I agree it’s disappointing, but it sort of understandable that they skipped it at this point since it won’t matter for another 4-5 seasons at least, if ever.
Though I suppose they might be able to work it into Dany’s visions in the Palace of Dust.
Well, they’d also need to find actors to play teenaged Ned & teenaged Jaime…
That shouldn’t be TOO hard. The casting has been, almost without exception, excellent.
I’m only now reading through these threads and it looks like it’s well past a dead horse at this point, but the spoiler-free threads have made me cringe on a pretty regular basis as people have dropped spoilers, or corrected misinterpretations, or confirmed particular interpretations. It’s pretty jerkish, in my opinion, to participate in the thread and make it obvious that you know what’s coming if you’re going to talk about character motivations and “possibilities” and make “predictions” for the future along with the people who don’t know what’s coming. A few times there’s been a spoiled person “disagreeing” with an unspoiled person’s take on a particular event, which, come on!
If I hadn’t already read the books, I’d definitely be avoiding those discussion threads by now, and I think that’s a shame. There are certain conversations people who already know should just be avoiding entirely. In my opinion.
Yes, it’s important to protect The Unsullied. (As they are called at TwoP.)
Heheh.

THUD.
There has been such a lack of visions and flashbacks that I’ll bet we don’t see them. I’m guessing that we’ll only ever seen Bran’s - if nothing else to make him more of a special character. Having visions isn’t worth much if everyone can do it.

I seem to recall a lot of horses dying north of the Wall when a large group of the Night Watch goes ranging, but I think that comes later than AGOT.
That should be years away so i think i’m safe.
Bronn wins his duel with Ser Balman by putting his lance through the horse. But that’s not any time soon either.
I see that specific being small enough and having unimportant fiddly details enough to get changed.
So, at this point who are our favorite second-string characters on the show?
Mine would be…
Bronn - Everything the guy says is gold, plus he’s a certified badass
Varys - Probably the most perfect acting I have seen so far - so sincere, so concerned, so unconvincing
Lewin - Small part, but everything he says and does is just perfect
-Joe
I love it!
Was anyone else bothered by Shae’s character change? They made her into a totally different person - I found it really jarring.
I was just put off by her looks. While she’s oddly not unattractive, she is definitely no foreign beauty.
-Joe
What part of her?
She certainly doesn’t seem like the type to say “My Giant of Lannister” with a straight face.
Sibel Kekilli is definitely a foreign beauty, IMHO.
Shae’s whole thing in the series is her apparent “innocence” and her worship of Tyrion. She was pretty young in the book, and while she was witty she also came across as rather immature. That was part of her charm, and the reason why Tyrion liked her so much. Her naivete was so convincing that even Tyrion half-believed that she was truly in love with him (even though he kept trying to remind himself that she was just a whore).
The Shae on the show seems far too worldly and cynical. And old.
And off-screen, even in the books. It’s reported by Balman’s widow.
With an, um, interesting career: http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,1118125,00.html
I have a question about the drunken scene with Tyrion and Shae and Bronn, and his marriage story:
In the book, Tyrion’s father has Tyrion take Shae after Tywin’s guards have all had their turn. Was this final tidbit not in the show, or did I just miss it?
