Go-Go Vacation! - A MMP

Did you ever have a bird fly into your car? Not like get smushed by the windshield, but into your car. Today while leaving the shop, I fired up the truck and rolled down the window and a little bird came in and alit on the speedometer. Would have been really cool if he could hang out on the pointer while I was going down the road, I guess, but there’s the whole pointer is behind plexiglass, blah blah. I had to coax it out of the truck with a dustpan and brush, it finally went to a tree. Most words I’ve said today were, “yeah, birds go in trees, not trucks.” Yeah, some days working by myself I don’t speak at all.

Kudos for successfully freeing the bird. Have you heard back from the dog rescue place? I’m sorry if I missed that. :frowning:

{{{wordy and mom}}} Cancer sucketh mightily.

VanGo, your birdy would have startled me. I’ve never had one in my vehicle, but did have a duck fly into the grill of my truck once.

Just spent a couple of hours on the phone with Sis. She’s not coming up in August after all. She says that it’s too hot to travel.

I did get to the dog park with Nelson for a bit this afternoon. The temp was in the mid eighties, so it wasn’t too stinkin’ hot.

Happy Swampy Day!

Made it to the weekend. Nothing much too report. Still hot as blazes so indoors is where I am.

Read all. Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Happy birthday beloved bear!

Sorry I cant reply to everyone, my tablet is hard to use. I have read all and sent grumples or good thoughts as needed.

They screwed up our room which ticked me off, but everything else has been going well. Mom forgot to sign up for volunteer stuff, but seem to be enjoying just hanging out with folks she has been seeing at this sort of thing for decades. I’m concerned she will get lost, she keeps wandering off when I’m distracted.

Going to pick up our dinners, we stopped by the fire station and dropped off our ballots. I said, ‘Hooray! We’re patriots!’

I completely agree with this plan.

:tada::confetti_ball::birthday::cake::cupcake::notes::musical_note: hippo birdies two ewe, swampy:notes::musical_note::birthday::cake::cupcake::confetti_ball::tada:

Need to grab a couple of washers and a couple of clips for the hand truck, but otherwise Project #1 is done.

And now y’all have gotten 100% of your RDA of MMP TMI. YMMV.

It’s been a long time since I had a cat with any interest in human food, but I’ve just discovered that Buddy likes scrambled eggs. He was polite about it, so I shared. Gotta remember to be careful about leaving food he shows an interest in unguarded. Not used to that after almost 11 years with Allie never being at all interested in what I was eating.

Cooking or even just getting something out of the fridge can be a challenge, as close to my feet as he insists on getting.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I need to go over to the church house this mornin’ and deal with candles since I did not yestiddy. After that we shall have quality cee-mint pond time, nappage and general slothage. We shall have an early sup at Sonny’s as somebody has a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for ribs.

Thanks again for all the bday wishes! Y’all are the bestest!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ amongst the great unwashed attire, though there will be no one around but me. However, I could get in an accident and have to go to the emergency room, thus bein’ inappropriate attire would bring shame upon family for generations to come.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

That’s one of the few redeeming things about this trip - we’ll be able to get some food from Sonny’s. We won’t eat in because I absolutely don’t trust Floridians to be plague-free. Take-out is good enough.

Woke at 3 but fell back to sleep till just after 6, because I refused to let my brain go wandering. I’m having leftover pizza for breakfast, and the last of my muffin batter is in the oven. I got 3 dozen from that batch, so I should be able to make at least that much for the inlaws.

When FCD gets up, we’ll don grubbies and conduct mowage. Then we’ll gather household trash and recycling and haul it to the convenience center. Laundry and proper showers shall follow. Then I guess we start packing. I have a list, but I know there are things I forgot to put on it - with luck, having all day to gather our crap, we shouldn’t miss anything, right? Theoretically?

My youngest sis has The Plague. I’m pretty sure it’s because she’s been going out to a couple of her favorite bars. She’s been double shot and double boosted, and she said the symptoms are really mild, so there’s that. I’ve been dealing with a runny/stuffy nose, but that’s courtesy of one snotty little grandson.

Anyway, I’ll also need to run a load in the dishwasher, make sure the cat box is scooped, fill the kibbles dispenser and the water fountain, and put a couple of lamps on timers. I think I may pull the front blinds down to minimize the afternoon sun in the living room - next week is supposed to be sunful and hot, and I don’t need the a/c running overtime, especially when we’re not here. I will bump the setting up a little, since the cats prefer it warmer.

Speaking of cats and their eating habits - mine don’t seem to care about people food, tho Taz will occasionally lick my empty ice cream dish if he approves of the flavor. They never seemed to like gushy food either, altho the last time I put some out, it got snarfed down - probably Taz, but who knows?? They’re cute, but odd.

OK, off to finish my morning 'puter reading before attacking the ditch with my self-propelled Toro.

Happy Saturday!!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 22c/72f with a predicted high of 23c/73f today and mostly cloudy. It’s actually quite humid and stormy out there althoughit also says light rain and only a 20% chance of that. Weather app says “It’s grey and sad, just like my fucking life”.

Cats have strange eating habits in our house. Shadow will have a go at anything he’s offered, he has a particular fondness for fish and sausages. Ophelia is far more selective, she takes very little interest in human food unless it’s a little bit of toast and Marmite. Whisper believes human food is the stuff of nightmares and won’t go anywhere near it. Saying that, they are quite fussy with gooshy food as well. Whisper will have 7+ food in jelly and prefers fish to meat/poultry flavours, but turns his nose up at 11+ food which we get for Ophelia as she’s older and has had a few teeth out.

Shadow doesn’t touch wet food at all, although after he had an inflammation in his mouth, I found some food that’s essentially shredded fish or chicken in broth which seems acceptable so he will eat that, and tuna. And smoked salmon. He’s also supposed to have urinary care kibble because of his previous cystitis issues but prefers the generic kibble, and Whisper hoovers up the urinary care stuff instead.

But they’re cute, right?

Busy morning so far, up early to feed and medicate the cats, then clean litter trays, been to the gym to do bootcamp, spin and then dumbell hustle. Home to sort out litter trays again, drink tea, have a shower and then off into town for errands and lunch at the Good Chinese Place.

Since we have commonwealth games nonsense going on in the park round the corner next week, large parts of it have now been blocked off so we can’t walk through on our usual route to town, will have to go round the edge instead and see which of the gates are still open. I’ll be glad when it’s over.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Laundry, and perhaps some painting. I managed to match zero numbers on the $1 billion dollar MegaMillions, so I will have to go to work on Monday.

Alex Catt, who will emit the Starvation ScreechTM when the food bowl is half empty, doesn’t like cat treats. She also frequently turns down human food, although she has been known to lick my plate.

Good morning everyone.

It’s currently 65 degrees with an expected high of 98. Still sick of the heat.

I didn’t really do anything yesterday, other than sloth. I fan-bathed, that’s what I did, with occasional nips to my bedroom to drink in some AC.

I did get the lawn and flowers watered and had a Costo delivery. The husband went to the store to get some doggy and human ice cream.

Plans for today are fluid; mow the lawn, water the lawn and flowers, and maybe nip to a nursery or two.

In this household, we have the Polar tax. The tax has shrunk over the years, but he still wants certain things. Those things include our sandwiches, cookies, licking the remains of the ice cream in our bowls, and weird things like fruit chews. He now turns up his nose at steak; he’s just plain not interested in it, so the husband and I now share a steak, whereas we used to share our steak with Polar. He used to chow down almost all leftovers, but once we lost Brandi and then he got cancer, he became very picky. He will not eat dry kibble, I’ve tried over and over again. So he gets boiled chicken thighs, rice, and a cheese stick if we sense his appetite is off. He will eat that, and, he lets us know when it’s dinner time. He will bark at the husband and run to his food bowl.

I didn’t buy a Mega Millions ticket and I forgot to tell the husband to buy one when he went to the store. So, I will have to return to work on the 15th.

I hope your trip to the inlaws goes better than expected, FCM.

Well, that’s all the boring news around here, so I’ll grab another cup of coffee and think about what I’m going to do today.

Morning all. Clear right now but a good chance for tunder-boomers this afternoon, if not I guess I will have to water the yard, heading for ‘only’ 87F today. Nothing much on the agenda, the kitchen really needs cleaning and maybe I’ll get to it…or not. Considering getting a housekeeping service next year for my Xmas present to myself.

Didn’t make it up to Tennessee so guess I stay at my current level of life.

Don’t have any pets so food issues are mine and mine alone. Like some of the cats I don’t like gooshy food and can be particular in my diet.

FCM, best wishes to sister and have a good trip.

JtC, enjoy the convention.

VanGo, never had a bird fly into my car, but would hope that I would react as responsibly as you did.

OK, need to put on clothes and act like a responsible homeowner…take care all.

Saw the electrophysiologist yesterday re: my tachycardia. He didn’t ask me if I wanted an ablation. He told me I was having one. So October 4 I have a catheter threaded up my femoral artery and he uses radio frequency to zap the naughty bits of my heart. And it’s an outpatient procedure……

Second time in a row we had 1 ticket that matched the Megaball, so another $2 win. I see one person in IL hit the big’un - any IL Mumpers not checked in yet???

Mowage is done. Trash and recycling is dispatched. We’re both showered and dressed. In a bit, we need to head down to the boat to make sure it’s properly secured, then we’ll have some lunch and swing by a local market for some corn and 'maters and maybe a 'lope to take to FL. After we get back, I’ll do the laundry and try to remember what else needs doing.

And it’s barely after 10. Go us!!

seanette, I’ve never cohabitated with a cat or dog who didn’t like scrambled eggs. In fact, Nelson gets one for breakfast on Saturdays.

Up, dogparked, caffeinating, breakfasted and getting ready to mess around in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Nettie It makes sense that Buddy likes human food. Animals that live on the street tend to be very interested in whatever food they can get. Our Pixel was a little land shark about anything he could get his teeth into.

I am awake, wheeeee. The dogs have been fed. The husband fed himself, I have coffee. Saturday is proceeding. I think we’re going to sit around and watch movies today. I’ll probably sit and read and sneak glances at the screen, because I like books.

Take care everyone. Happy Saturday!

We had to run to the boat for a tool bag and to put some things away that had been left on deck. We also had lunch while out, then stopped at the Forrest Hall Farm for some corn and 'maters and peaches and peppers to go with us. I’ve got the first load of laundry in the washer, and when I go put the second load in, I’ll bring the suitcase up with me.

But till the laundry is all done, we’re mostly in chill mode.
