What? Gays can come too! We’ll need some fabulousness!
Three Days of Love and Music…
I’m liking this idea!
Okay, just a preliminary count.
From the postings I count 8 of us as saying the 23rd is okay.
There are 3 “maybes” for that date, and one for the 9th of August.
I’m headed for Destin for the weekend, so I probably won’t be able to check in until I get back late Sunday night, but as stated before I’d like to nail down the date on Monday, so that we can start working on where we want to meet Saturday night, and where we want to have our little Three Days of Love and Music jam session on Sunday afternoon.
I’m headed off to work, but I can check in here from my work PC, so I’m available till in the morning at 10 am to answer either here or by e-mail.
Here’s a question to think about: Does anyone have any problems with the Dave and Buster’s in Duluth as opposed to the one on I-75? We wanna work this out to everyone’s convenience, but since mouthbreather has issued an invitation to his casa afterward, I thought we all might consider that location.
But… we’re still on the date portion of the program, so we need ideas, okay?
Also remember, I’m just the guy with the idea, and I’ve never done this before, and could use any help y’all can offer.
Thanks

OK. just give me a ball park idea here. I’ll be in the Norcross/Peachtree corners area. How far is that from the action. Is it gonna be like 100 miles in the opposite direction of everything?
JD, thats 10-15 mins away (tops) if we go with the Duluth plan.
Alriiight. This is looking better and better all the time!!
I will try to get our corporate office to firm up my travel plans once the date is for sure on Monday.
Duluth’ll probably be fine. I don’t know my way around there, but I don’t know my way around anyplace. With a map and Mapquest and my cellphone, I can find my way around, though.
mouthbreather, you and I must be practically neighbors. The Duluth Dave and Busters is really close to me too. I don’t mind driving to another location, but if the Duluth location works out, that would be peachy!
I might be good for the 23rd Quasi. Dave in Busters in Marietta would be great for me. I’ve never been to the one in Duluth though. I’ll play it by ear.
If you’re still taking requests, I know you like Johnny Cash so I’m requesting ‘One Pice at a Time’ (the psychodelic Cadilac song).
We better take requests or we won’t have anything to play. Shame we don’t have some practice space or something to get really loud.
I says to myself “Hey, quit complaining and suggest stuff.” So here we go!
Rummaging through my music catalog here. Any of you guys ever heard of O.A.R.? They’ve got a couple really nice songs that’d be great with a bunch of acoustic guitars, pretty much jam band kinda stuff. Try “Night Shift” and “City on Down.”
Some Barenaked Ladies would be fun. “Brian Wilson”, “The Old Apartment”, pretty much anything they play would be fun.
“Patience” by Guns N Roses.
“Save Tonight” by Eagle Eye Cherry
“Fireworks” by the Tragically Hip
How bout “Turn the Page”, either Bob Seger or Metallica.
STAIRWAY! Heh, sorry.
But some Zep might not be a bad idea. I’d like to toss out “Goin’ to California,” “Gallows Pole,” and “Hey Hey What Can I Do” as ideas.
“Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka? I have one by a band alleged to be The Ataris. Just weird enough to work!
Drive em nuts with 80s songs? I think 867-5309 could be acoustified.
“The Last Saskatchewan Pirate” by Captain Tractor. Pirate songs rock.
“Behind The Wall of Sleep” by The Smithereens. Dunno if it’d be cool or not. But I love the song anyway.
I could be totally oboxious and dig into my KISS Unplugged…but nah…
Looks like there might be a “generation chasm” between GMR and Quas’!
Fredge: I hope you can make it. It’s a shame we live in the same town and have never met. I’ll see what I can do about your request, but I can’t make any promises. Maybe one of the other pickers can do it better than I could.
I did a Mapquest check and Duluth is only about a 48 minute drive for me, if that’s he way we choose to go.

Howz about some Merle Haggard?
Sing Me Back Home
Howz about some Alan Jackson ?
Here In The Real World
Here is a GREAT place to get Chords, Lyrics and Tabs
Look Under - Cowpie, Lyrics and Chords
They have everything…
ahem
That should be a 48 mile drive.

nuthin, I wanna thank you for posting that website! It’s an excellent source, and I’ll be printing out a few songs off it, including your Alan Jackson tune.
Thanks!

Man, if I’m going to get stuck listenin’ to country, I’ll hafta bring some earplugs…
Since I haven’t been playing guitar very long, I tend to stay with the simple stuff, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Beatles, some old rock tunes, some folk and some country. Sorry, that’s all I got in my reper-twaa. And I play rhythm and I’m just learning bass.
So if I gave the impression that I’m a guitar god, I sure didn’t mean to.
Some of the songs you mention in your post are familiar to me, GMR, but most are not, sorry.
Q
Quasi, I have the same problem as you – don’t know the songs! But maybe I can follow the chords.
Alternately, this might be a good chance to expand my musical experiences!
I just remember DragonCon is in the summer. Checking their site, it runs Aug 29-Sept 1.
In years past, a good number of out-of-town dopers have come to ATL for DragonCon. Is there any interest in setting a dopefest date to correspond?
Hey, works for me, better we figure this stuff out now and get all embarassed later. I’ll be the only one embarassed when I have to belt out Johnny Cash.
