Yeah, and my fear is that means “All the episodes we’re ever going to air.”
I think CBS just picked up Ghosts UK as time slot filler during the writer / actor strike. Now that the strike is over, is CBS still broadcasting the show, I wonder? I gave up on ‘appointment TV’ a long time ago.
If they did just abandon the show in the time slot rotation, they could be cool and put all 5 seasons up on Paramount+. Or at least stop lying to us about ‘all seasons now streaming’.
They are not broadcasting it now. I suspect that they acquired broadcast/streaming rights to the original show as part of their deal to adapt it for the US version. Note that before the US version premiered, MAX had the first two or three seasons available for streaming.
I thought it was so blatant it went past cringy to funny. I know I laughed.
Chuck & Community had done placements like that with Subway.
Since network ratings have collapsed, they can’t charge the huge amounts for commercial time they used to. Product placements and other tie-ins are increasingly necessary to keep a show in production long enough to put a package together for syndication.
Product placements don’t bother nearly as much as paying for a subscription to a streaming service, then being charged again to watch a particular program, then getting commercials with it, then only getting a handful of episodes.
Also episode lengths minus commercials continues to shrink. Ghosts (US) 1x01 was 22 min 08 sec. 3x02 was 20 min 56 sec.
This thread peeked my interest in Ghosts.
I’ve started watch season 1 on Paramount+. I’m giving it a chance and hoping that I’ll stay interested.
A couple living in a home with several ghosts is interesting. Each ghost has a unique personality and reacts to situations. I’m curious how they can sustain the stories through 3 seasons.
So far, I’m enjoying the series.
*piqued.
That is all.
As I mentioned, either here or in the Ghosts UK thread, I love both versions but for different reasons. I would like to see Sam’s character be a little less wide eyed / pollyanna. My favorite Sam scenes seem to be when she’s under the ghosts’ influence, i.e. when she’s possessed by Thor. Rose McIver was really funny and it was nice to see the character do something out of Sam’s usual “sweet” self. Ditto the scene where Hetty’s husband causes momentary horniness in anyone he walks through. Sam and Jay are momentarily affected and the exchange between them and Jay’s friend is hilarious. “I could be Carmen Diaz and you two could be a couple of Jude Laws”.
It probably won’t happen this season as RM’s pregnancy will no doubt limit her participation as the months go on.
Same. One reason I love the UK version so much is that it does what all of my favorite foreign movies and TV shows do - it portrays mundane realities of everyday life. Like Button House at one time being used as a community center where 12-step meetings took place. I knew, academically, that Britons cand and do attend 12-step meetings, but I’d never seen such a mundane thing portrayed in film/TV.
Now that you mention it, in tonight’s episode you can see Rose McIver’s midsection starting to expand under the jacket she’s been wearing through the entire show.
I meant to add that it looks like we’ll be seeing Flower in October. Do you think she’ll be back regularly or maybe occasional appearances? She’s not my favorite but I kind of miss her.
Unrelated, Ep 3 has some great moments but I’ll wait to comment until peeps have had time to see it.
If we see her, it will be in 6 days. The Halloween episode you are undoubtedly referring to airs on March 7th.
I liked Disjointed pretty well but thought it seemed more for people who were partaking than not.
Well boo that Flower most probably won’t be in the Halloween episode, and yay that that episode is only 6 days away. Thanks for the link, DGar.
Sasappis’s dream power is an interesting development; I hope it does get forgotten like Alberta being able to speak to Alexa.
Okay, the Halloween episode was a bit Three’s Company, but it was hilarious. And two big twists!
Yes, on both points. It did have that wacky TC vibe but I got a real kick out of it. I wouldn’t mind if Carol sticks around for a while. I love that she died choking on the dreaded donut hole and I predict that she will reconcile with Pete leading to her getting sucked off.
Plus, an answered question has been deanswered.
Does bring up the immediate question: Who got sucked off?
