Someone mentioned the lack of media coverage of this event, but K6 never stated definitively that there was media coverage, just that the principal was concerned about the possibility.
I just gotta say that this was a really, really good story. Unlike Skewbald’s story about the pajama-pants-wearing girl, which was too nauseatingly perfect to be plausible, K6’s story appears to have been carefully researched and plotted out. So there was continuity within the Kaitlyn story. Shame that K6 didn’t think about the discrepancies among Number Six’s posts, and between the Number Six and Kaitlyn posts.
I wonder about that. Look at the UPS story and the convention story. The emotions described in those stories come through so vividly, they have to have been experienced by someone. Maybe not those exact events, but the gist of the stories—despair over not being able to perform a previously inconsequential task; feeling menaced and panicking in what should have been an innocuous situation—could have been the same. And the emotional impact on the storyteller can’t have been invented. I googled several key phrases and came up with nothing, but K6 could have gotten them from a book or from someone he knows.

Depending on the seriousness of the claimed contraditions (is s/he alleging to be a doctor, for example) I’m going to suggest that you take Arnold Winkelried’s sensible suggestion and drop an email to the mods. If nothing else, your subsequent non-banning will put to rest any concerns people might have raised in this thread about the integrity of the site administration.
I don’t know why everybody is after CoP and his anonymous users. Everything posted panned out. Knowing who dropped the dime would only give you a target for your anger at being had in a masterful way. Even now some of you are defending a first-class liar. What you would do to the whistleblower, given how much you people obviously invested in this person, would be pretty ugly.
Anonymous or non-anonymous, it doesn’t matter. A wrong has been righted with evidence on the public record. Good on them for doing so. All a name is good for is to give me someone to thank and congratulate.
Huh? Why would people direct their anger at someone other than Number Six/Kaitlyn? I mean, are you expecting a barrage of “You bastard, how dare you expose this liar?” posts? I don’t see that – I do see a lot of anger at Six/lyn, and some amount of annoyance at the use of a sock, but little or no anger directed at the person behind the sock. Maybe I’m not seeing it because I’m not invested in the debate… or am I being whooshed and that was totally tongue-in-cheek?
It’s a shame about Kaitlyn misleading so many folks, but one benefit is that i got steered to the thread containing Beryl Mooncalf’s meltdown. If memory serves, it’s the greatest thread I’ve ever seen.

Even a well-intentioned whistleblower gets slapped around by the people who were had because he/she was the one that ruined their sacred cow. And make no mistake, our heroic Kaitlyn was virtually untouchable- what bravery she had, how hard her life was, and how insightful she was :rolleyes:. When it came out that it was all garbage some of the anger was inevitably going to be aimed at the whistleblower. It happens all the time.
I don’t know about ‘defending’ Kaitlyn, but I thought the stories about Mr. P (the school Principal) dealing with bigotry was masterful. As a teacher, I think this was a textbook example of how to support your staff and was well worth publishing (fiction or not).
I also don’t understand your allegations about my ‘doing something ugly’ to CoP. What did you have in mind? Calling an anonymous poster names in the Pit?
Just for interest, if CoP turns out to be Kaitlyn, will you be thanking and congratulating her?

I can’t speak for anyone else, but that has absolutely nothing to do with me calling whoever it is a chickenshit. Why would I thrash the accuser? I would have congratulated the accuser, had the accuser simply posted as themselves. Posting search results on Live Journal anonymously and then hoping one of those guttersnipes over there would do the dirty work doesn’t strike you as a chickenshit thing to do? IMO, YMMV and all that.
I don’t think anyone is trashing pineapples because he/she outed Kaitlyn, Airman. I don’t think anyone here is too thrilled with Kaitlyn/NumberSix, to put it mildly. We’re just saying that the person who did out Kaitlyn did so in a cowardly way, and most likely did it for the satisfaction of seeing the shit hit the fan-not because they were upset about Kaitlyn being a fucking fraud.
Personally, I Kaitlyn/NumberSix as moronic shithead who made up some shit just for attention.

'Scuse the newbie question, but did MrsSix (or whatever Kaitlyn called her wife, I thought it was MrsSix) even post? I just noticed Kaitlyn mentioning her a lot, but I don’t recall seeing any posts by someone by this usename.
K6 is banned so this thread will be closed. No matter the behavior that prompted her banning, she can’t respond anymore. This was one ugly situation but fair’s fair: it’s no less or more than how other banees have been treated.
FWIW, Little Nemo started a thread about some of the issues underlying this situation. Folks who still have some lingering ambiguities or concerns to thrash out can do it there. As tempting as it is, please don’t bash K6 there.
