Gays admit they recruit?

If gays want to recruit, I guess that’s OK. Thank the Lord they can’t draft…

Good point. I would’ve never thought of it that way.

BTW, note that Bro Limbaugh used what we call “weasel wording”. He said: some of them virtually admit they do. Virtually? If he’s so sure, why hedge?

I would imagine (sorry no cite to back it up) that there are elements within the gay community that do try to convince people that they are really gay, or that certain “feelings” an on the fence person is having means that they are gay.

People are naturally inclined to try to convert people to their own viewpoint, be it religion, politics, morality, what food to eat or any other myriad things - why should homoseuality be any different?

I know that being gay is not a choice, but having said this, I also believe the mind is a very powerful thing. Sexuality or attractiveness is not universal, (i.e different cultures find different things erotic) so why shouldn’t there be an **element ** of choice in homosexuality? And before you pit me, said choice may, or may not be conscious. This doesn’t matter to the arguement.

In short - do gays recruit - most certainly, is it done by all, or an organised movement - most certainly not.

Yes, unlike elements in the straight community that do try to convince gay people that they are really straight, or that certain “feelings” an on the fence person is having means htat they are straight.

That’s not “recruitment.”

No, that’s a Mom in denial.

:d

Hey. Those crazy gay recruiters disabiled smilies in my post!

The Agenda advances!

Between my Jewish conspiracy newsblog and those gay recruitment pop-ups, it’s a wonder I have time for SDMB at all!

I’d imagine if I were gay and I saw an attractive person of my gender and then discovered they were straight, I might try to recruit them - at least for that night.

They’re quite diabolical

Another sailing trip to Sodom!

The thing is, you see if they’re interested. Exactly the same as if you were straight and saw an attractive person of the other gender. You might even try to convince them to give it a try. But “recruit” is not an accurate characterization.

You mean that recruiter I met wasn’t really speaking for all gays? He even said he could guarantee my choice of position!

I’d like to apply to become a homosexual. What’s the pay like?

I’ve never heard anyone say someone tried to recruit them. (Would only the religious be so discrete.)

And no one has ever tried to recruit me. :frowning:

(I’ll go back to the thread for people no one wants to know better now.)

Either that, or people are still giving credence to the drivel that spilled (spills? dunno if the old hag is still alive) from the lips of Anita Bryant.

Or, just maybe, he’s full of shit. I’d be willing to go with any or all of these.

The authoritative final word on homosexual recruitment, from a straight man that dresses so much like a homosexual that he was once featured on “God Hates Fags .com”:

Recruit is a very tricky word.

I believe there’s a subset of gay men that are turned on at the thought of doing a straight guy. (And for all I know, this applies to gay women doing a straight woman, too). I base this statement on the numerous ads on Craigslist that specifically invite straight men, and only straight men, to experience various oral delights.

Of course, you’re a guy and the idea of getting anonymous head from another guy is intriguing, then perhaps you’re already not 100% straight. So even then, there’s a certain predisposition.

But in the same way… the Army recruits, yes? I mean, who can deny that – the have guys called recruiters, after all. And those guys are in charge of getting people to join the army. Even if the idea of joining the Army already intrigues you, if you call and talk to a recruiter and he signs you up, then you’ve “been recruited.”

So if we picture a guy who has been intrigued at the idea of getting blown by a guy, who one day sees a Craigslist ad offering anonymous head to straight guys, and who shows up and unzips and is… er… blown away by how great the experience was and thereafter exclusively devotes himself to manflesh… is not really unfair to say he was, in a sense, “recruited?”

I’d say “solicited” is more appropriate for the situation you describe Bricker. “Recruit” implies a more organized and broader-based effort to bring significant numbers into the fold. When we’re talking about individuals, there no accounting for peversion.

You all really don’t need to worry about the recruiters…its gay boot camp you should fear!!! Although if you’re lucky, we’ll let you in the fabulous forces, that’s so much better then the special ones.
