Georgia and (Honorary GA) Dopers: The Dopefest Thread

A Doper Pajama Party? How original!

Where is Dave and Buster’s, Quasi?

Star Time is a movie theater/arcade/go kart track/mini-golf place just off Roswell Road. It’s kinda cool, but the games tend to be pricey and the crowd seems to be pretty teenaged.

I-75 at Delk Road, GMR. There’s also one in Duluth. If y’all think it would be a good idea, I can e-mail D&B for some info. Last time I was there, they had some tables pulled together and it looked like there was a party for about 20 people going on.

If there are any other suggestions, post 'em, okay?

Q

FWIW, the D&B’s in Duluth is ridiculously close to where we live. We could have some folks gather at chez gootibreather that evening after D&Bs.

Just an option I’ll throw out there.

I need to add that we have 2 dogs. They love everyone – but if folks are not dog friendly, we may want to shitcan the idea.

mouthbreather: That sounds fine to me. Can you e-mail me some Hotels/Motels that are near that D&B location, just in case we decide on Duluth?

Thanks

Q

will do, look for an email later today.

Not at all. It’s just that, having lived in the South for all of my life, I’m pretty Lynyrd-Skynyrd-ed out.

I’ll say that, along with mouthbreather, I live a whole bunch closer to the Duluth D&B.

That’s very flattering, but I’m really not that kind of vegetable.

I need to add, there will be no FREEBIRD in my house.
[sub]Unless there’s wheelbarrows full of whiskey as a precursor. :o [/sub]

The accoustic guitar set will be at another place and time (yet to be determined), so those of you who aren’t into jamming or listening will have a choice of whether you want to be there or not.

For the record, I’m not much of a Skynyrd fan either, but I do like the song.

Carrot I wasn’t suggesting anything illicit, which is why I added the bar comment in a follow-up post. Okay?

Q

Aw, heck, I was just suggesting “Freebird” so if any of you wiseasses yelled “Freebird!” we could launch right into it.

Music-guys: We need to figure out where we’re jamming, how long a set we plan to do, songs, etc.

GMR: Hang tight, buddy. We’ll get it all sorted out. I did think of one more tune: You Never Even Called Me By My Name.

Q

Written by Steve Goodman, Chicago native. Man, if I thought for 10 seconds I could get my guitar to Atlanta with me, I would be all over that!!!

Perhaps it should be The International Dope Get Together and Jamfest: Three Days of Love and Music.

Perhaps you should insert a “Straight” in there. Otherwise, you’re likely to attract some…um…other Dope fiends.

You can borrow one of mine!

Q

I have a feeling that if this proposed SC DopeFest falls through, you guys might be hosting some South Carolinians as well.

If the GA DopeFest was another weekend, I’d go ahead and sign myself up, as well as possibly Catalyst and the skeptic. We’ll see if the SC DopeFest works out. If it does, it’ll probably be in Columbia, and I’m sure GA Dopers would be welcome, especially if they missed out on the rocking party that this is shaping up to be!

SFT, we’d love to have y’all! But I understand about the dates

Q

Have you guys been to WILDBILLS in Duluth yet???

I LOVE that place…!!!
It’s the biggest country dance club in the U.S.
THE DANCE FLOOR IS HUUUUUUGE
The band is outstanding.
The first night we went my jaw just about hit the floor…

Of course they play a mixture of music, not only country…

They also have great seperate talking/quiet areas to converse in too… Billiards room and they serve food…
Very nice place…
Did I mention the red carpet???
BTW I’m in Lawrenceville…,
