Getting to work on time - a commuting MMP

Blurf. Up, Chexed, heading to the school for good internet, where we’ll eat our Farm Fresh sandwiches and drink gin’jale for lunch. Dinner will be shrimp Alfredo.

Beautiful fall foliage between here and the school!

Get back to work! <whipcrack>

Moooom! We’ve missed you

I dreamt about being surrounded by tornadoes. This is a recurring dream that I used to have. Take care all y’all who have apocalypse weather in the forecast today!

I am tired. Hobbled around and picked things up for the house cleaners. Now I shall recline and watch the cats chase dust in the sun beams.

I’ve had recurring dreams about tornadoes and fire, too. In the former case, well-justified: I used to live in Indiana.

I remember, during the brief period I was an assistant manager at Blockbuster (in Virginia), I got a call from ekemom saying there was a tornado warning in effect. I promptly locked the entrance, finished with the customers remaining in the store, and then locked the exit, stashing myself and the CSR into the break room until the warning passed. I left a sign on the door saying “Tornado warning: Store temporarily closed”.

When my store manager found out that I’d closed the store without his approval, he was kinda mad. Which surprised me, since we were both originally from Indiana. I told him, “Boss, you should know as well as me that you don’t screw around with tornadoes. The first rule of the store is safety.” I even pulled out the employee handbook and found the section on natural disasters. He backed down.

flipper, what part of Indiana are you from? You make the third native Hoosier Mumper.

One of my cow-irkers is out today, so I’m handling one of his areas. So far, things are coming together with it, considering it’s been six months since I’ve done it.

red, I’m originally from Indianapolis. Now residing in Suffolk, Virginia, though. Been living in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia (and getting progressively farther from the beach) for the last 11 years.

Had a foot-long roast beef sandwich from Farm Fresh for lunch. Also bought an A&W root beer bottle for both myself and ekemom; mine is about half-empty now. (Or half-full?)

Got a little RPing in before my RP partner poofed; just relaxing now and reading DS9 screenplays.

Howdy Y’all! Irk has been survived. So far no nasty weather but ‘tis on the way definitely. Big line of storms comin’ in from Alabammy. Salmon patties, smashed N.O.T., English peas and bizkits for dindin. I need me some southern comfort food plus this is one of OYKW’s favorite meals. Have I mentioned he’s kinda spoiled?

Home!!! YAY!!

I convinced the engineer I’m doing drawings for to do his installation drawing correctly. He’s going to make one the structural installations, and the other will be equipment installation. That will make my life much easier. So yay! Of course, that leaves me with nothing to do till he gets done, so I’ll be hitting up the boss tomorrow for more work.

Way cloudy out - rain is definitely on the way. But I won’t have to worry about it till I go to work in the morning. I’ve got some shrimps thawing for my supper (I had 4 pounds of the stuff in the freezer - I kinda lost track of my stash and kept buying more.) I think I’ll sauté the shrimpies and rummage around for some sides. I think I’ll need to make more cocktail sauce, tho.

Still no desserts in the house, alas…

My spousal unit and his entire fambly were all born in Indianapolis, but the immediate clan hasn’t lived there in over 40 years when work took his dad to Detroit. From there, they went to Jacksonville, and that’s were we met. I never lived in Indy, but I did go to school in West Lafayette at the main Purdue campus. I was there for three of the worst winters in a row. Not a lot of fond memories of Indiana… :stuck_out_tongue:

And those winters would be 1977-79, Moooom? :stuck_out_tongue:

I grew up in the scenic downtown metropolis of Silver Lake (between Warsaw and Wabash) and bobbio is from about 35 miles north of that in Goshen.

Part of the reason ekemom insisted we move here is because she couldn’t stand another Indiana winter. (Indiana summers are hardly pleasant, either).

Another reason was to live closer to family, but since Nee-Nee, Pop-Pop and Uncle Cliff passed (they lived in Pennsylvania), and we became estranged from Grandpa (who lives in Virginia Beach), that reason is no longer relevant.

Other stuff:

My RP character, a vulpine named Callie, runs a restaurant, and I’m having her make a new acquaintance, a dark elf character named Valerica. Of course, she brought up her astonishment that Callie has five tails.

Here in the library, there’s a man sitting at one of the community computers. He’s so computer-illiterate that he had to be shown where the Caps Lock key was and its function, and every hour or so he asks what the time is, even though it’s right there in front of him. I guess I’ve been spoiled by having a computer most of my life.

Napped. Awake. Hungry. Foraging.

Foraging complete. Hunger abated. Sleep to resume.

**Red **- you guessed it! I graduated Dec 1979, so that ended my dealings with nasty winters… until they hit here in MD. Tho we never had -80° windchills here.

Well, I’m tired of computering. I’m going to veg in front of TV till bedtime.

MWAH!!

Been a busy day. Lots of laundry done.
The furnace man comes tomorrow, different one. I’m looking to get a new one. This one will cost $900 to fix and the guy told me it’s almost twice as much furnace as I need. So the new one will be cheaper to operate. I wonder if my furnace was used to heat both sides of this house at one time.

Sah-son got A’s on all his tests/papers. He was a little worried about some of them.
Finally, his art professor posted the grades for the last nine weeks. He got all A’s, even on the assignments he couldn’t complete because his slacker classmates didn’t pull their share of the load. For real, why even take a class if you’re not going to do the assignments?

Last load getting ready to go into the washer. Then I am done, except for drying the last two and putting all of it away.

We supped and are now in chill mode. OYKW is preparin’ for a soak in the tub and here I am postin’ away. ‘Tis rainy so I made the executive decision to keep my bohunkus in for the evenin’.

In more excitatin’ news, my new coffee maker was delivered today! YAY!!! Old coffee maker was breathin’ its last, poor thing. It was a good one in that it was a basic coffee maker that served well for ten years. New coffee maker is also a basic coffee maker. I don’t do the frou frou fancy schmansy coffee thing. What I want in the mornin’ is a hot strong cup o’ joe or three. OYKW is the same way.

OK, on to see what else is up on teh intartoobz.

Laterz!

Yay Sari son. That is excellent.

Home early today. Tried to nap but no luck there. I have a giant pot of beef stew cooking. Just have to add the taters in a while. Smelling good. Hubs is cooking up a bunch of stone crabs.

Congrats to sah-son!

Heading out of the school library in a few minutes; will return home and cook shrimp Alfredo for dinner, and watch Wheeljep. Today is the third and last semifinal match of the Tournament of Champions.

swampy, my daily driver of a coffee maker is a simple 4 cup model drip pot. I only have to buy a new one when I break the carafe. :smack: The campfire pot is just an old stovetop percolter I bought at a yard sale years ago. The espresso pot is also a stovetop model and the mini French presses fit right over the top of the cup.

If’n that ain’t enough caffeine, I have multiple ways to brew tea too.

The rain has moved in big time. Glad I’m all snug in da cave.

sari forgot to say earlier, but conga rats to sah-son on his grades!
