Gimme a new name!

Well, I’ve been on the SDMB for a little while now, and since I’ve signed on to be a charter member till death (or bankruptcy) do us part, I’ve decided to find myself a real username.

You see, roxx222 means nothing. I needed to fill in the “username” space, so I just typed in something easy to remember. But it’s boring. It has no spice to it. Try saying it out loud. Ugh. Can’t go to dopefests with a name like that!

I’m calling on your imaginations to come up with something interesting for me to use. Something I can keep forever, something that will grow with me, something I can be proud of. A little background on myself may make it easier:

I’m female, a student in medical lab technology, and I hope to get into medical research via a Masters and a PhD and some intense mad-scientist training programs. I’d like a name that reflects science - genetics, immunology, molecular bio, anything like that.

The best one I’ve come up with so far is Virulent Strain. Not bad, but I worry that it makes me come across as a disease instead of the crazy loveable me that I am.

I open the door to your imaginations…

roxxx2222

My knowledge of immunology and microbiology is limited, but I do have an old genetic bio text nearby. Going through its handy-dandy glossary, I found these that seem usernamey to me:

Autosomal Dominant
Chromosomal Inversion
Chromomere
Codon
Electrophoresis
Eukaryote
Homeobox
Intron
Karyotype
Locus
mRNA
Meiosis
Mitosis
mtDNA
Mutagen
Nitrogenous Base
Pluripotent
Reciprocal Translocation
Recombination
Synteny
Telomerase
Xenograft

or of course, you could be one of these old standbys:
Adenine
Guanine
Cytosine
Thymine
Uracil

I’m especially fond of Autosomal Dominant, Chromosomal Inversion, Eukaryote, Nitrogenous Base, Reciprocal Translocation, and Xenograft. Especially Xenograft. Based on your postcard, maybe Crêpe-Maker?

Medicine Chick
rox in sox
Mad_Scientist
Lab_Rat

The Gene Genie

How about the old remembering aid for normal cell division, which is also a play on words:

My Toes Is Normal

Some other plays on words from Bambi’s post:

Cyte Unseen
Seven Year Locus
Sweet Adenine
Uracilly

I suggest Aceso, Iaso, Panacea, Aglaea or Hygieia - the five daughters of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine.

Maybe just Virulent? Or simply Strain? Cell Division?

Unfortunately Infectuous Lass is already taken IIRC, as is Nurse Carmen.

Virula
Vrille
(okay, not really medicine related, that)
**Osmosis
Body Shot
Strong Medicine
**

I suck at this.

What do you think of Antigen?

My friend had a baby and I’m now called “Auntie Jen”. And I get a kick out of that and call the baby my little antibody because she clings onto me… but is it good enough for a SD username??

But I also really like **Mutagen ** (also has that play on “jen”) and Lab Rat

Uracilly!! That’s gold, Chefguy!

You guys are all brilliant! Can I have a dozen usernames? How can I choose?

**Antigen ** is great, assuming it isn’t taken. I still like my suggestions better though. :stuck_out_tongue:

HotTechie

Stat!

How about The Fungus Among Us? Either that or Diseased Monkey.

Toast Museum

StoolPigeon has an air about it.

Well, I don’t think you’re a guy, so Nitrogenous Bass wouldn’t work.

Hmmm… You could be Biobabe, like Geobabe. My mother suggested Lepidoptera. Appendicia? DiaNA? I’m coming up kinda blank for good names right now…

Antigen is perfect!

It’s too bad that someone took Chicken of Bristol but doesn’t post. :frowning:

lieu? Is that yieu?

Another name I use elsewhere is solarbloodcells, so you’re welcome to that if you want a cheesy, pun-ny name.

Or MeNA. If you’re blond, Mitoblondria.

Geez, my names are corny.

Badonkadonk!
