Game of Thrones 7.07 "The Dragon and the Wolf" 8/27/17

He probably reasoned that Bran had heard the quote from Varys at some point.

“I told you not to trust me” is harder to explain away, but of course by that point, LF was dead meat.

Arya should have brought Hot Pie to Winterfell to work as a cook. Then Littlefinger could have choked to death on a piece of direwolf bread.

She’s only in her early 40s so it’s still plausible for her to have gotten pregnant naturally, but I don’t think she’s faking it I’m not entirely convinced she’s actually pregnant ether. Cersei truly believes she’s pregnant, and even if she’s right there’s still the possibility that something’s terribly wrong with the fetus (not that anyone would be able to tell until delivery).

Where are the wolves, BTW? They seemed so important in the beginning, but they’ve been killed off or abandoned. Jon’s is still alive, IIRC. They have to tie that in next season but there doesn’t seem any logical place to do so.

Not that logic had anything to do with this season.

These threads are made under the guise that the books do not exist. There are other threads for those who wish to discuss both the show and books together, but this thread is not that one, so please follow the rules of them. Just a note, though.

We saw Arya’s earlier in the season. Those are the only two left.

Ghost’s chillin’ in his kennel up in Castle Black, or Winterfell maybe. (What happened to Summer? I don’t remember how he died.)

The showrunners have said that they hate doing the direwolf scenes, because they’re expensive as hell and never look right.

(emphasis added)

Yup. I completely believe I’m seeing a dragon and the characters are interacting with an actual creature, but the scene with Nymeria and Arya this season looked like bad CGI. Maybe hair is exceptionally tough.

Check out this live action footage on an albatross couple from Planet Earth 2. It’s a weird effect, it looks like a cartoon.

Funny and sad at the same time to read the comments saying that the plot couldn’t possibly develop the way the spoilers indicated, because it was too stupid to make any sense.

There’s a little face palming in those spoilers…but overall I find them quite believable. I also find the notion that people think Jon and Dany is forced to be silly. I predicted it ages ago.

You know. . . Jon, Dany and Tyrion all killed their mothers in childbirth. This does not bode well for all the possibly pregnant ladies.

Summer was killed in the White Walker attack on the Three-eyed Raven’s cave allowing Bran and Meera time to escape.

Sansa’s Lady was executed by Ned in place of Nymeria after she bit Joffrey and fled.

Robb’s Grey Wind was killed at the Red Wedding.

Rickon’s Shaggydog was killed when the Umbers turned Rickon over to the Boltons.

For such portentous omens in the very first episode, the direwolves have played a remarkably insignificant part in the plot. They have occasionally rescued their masters or helped them in battle but really haven’t done very much.

Somebody’s been

reading the leaked “season 8” scripts

They’ve had subtle but significant parts in some events:

Lady/Nymeria marked a break between Sansa and Arya after Nymeria attacked Joeffry

Grey Wind defeats GreatJon’s challenge to Robb in a way that allows both sides to save face

Ghost (probably) saves the life of the Lord Commander

True, but none of these is really essential to the plot. They are relatively minor events that could have been eliminated with no real loss to the story. The direwolves have been window dressing more than anything else.

The Starks have spent several seasons as window dressing. Basically from the Red Wedding onto the Battle of the Bastards.

I watched the Preston review of ep 7 and i realized…maybe one just has to not think so hard when watching GoT cause i admit it has kind of become a mess when you think about it. I’m just gonna turn my brain off next season.

Next season, I predict that Theon shows up at the Iron Isles to rescue his sister and finds out that Euron isn’t there, that he’s gone to pick up the mercenaries. Yadda Yadda Yadda and Yara ends up uniting them to fight against the white walkers.

I really wish they’d ditch the “Three eyed raven” nonsense and give more time to… pretty much anything else. Having said that, I’ve never been keen on Brandon as a character so that might have a lot to do with it.

Also, I’ve been extremely disappointed by the lack of nudity, brothels, and gratuitous sex in this series. :stuck_out_tongue:
