Gobble, eh? A Metric Thanksgiving MMP

All I know is SUSFU – Situation Unchanged, Still FU.

I occasionally rotate the plates and flatware. We had some fairly heavy plain white ceramic dishes we bought at Sears around sixteen years ago when they were selling off all the tableware; we used them steadily until a couple years ago, then packed them away. Now we use cheap plastic bowls and plates, fifty cents each at WalMart.

At the moment I have two shirts and three pair of jeans that I use. (I don’t have to wash them more than once a week, because I wear my pyjama pants all day instead of the jeans, which I wear on the few days I actually leave the house for whatever reason, and only wear the shirts from just-before-I-leave-the-house until immediately-after-I-get-home.) I do have other shirts, but I’ll need to lose a couple dozen pounds… And I still keep up my Navy habit of having two weeks’ worth of skivvy shirts and shorts, so there’s usually no great rush to wash them, either.

RDOS
RDOS
Rah ! Rah! Rah!

I’ve actually been to that one. While I don’t quilt, I do enjoy the art. I went a few years ago with my niece when she got into quilting for a bit. Fortunately, we lived close enough to make it a day trip. You should enjoy it.

I’ll likely get the pic line removed next week. I was hoping for this week, but he hadn’t heard back from the radiologist.

I donated mine two moves ago. It was nice when I still entertained for the holidays, but it had sat in the cabinet for around a decade at that point.

Wonderful! I hope they’re inspiring shows.

Very good news!

My lovely wife collected some fancy set to fill in pieces she’d inherited, but at our last move all of it went away. We mostly have Noritake Colorwave in various colors.

73 ferrets inna house, but it still feels PNW cool, so I’ve ordered a small dehumidifier. My lovely wife surprised me with a Jackery solar generator panel she got on Prime Day :heart_suit:

These two words together make me giggle

Hey everyone, I’m still kicking!

I have all of the permits now, whoo-hoo! No Kings this Saturday, be there!

Shoe, I’m glad your Mom is on the other side of her surgery. I’m sure her recovery will be easy with such a helpful kittah at her side.

I used to buy nice china at estate sales and then use it until it broke, but Hubs worried about breaking it so I gave up and bought Corelle. No rotating needed.

:hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:

Mom had one of those, but she also had a full sized cedar chest. She promised it to one of my sisters but in her will, it goes to a different one. I’ve mentioned it several times, but nothing has happened (I would accept a signed, dated note to put with her will). I don’t care, she will be dead and I plan to cut contact with the sisters as soon as I’ve closed escrow. They can fight it out between themselves.

That sounds great, I hope you have wonderful times.

I took Mom when it was in Phx. When you get your ticket, you also get a passenger name to follow. Mom started looking for her person in first class, I just assumed my person was traveling steerage and I was right, LOL!

When I worked for the Ophthalmologists, they also did flight check-ups for pilots. There were several regulars who were so bad about it that I would walk them out of the parking lot and across the complex before checking their BP. Just that hundred yards of distance was enough to make at least 20 points difference.

So it is pouring ATM and there are lights flashing in the sky, no booms though. I’d turn the lights off in my room but I want to finish the row I’m working. Its a rather complicated sort of stitch and if I don’t finish tonight, I’ll lose count and have to start all over tomorrow.

Speaking of which, I should probably get back to work. I’ll check back in laters, have great evenings everyone.

Elvis approves of your choice.

Evening all. Exercise is done and since I had some time to burn, 20 minutes in the whirlpool helped to relax me after all that walking/pedaling. Seven shiny ‘participant’ medals are ready for the 6 year olds, probably next week but I also managed to pick up my new coaching shirt (I’ve been practicing and coaching at the fields several miles away and never quite got around to timing it right to get it). Soup and Sammiches have been consumed and the rest of the evening will be dedicated to doing as little as possible. Still 79F outside but it’s due to cool down to 64F tonight, so a comfy sleep is likely.

Dicey, I broke three small plates (Wal-Mart variety) over the past 6-8 years so I replaced them with some others (Kroger variety) which should last me a good while. Nothing nice here, just basic bachelor stuff. And I rotate two sets of sheets too.

red, the cluelessness of many drivers (and I have been guilty of said cluelessness at times) never fails to amaze me.

Nut, so mushrooms and muck were your day’s items…

Hippie, that’s about 4 hours from me, I’m not much into quilting but I do like meeting people, so remind me about it in March/April if you think of it.

Bright Tree, glad the leg is doing better. Of course, the advice comes from an old guy who tries to ignore aches as much as possible before seeing a Doc…

Knots, good on the filter changes, I need to change my water filter, the red light is on so the refrigerator is mad at me.

FCM, never remembered getting any sort of pitch in HS outside of yearbooks. But you handled it just right.

Did a little looking as it is a good question, and found a couple from purported military sites…
TARFU-- Things Are Really F***** Up

BOHICA–Bend Over, Here It Comes Again.

FUMTU: F****** Up More Than Usual

I’m sure there are others…

JtC, You go, girl! Of course, now they will expect you to do it again the next time for protest comes along… And don’t be surprised at the weather…sooner or later, Boom!

And that’s all for now. Need to get a couple e-mails out to the soccer teams and then get down to some serious sloth. Take care all.

Short shift  so I’m actually being productive at home.

The biiiiiig bin is finally back where it belongs (only took two days) and already has a couple of fresh deposits.

Clean sheets, blankets, and pillowcases are on the bed (though I really ought to get the comforter cleaned) and some laundry is swishing away. Until it’s ready for the dryer, I’m snacking on some instant mashed N.O.T doctored up with extra butter, green onion & little nuggets of cheese - they’re like hidden treasures!

Once ^^ is done, it’ll be time for me to enjoy a well-deserved shower myself.

Y’all have a good night.

Well, you’re a dude, so Lane wasn’t going to bother with you. Didn’t the fine folk from Josten’s try to sell you a class ring and a metric shit ton of graduation invitations?

Yay on the permits, JtC!

That was a goooood shower. Except the damn drain is draining slowly again.

I mean, my math skillz ain’t great, but …

@missred man, I’d forgotten about Josten’s.

SNAFU. (My big brother was in the Army, can you tell?)
Situation Normal All F**ked Up.

Hippie those quilt shows sound like a lot of fun in some locations that would be nice to look around the sights. There are a number of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in the near vicinity of Madison if you and Sunflower might be interested: Sites | Frank Lloyd Wright Trail | Visit and Tour Frank Lloyd Wright Sites in Wisconsin

I asked BF if she might be interested to join me in going to the Great Smokey Mountains Spring Wildflower Program and she is, so that will likely be my April vacation.

It was a totally RDOS day basically due to a bit of second day fog and sore arm from the 2 shot day yesterday. Hard a hard time sleeping last night. I never sleep on my back, mostly on my sides and sometimes chest down. Couldn’t sleep on either side as one arm had 2 shots and the other a biopsy. So, I didn’t really get anything done today. But as Scarlett said, I’ll think about that tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Yesterday was a record 90 degrees, and same today. It’s currently 69 degrees Ferret Height(20.556 Centipedes). Nice.

OK, first two words. And I love a smart ass remark.

The guy who taught me how to drive semi-rig was ex-military. He’d regularly use SNAFU, and its relative, FUBAR. (F’d Up Beyond All Repair.) He’d use the latter as a verb: “Yeah, looks like the alternator is FUBARed.”

I do recall that he once said, “Listen, I was in the Navy, and trust me, a trucker’s vocabulary can make a sailor blush.” I learned it, mainly because I had to, and it has come in handy at times.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/64f with a predicted high of 19c/65f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a stupid, cloudy day and I ain’t got fucking shit to say about it.”

Knots I’m glad the doc’s appointment went well, and you managed to solve the problem with the leg cramps.

Cookie I hope you enjoy the exhibit, did it say you need to pack your swimmies?

hippie I bet you and Sunflower will have a fabulous time at a quilting convention or two, you did a great job getting everything organised.

doggio it must be catching - one of my friends is a delivery driver, he managed to drop a 30kg bell on his hand and snapped his thumb backwards.

Yesterday was a busy irk day, but I got out in time for the early train so I gained about 15 minutes on my day. Went home, did evening chores, had dinner and went to the pub with my friends. I was home and in bed by 11.30pm so that wasn’t bad going. Today I had a fun time with the Travel Gods but it worked out ok, have had a meeting with Troublesome Minion, sat through a boring webinar thing, and have another meeting this afternoon. Also just been asked to go through a doc with my manager because she doesn’t understand it and I do.

Off to see Kris Barras on his last ever tour tonight, which will be fun but not fun, if you get what I mean!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 62 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 86 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage which I shall start in a couple of hours. I took a beastloaf outta da freezer yestiddy and it along with peas 'n carrots, mac ‘n cheese, and rolls will be sup. Borin’ but it’ll be tasty. There will, of course, be the usual RDOS sloth. Oh, I went to Evening Prayer over to the church house last night. Enjoyed it very much.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into mowage and RDOS sloth! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

This is an all-time favorite of mine. I think I first heard it when I was stationed in the now-decommissioned VS-41 in San Diego.

Today starts with 65 Ferrets and we might see as many as 67! Overcast and possible rain on and off. I’d already planned a studio day, plus the HVAC tech is coming to give our systems a once-over (house and shop.) I may make a convenience center run, depending on when the tech shows up.

I bought some ground beef at Aldi yesterday and I need to do something with it today. I know I have one meatloaf in the freezer, but I’ll have a look and decide what else I might need to prep for future meals.

So no real excitement on tap here. I mostly slept for about 6 hours - that seems to be my limit lately. I could get more if I slept with Mel but I’m reluctant to make that a regular thing. I don’t know how it affects one’s natural production of melatonin.

Let’s get on with it, then. Happy Thursday!

Good morning, it’s Thursday. I’ll go to Mishawaka for my Xolair shot and probably a trip to Coldstone Creamery for ice cream. It’s going to rain. I don’t care. We’re going for ice cream.

Back when I was working, there was a softball league among the workers. One of the teams was called WOGAF, for Who Gives A F*ck. If you asked what the O was for, the answer was, “I don’t know, but WOGAF?”

Slightly above SNAFU on the messed-up scale is TARFU,

Good morning all. Slept until 7am with no interruptions so up, pilled, and have broken fast with some Chocolate Cheerios which I decided to try for varieties sake (they aren’t bad, but I think I’ll stick to Cocoa Krispies for my chocolate fix in the future). Took the garbage bin out to the curb as it’s over half full and I beat the truck for once. Have some soccer coaching and (probably) refereeing to do later, but all-in-all should be a quiet day. We’re supposed to reach 90F (74F now) but according to the Weather Wizards the highs will drop into the 60’s and 70’s for the weekend and only get back to 80F later, so just maybe (hope I’m not jinxing myself) we’re done with the summer weather.

red, did get a class ring, lost it years ago and never bothered with a replacement.

Cat Glove, I’m a side-sleeper too, sorry you had those problems.

boo fae when you wrote:

I had to look twice as ‘doc’ is often used as a term for a Medical Doctor…but also as a document, so I caught on fairly quickly, but those first few seconds… Enjoy the bittersweet music tour.

May your mowage go as quickly as mine, swampy.

That’s the Spirit!!

Knots, a rather creative name, only one I remember from college was the Master Batters, which isn’t to clever (suspect every college intramural has a team with that name).

And onward into the day. A good Thorsday to you all.
