Game of Thrones: omnibus discussion thread based on knowledge of books (OPEN SPOILERS)

It’s a shame that hilarious post will be deleted. I love how the spammer actually discussed the topic.

What we do know New York Escort Directory is that the three New York Asian Escort Directory biggest badasses on the kingsguard were not with Rhaegar at the battle, they were not with the king at the castle New York Oriental Escort and they were not with New York Escorts viserys and daenerys. They stayed at the tower, something they would not have willingly done unless THEY felt it was the most important place to be. Guarding Rhaegers kidnap/rape victim does not strike me as good enough reason, guarding his true love who is about to give birth to his heir does.

Help me clear up the situation regarding Jeyne Westerling and her mother. Are we to believe that her mother had some deal worked out *all along *with Tywin Lannister and that she was giving Jeyne moon tea while Robb was trying to produce an heir? Jeyne mentions drinking some fertility drink that her mother prepares for her every morning.

What’d he say?

I believe that’s the impression we’re meant to have. Tywin was playing both sides, using the Westerlings to break up Robb’s marriage pact to the Freys, and then using that to get Walder Frey on his side.

However, I’ve read some speculation that the mother may be playing a deeper game. She did not know of (or at least claimed not to know) the Frey part of the plot, so I’m not sure what she thought she could have offered the Lannisters that would have gotten her off the hook for betraying them. Just saying that, ‘hey, I was on your side all a long, just pretending to side with the enemy’ doesn’t seem like it’s going to be enough for someone like Tywin.

Plus, it’s hinted that Jeyne’s grandmother is Maggy the frog, so the Westerlings may have a bigger part to play in the story. One theory that I don’t really buy is that the mother is just lying and that Jeyne actually is carrying Robb’s heir. Doesn’t seem too likely to me but you never know.

Yes, but it’s more complex than that. Her mother’s mother is from Asshai, just like Mellisandre and the dragon eggs. There’s a much deeper game being played here.

He commented that he thought it was funny that Cer and Cat were of similar age in the books but Cat appears much older in the show. And then he spammed Asian porn, I think.

It was just a bot. It cut-and-pasted the text from one of Hazelnuts earlier posts, and stuck in some links for porn.

:frowning: I am disappoint.

By Cat’s Tyrion logic, we should immediately have Hazelnuts’s account banned for being an asian porn spambot!

Dare I say it? Band name!

Some more questions:

  • Is Westeros an island or a peninsula? Do we (or they) even know?

  • How was the Wall built, anyway? Was magic involved? Seems too gargantuan to have been done otherwise, given the tech of the day.

  • Why patrol north of the Wall at all? Who cares what the wildlings do amongst themselves? Is it from the mindset that the best defense is a strong offense, keeping the wildlings from getting their act together and attacking en masse?

It’s a continent. Someone posted a link to a great map earlier in the thread. The damn thing’s as long north to south as the US from Manhattan to LA!

We’re never actually told that. It was built by the same Brandon the Builder that Old Nan was telling stories about this past episode (I assume. That’s if the series follows the books right there.)

That and they have to clear the no-man’s-land…the NW isn’t supposed to let the forest grow within half a mile of the Wall so they have a clear field of view to catch anyone (or any army) sneaking up on it.

First one is available in maps. Its a continent, not an island. I wouldn’t be surprised if during a really bad winter, someone could walk from continent to continent by walking on ice.

Number two is a non-tv spoiler that we aren’t allowed to talk about, even though its pretty unimportant.

As for number three, I think its more actual patrolling - they are watching for all the scary supernatural stuff out there. The wildlings are like any other people - get enough of then pissee off and working together, they’re a threat. The white walkers, though, as Old Nan told Bran this week were a THREAT.

Oops.Wrong thread.

Wall was raised by magic.

This is driving me nuts - I just hit the place in my re-read of the first book where Robert is dying, Ned has his seal to be Protector, and he’s deciding what to do.

WHY doesn’t he tell Renly??

He was going to tell Robert, and now Robert is dying. He altered his Protector letter to say “heir” instead of “my son, Joffrey,” so that he has the legal right to chuck the kid. Renly is IN the room with him when Robert takes the milk of the poppy and falls unconscious. Why not tell him?

Or why not tell him when Renly comes to him and promises 100 swords and to take the Lannister kids into custody?

Why does he sneak around? He gave Cercei PLENTY of time to flee if she was going to. It was obvious at that point that he’d have to mount some sort of offensive and have a plan if he was going to prevent Joffrey being on the throne. He writes to Stannis, why not tell Renly? He’s a legitimate member of the king’s family and he’s offering his help. In fact, why not convene the entire small council and lay it out openly?

It seems so bloody out of character that Ned becomes sneaky with all this, when he didn’t even have the sense not to tell CERCEI that he knew. :-/

Does it say that in the books, or is that an interview tidbit? In one of Jon’s sections on the Wall, they talk about how the NW used to go north to the frozen lakes, chip out giant blocks of stone and winch them up to make the Wall taller.

The Starks’ stubborn pride and sense of honor is their greatest weakness. It’s such a weakness that it’s not even admirable, it just gets them killed.

Lawful Stupid. Although we’ve had that discussion before…

My problem is that he tells Littlefinger. Clearly he’s got no issue telling Baelish - why the hell doesn’t he tell Renly? Especially when Renly is literally offering him support?

Would that have changed anything? Renly sees the situation correctly. He knows Cersei will make her move if they do not. Whether it’s right to make a move is immaterial; he knows the Lannisters are playing for keeps. Eddard just refuses to see it.
