Hi, all. LOOOOOONG time lurker, first time poster here. Autolycus I’d just like to say that I think you’re an articulate and entertaining part of the boards. You’re posts have been the ones to make me laugh the hardest in the time I’ve been reading. (About three years.) The only regret I have about your buttsex post is that I am only a guest, and won’t be able to most my stories here (which can rival yours any day), to stand united against the naysayers who just don’t “get it.” Basically, thanx for the great reads. high five

I have nothing else to say, positive or negative. This type of shit is just soul-sucking. There were a few things i might have said, but they would have done no good whatsoever (copy and paste this part for maximum rebuttal points).
I had a few thoughts that were, in retrospect, not helpful and only served for me to vent. I also had a few that would have only served as a target for mocking, pathetic appeals for reason.
Are threads like this an evolution for this board? I fucking hope not. Every single aspect of this thread is sad.
Two posters made up. Apologies were made. Several posters took a middle ground and may or may not have helped smooth things over. It had its ugly parts, but there was some good in it.
And it does seem an evolution for the board. A disturbing one for me. Reminds me of a school yard where the smart alecs in the group get their jollies encouraging the mentally challenged kids to make fools of themselves, while the teachers all look the other way.
After all, who’s getting hurt? The damaged kid is a willing participant and the smart alecs seem to be having fun, where’s the harm?
I see your point, and I certainly don’t have to read this crap but it makes me feel that the board is transforming to something I maybe don’t want to be a part of any longer.

This thread was a good corrective, catharsis, and venue for reconciliation. I really don’t see where you and elbows are coming from, unless you only read the first page.

This is at least the second post this week where the complaints are so vague but the sentiment seems to be that “we long for the old days of the Pit.” Could you please clarify what those were? And how this thread has changed that so substantially?
We all make these boards what they are with our participation. If you don’t like how the boards are going, you are partly to blame for that if you are an active participant. If you aren’t, I don’t see how you have a leg to stand on to complain.
It’s a new low, and it’s been admired for being so, repeatedly, in this thread.
The behaviour of the poster in question has been encouraged by many people and is, if you can believe what has been written here, going to be emulated by others who thinks its funny and amusing.
“Tell us the one about the whore in the alley”, I think the people who have encouraged him to share more because they are finding it amusing, are even sadder than Autolycus. And boyo that’s really saying something.
I really hope it turns out I am wrong but I just sense that a tide has turned here and we’re in for lots more of the same. Ewww!
YMMV, of course, everyone has their very own level of disfunctionality that they can tolerate before it totally creeps them out.
But y’know, when there’s a fire there’s always a couple of people who smells the smoke first. I understand we’re not all the same, some people have to wait until they see the flames before they get it.
OK, you didn’t read the thread. This has been addressed, by me and others, at length and in detail with Autolycus. He says he understands the POV you have (belated) expressed here. Whether this has led to a meaningful change for him I don’t know, but it’s valid at all to say no one is being honest with the OP, nor that everyone is just laughing at the guy.
I haven’t read the thread in question, though I am on record as saying that encouraging him to act like an ass is not OK. So you’re not a voice crying out in the wilderness here.
Got news for ya, kid-- lots of people smelled the fire before you showed up. The fire department has been called. But in this case, the fire has to WANT to go out.
