Corrections to the above, including updates on the size of your posse, and victuals being brought will be garnered from the thread, but if something is missed, holler.

For those who need directions, worry not. The directions page from last year will be posted when we draw closer to the event, and for anyone who would like to purchase something nearby, there are two markets available-one a few blocks, and another a few miles away.

My cell phone number will be provided to anyone who emails to request same: danceswithcats@att.net

Anyone who plans on staying over should make haste to book a room. Email the above addy if you’d like help with that-distance from event, and other good stuff.

I think you better scratch me from the list. I’m doing way too much driving these days (my base commute is 70 miles a day), plus I’ll have been out of town the previous Friday through Tuesday. I can tell now I’m not going to want to get into the car and drive an additional 5 or 6 hours that Saturday.

Oh well …

I’m sorry to hear that you won’t be there. We’ll miss you.

Robin

What time do the festivities start?
Since it’s been moved back to October, it will be getting dark earlier, and I’m guessing the park closes at dusk.

Oh, danceswithcats?? ::bats eyelashes in what norinew seriously hopes is a cute and flirtatious manner:: Would you please add one more person to the new posse? EtherealFreakOfPinkness is bringing a friend.

Thanks!

There was a sale a couple of weeks ago, and I picked up several packages of Hebrew National hot dogs for Gettysdope. I’ll also take a shot at potato salad.

I’m off to the market tomorrow to purchase supplies. Do we have a head count yet?

D’oh! As Emily Litella used to say, “Nevermind!”

See you all there next weekend!

I just checked the Weather Channel, and it’s supposed to be a balmy 76 degrees. However, they are calling for a 60% chance of rain.

Bring your umbrellas and ponchos, folks. And a sweatshirt, since it’s supposed to go down to 56 overnight.

Robin

NOAA is uncommitted regarding POP. Chili is still good, even if it’s rainy out.

Chili is good, especially when it’s rainy out!

I retract my earlier post. TWC is also being noncommittal about rain, claiming a high of 80 and partly-cloudy skies.

Robin

Awww. We’ll miss you!

It seems nobody’s signed up for burger / hot dog rolls. I’ll get those; how many will we need?

Gettysdope directions

From Phila:
PA turnpike westbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit (was I-17, now I-236), take US-15 south. Take ramp right onto York Street, US-30 west. Follow US-30 into the center of town to a circle. Go halfway around the circle, continuing to follow US-30, street name now Chambersburg Street. Go through the first light, and turn left halfway down the block onto Franklin Street, and proceed south. Franklin Street becomes Long Lane at Breckenridge Street, and the park is to your right. We’re in the Kiwanis pavilion, which is a block past the brick administration building on your right.

From Pittsburgh:
PA turnpike eastbound to Gettysburg Pike US-15 exit. After that, follow above.

From Washington:
I-495 inner loop to I-270 towards Frederick, MD. Follow US-15 north, into PA. Take exit for PA-134/Taneytown Road towards Gettysburg. At the traffic light where PA-134 crosses US-15 Business/Steinwehr Avenue, the name changes to Washington Street. Proceed north two blocks and turn left on Gettys Street, which will dead end at Long Lane. Turn left and then right opposite Queens Street into the parking area.

Park recon: Several ballfields, playground equipment such as swings, slides, and the like for kidlets. Three pavilions, called Kiwanis, Lions, and Firemen’s. The first two are located closest to Long Lane & Queens Street, with the latter a block North at Long Lane & Gettys Street.

For those who wish to purchase foodstuffs locally-there is a Kennies supermarket on Middle Street between West and Franklin Streets, less than ¼ mile away. Those folks using the Philly directions will pass a Giant supermarket on US-30 about a half-mile west of US-15.

If I missed anyone, or if anyone else wants to join in, please add your name.

Since twickster has dropped out, it looks like it’s going to be BYOB as far as beverages go. No liquor allowed in the park, remember.
It looks like we need condiments for the burgers and dogs.

Festivities should be starting around 10:00 a.m; at least that’s when danceswithcats and I will be getting there with the grill.
The park closes at dusk, and it’s getting dark earlier, so our time is limited.

Ha! I can bring soda, juice, and maybe Gatorade or something like that. And another 3-pack of bacon salt, just in case.

What’s the donation towards the pavilion rental?

Our new three pack of Bacon Salt arrived today! We will also be bringing along a case of bottled water too.

I knew I forgot something. MsRobyn paid for it this year, so everyone needs to give her a couple of bucks. I don’t remember the exact rental fee - $35 or $40, I think?

In PA, potato salad shoots back.

Since morgyn is bringing drinks, I guess I’ll bring fruit and veggie trays. I can also pick up condiments.
