him as morally superior to his brother, who was basically just a hellbeast even before he became an undead hellbeast.

I think Jaime has been portrayed as more on the Sandor Clegane side of things; he’s been a wicked man, and he’s nowhere near done being one. But he has a conscience, and he has an aspiration to be a better person; his conversations with Brienne show this. Cersei, on the other hand, has moved to the side of the ledger where Ramsay, Joffrey, and Gregor all lived. She is a remorseless butcher, and she can’t even pretend to be doing it for her children anymore.

I will be extremely surprised if this doesn’t result in tension between them.

Another great episode, I thought the trial would be getting wildfired but predicted that Tommen would be toasted too, bringing about the Mad Queen. Driving him to suicide would probably do it too, though.

Varys joined Dany with the Tyrell fleet, you can see the Tyrell rose on the sails of some of Dany’s ships.

I’m wondering if Dany will take after Elizabeth I, and remain unmarried.

She did suggest to Daario that she might not marry, didn’t she?

So much love for Cersei’s evil queen outfit. In such a great episode that stood out as an incredible detail.

I guess now we know why it’s called King’s Landing.

Ba-dum cha!

I had an uneasy feeling about this scene. Many people seem to think Sansa looked happy about everyone hailing Jon as new “King of the North!”, but I don’t know…

While Jon had basically confirmed her as head of House Stark only a bit earlier, he didn’t even bother to utter a peep about it when everyone pledged allegiance to him. The truth is, not only is he not officially head of House Stark, but he also pretty much lost the battle before (thanks to Sansa’s doing) the Knights of the Vale rode in and saved the day. One does wonder whether similar thoughts were crossing Sansa’s mind as she sat there in silence, and ignored by everyone.

There definitely was an exchange of meaningful glances between her and Littlefinger, who’d offered her a far more prestigious role as his queen only a short time ago. She may just be reconsidering how squicked out about his advances she actually is.

Absolutely. It was gratifying for Sansa to see through Littlefinger’s advances, but she may well be thinking of the advice Cersei gave her in the Red Keep during the Battle of Blackwater Bay. Sansa may start to use her sexuality as a weapon, now that she’s been reminded how important it is.

You know what’s really annoying? When someone makes a point similar to one you’ve made, and you have to point out what a grave mistake they’ve made and that you raced to the keyboard first to make a similar point and they better fucking bow down and respect that.

Because if it turns out that some of the speculation or obvious dot-connecting you race to put out there first comes true, you’re going to gloat and call out people who had other speculation or disagreed.

Of all the annoying behavior everyone has in these threads, yours is the worst.
